The Importance of Having a Specific Topic
If you want to build a successful niche site you have to understand the importance of being specific.
When you pick a theme you want to talk about, you have to be very focused, targeting a very precise (specific) niche.
The "river fishing for trout books" keyphrase (search term with more than one keyword) is a great example. It's a very specific and focused niche topic.
Why Is This So important?
The point is that if you go after a broader niche term you'll face much more competition.
With greater competition your chances of getting visitors are that much harder.
The broader you go the harder it gets to get free SEO traffic.
And... without traffic there's no sales.
Let's revisit our niche example.
The "river fishing" keyphrase is too broad.
There's a lot of people searching for it but simply too much competition.
But... if you niche down, you'll find that the “river fishing for trout books” search term has much less searches but also much less competition.
Hence your chances of you getting visitors, sales and commissions grow exponentially.
And... There's Still More to It...
Broader niches or broad search terms usually mean less focus from those who are searching.
Someone searching for "river fishing" may not be that much interested in buying river fishing for trout books.
They might be just curious or searching for information and not really wanting to buy something yet.
Whereas searchers looking for "river fishing for trout books" really know what they want and are further ahead in their purchase funnel.
Be Close to The End of the Purchase Funnel
The closer you put your niche site to the end of the purchase funnel, the more chances you'll have to earn money.
That's why being specific or focused is so important!
