Pinterest has been called many things like a social media platform, social share website, and social network, but what it really is, is a visual search engine. Anyone and everyone can use Pinterest and that includes businesses.

Pinterest even says “Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more. With billions of Pins on Pinterest, you'll always find ideas to spark inspiration. When you discover Pins you love, save them to boards to keep your ideas organized and easy to find.” (-https://help.pinterest.com/en/guide/all-about-pinterest)

... Says “Pinterest is an American image sharing and social media service designed to enable saving and discovery of information (specifically "ideas") on the World Wide Web using images and, on a smaller scale, animated GIFs and videos, in the form of pinboards.” (-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinterest)

If you are a casual user, you can pin almost anything on the internet to a board on Pinterest as a visual way to save the content to a place you remember.

By “pinning” (or pining) to Pinterest you are effectively saving a post, with a picture, to a specific space or board on Pinterest.

The one big difference is that unless you save it to a “secret” board all of Pinterest will now have access to that same pin. Hence the term social sharing.

Each user creates and maintains their own boards. So, if you like organizing then this is a great place to do just that.

For example, you like dogs, work from home job ideas, and recipes. Create a board for each category. Maybe you are even more organized when it comes to recipes. You can create boards for light recipes, dinner recipes, bread recipes, keto recipes, egg recipes, etc.

Another example: you are renovating your house and want design ideas. You can go to Pinterest and search for ideas and/or you can save the ideas you see on another site to Pinterest.

I hope by now you are getting the idea. (If not feel free to leave questions below!)

If you have a business, you can save your content and pictures from your website to Pinterest. Pinterest even has options for product pins and you can download your catalog.

Note: You will need to create a business account. More On this later.
