The IRS Offers Free Tax Help- Check It Out.


New Tax Laws = Refund claiming the (EITC)/(ACTC) will be held until February 15, 2017, before accepted and released by the IRS.

New laws passed by congress went into effect as of January 1, 2017. The new law is call Preventing Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) it designed to help prevent fraud and is expected to delay the refunds for millions of us Americans filing this tax season.

  1. If you're claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit (EITC or the ACTC) there will be a delay until February 15, 2017. The IRS said they will not release any part of the tax return claiming these deductions. There is no way around this, it for our own protection claims the IRS.
  2. Your Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) may be expiring this year so you’ll need to check your records and have your 2015 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI); To prevent any unnecessary delays.
  3. The standard rates for mileage has dropped for businesses, medical and moving.

The dreaded time for sure. I use an online service and seriously, it works well for us. We don't have a lot of tax stuff going on that I can't do myself. For sure if we had some serious medical issues or other items that would send us over the standard deduction I would certainly entertain getting help from a professional. Thanks for sharing this!

I agree with you, Kathy. I subject people do their taxes themselves if someone is only having to use a simple form like The Form

Most of the time, but not always anyone using the not so complicated forms is getting a refund that is less than the cost of using a professional service. In this case, I would recommend the taxpayer use all the free help available to them.

hat free help can really find miss deduction and credits that will give you back a bigger refund. I recommend even if you do your own taxes, give them a call and put more eye on finding anything you may have missed.
