Make Google Love You!

Why do we want to get as many comments as possible on our website(s)? Well, simply because (relevant) feedback will improve your ranking on google and other search engines! Which is what we all want, right? Being on the first pages of google, getting traffic, building trust with our audience and earning a decent living!

A comment left by a visitor is a sign of commitment to your content. Indeed, when someone takes the time to comment on one of your posts, they decide to start a discussion with you. Google loves websites that have interactions and activity.

Now, people will leave you comments for various reasons and it is really important that you also take the time to get back to them (unless they're spam comments). People contact you through the comments box to :

- annoy you with their own promotions (lol)

- share their opinion, which will not necessarily be the same as yours =)

-thank you for giving them an answer to their question or solving their problem

- ask for further information, related to your post

Help other people out in the process

As a member of Wealthy Affiliate you probably already know that one of the greatest strengths of the program is the mutual help. Kyle & Carson have implemented several means that enable us to boost our businesses by getting comments on our websites.

On Wealthy Affiliate we like to receive help from others and we love giving it back. When you receive a quality comment (one that's really related to your article or that asks an interesting question for example), you only want to do one thing : return the favor! =)

The more comments you will leave to people, the more comments you'll get back as a result and the healthier your website will be!

So do not neglect this aspect of your business: it is essential!

I'm going to disagree with this and I have had many conversations over the years with Kyle and other members on here.
Comments doesn't help a website rank, why do I say this because the majority of my websites don't have any comments on because I don't allow them.
Don't get me wrong I have tried the allowing comments route and that's fine if you only have one website but when you get to 20 or more it isn't so easy because you start to spend all your time answering them and it's time I just don't have.
I rank on the first page of Google and usually at #1 spot or at the very least in the top 5 positions without allowing comments.
Admittedly these are not new sites, most are several years old.

The other thing is the Comment is only of any value if it is relevant to your post; say for example someone said, That's a good post!,
What does it say really? absolutely nothing.
But if it offered something of more value or created a discussion then this would be of benefit to your readers and to the Search Engines.

This is very interesting, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I really thought, from what Kyle said that comments were really important to our website ranking and creating trust with our audience. Now I might have got all this wrong lol. Are comments only good for trust and creating "returning visitors"? I would love to know more about it!
I am not sure I understand your last point. I think I agreed in my training that a good post has to offer value and create a discussion to benefit the readers' experience and search engines. A simple "great post" is not sufficient, because it doesn't say anything. I think that's what I said in the training lol, but maybe I misunderstand your last point!
Anyway, thank you for dropping by. I still think I will value people's comments and give them quality comments because it can't hurt their website, can it? People look at comments, they want to know what the writer says and what people asked...
Have a great day!
Sarah

I didn't read your training, only replied to this post.
I have over 20 websites and for me it's just not feasible to be wasting my time on answering comments.
Hence I don't rely on them or just on Google.

Oh I understand better now =), no problem !
I can imagine what it would be like answering to people's comments on 20 websites... sounds impossible. It's reassuring to know that your websites can rank on the first page of google without any comments though! =) I suppose time and good content has everything to do with it!

Good content is everything but giving answers to problems that people are searching for is the most important.

Yes, absolutely. That's what content is about, helping people with their problems or questions. They land on your page for a reason and need to leave satisfied
And sometimes you can add additional help through your comments, but that is if you don't have 20 websites lol

I think comments are good when is about what is in your content. When the comments are from subscribers.

Now, comments coming from WA, are not that useful. I mean, for the website owner, it is, but, even that to a certain extent. It's definitely useful to you, so you have an idea about your website performance.

Really most of the comments from WA, you don't even approve, because it's not relevant to your subscribers or the subscribers you are trying to get.

Think it this way, most of the comments that come from WA, are not about the products you are promoting, it's mostly, about your website looks, etc. So that will help you to get it better.

Now, if you are already successful and have 20 websites going about, you definitely, don't need to go around answering to comments, because you already have gotten your point across.

That is my opinion. I think when you are trying to promote your products, a review by the subscribers always helps. Most definitely. Other people see that and rely on that opinion to make their own mind.

I am sorry to get into your conversation, but, I was just thinking about this subject another day back.

You are right, there are good comments and "bad" comments lol...

I was referring to comments that actually talk about your content and not comments such as "your website looks pretty" or alike lol.. these are nice don't get me wrong, but I don't consider them comments. They qualify more as encouraging words =)

By comments I really meant conversations... information that enables you to add more content to your posts, to help people further, to connect and make new visitors want to know you or come back

But you are absolutely right and I think WA has made a great job with the "site comments" tool, because typically if you don't leave a long enough or relevant and unique comment it just won't be accepted. So in the end, I personally always receive interesting and valuable comments on my websites =)

anyway, have a great day !
Sarah =)

Great training I really loved it ! I recently requested some comments after giving constructive and thorough comments, but I received some comments that I disapproved because they were worthless.

Your website is good and your layout is beautiful doesn't help your website grow, I actually received copy/paste comments here on three different pages, by the same person. lol

But some of the comments I received were really awesome and very engaging and that's what we all want!

If you receive an amazing comment on your website why give copy/paste comments ? You are being helped but you don't want to help back?. That can be frustrating if you spent 3 hours giving quality comments.

By the way, I hope everyone could see this training because some members need to learn the importance of giving good comments before requesting.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I see I am not the only one spending sometimes three hours writing comments ahah but like you said, if you receive a nice comment, why not return the favor? That's what Wealthy Affiliate is all about... helping each other all the way through!
Thank you again and all the best!
