Many of you are aware that you can use the free Social Meta function of All in One SEO to determine what image Facebook will choose when you and others share your blog post on Facebook.

You can activate that function from The AiO-SEO menu in Wordpress. Just click Feature Manager and then activate the Social Meta feature.

There are also other plugins that allow you to set specific pictures and text for various social media.

But sometimes Facebook get it wrong when your post is shared.
No pics are shown, or the wrong pic is chosen.

Here is what to do when that happens.

Did you hear me shouting when facebook did not show up - again - the images I want? Lol

Seriously... I already learned from one of your comments about the AIO Seo settings and I am very happy about it (still have to try it, but already changed the settings) and will try this way, too.

Thanks for this,
Gerlinde

My experience the first image on your post will be the one that is used, but that is also not always the case.

That is true when neither theme nor plugins have defined any image in the Open Graph tags.

You can also use the feature image in wordpress for each page.

It is not every theme that adds Open Graph tags to the featured image. Then Facebook pulls any picture.
And the recommended image dimensions for Facebook share image does not always correspond with the dimensions of the featured image.

Omega theme has this included.

Maybe. I tried to check it out, but I am not sure which Omega Theme to check. There are at least 5 WP themes named Omega.
But even if you clearly define social media content through Open Graph tags, Facebook still can get it wrong.
