2. Add Canonical URLs with Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is used to manage sites with multiple tags. As a website owner, you can use this tool to improve the speed of your site as well as make troubleshooting problems way easier

Moz has a well-detailed guide for managing the website's rel=canonical tags. This tool can be used to set the different yardstick for what to be crawled or ignored on a website.

3. Add Canonical URLs to Duplicate Content

One of the quickest ways to fix SEO related issues caused by duplicate content on a webpage is to set up canonical URLs. If you are a website owner, you can make use of the canonical checker.

This tool will search and fix issues related to duplicate content. This is very important for SEO ranking as search engine crawlers won't have a problem crawling your site.

Conclusion

Although the use of canonical tags is not a new concept, most especially to SEO experts, it is important to refresh and update our knowledge from time to time.

Note that your website content, architecture, and links are what online users see. That's why it is important to always take good care of your site by paying attention to every detail that could potentially affect your site rankings.

If you can remember virtually all the important points in this tutorial, you won't find it difficult to “canonicalize” the pages of your website.

Hi Israel. I find myself with issues and I believe it is to do with duplicate content (affiliate links that have been used in other posts). You said, "One of the quickest ways to fix SEO-related issues caused by duplicate content on a webpage is to set up canonical URLs."

Where do I find the Canonical Tool you refer to and does it tell you how to add/fix the issues?

To ensure Google understands your canonical URL, use the structure below:
<link rel=“canonical” href=“https://yourdomain.com/sample-page/” />

Make sure you don't use upper case URLs at all.
