Website Search Optimization: How to Optimize Your Site's Homepage

Your landing page is your home page. Because it is where magic happens, it makes sense to make it SEO-optimized. You want a landing page that generates organic traffic.

Why? Organic traffic is free and you don't have to pay for ads to get your URL to the top of Google.

But how do you go about it? Here are some important homepage SEO tips you should implement immediately. These tips will improve your search engine rankings and increase organic traffic.

1. Optimize Your Home Page Title

First, you must use the correct keyword on your homepage. If your homepage link appears in search results, it means that the reader must instantly know what type of business you offer.

If your business is about MMO, then your homepage must show the reader that you offer information about making money blogging.

These are some tips:

  • Use no more than 60 characters
  • Use targeted keywords
  • Don't stuff keywords
  • Your domain name should be at the start of your title

Google does not allow long titles to exceed 60 characters. The reader should be able see your entire title on your home page.

It's a good idea to write for humans and not robots. Many people focus too heavily on keywords, which I found to be a common problem. Don't just regurgitate keywords into your Meta title for the sake.

Writing for humans requires that it be easy to understand. It is important that the headline conveys a message to the reader.

2. Optimize Your Meta Description

The Meta description is text that appears below your title. Google and other search engines will read the Meta description and index your site appropriately where it belongs.

This is why you need to ensure:

Read the entire training. Page loading for one's home page is critical.

My home page is quite simple, with one small logo image repeating twice. I have another image used once. It is also a small image.

Then, I have a divider image which is quite small repeating 27 times.

All images are .png images and should not load slowly.

I clean my the caches of my various browsers frequently, and it appears my home page loads quickly, both on mobile devices and on my laptop.

Google has given me a 98 rating for my .com site on a desktop device, but only a 54 rating on a mobile device.

I have been through this before and discovered the only fix i could come up with would be the same information on a .net domain for mobile use.

Twice the work, but I get good loading time on a mobile device for the .net domain, which came in at 82. That is not far from their best rating bracket of 90 - 100

Conclusion: I am happy with the Google analysis for the .com domain, which I hope most visitors will view and use on a desktop or laptop. And I am also content with the Google analysis for the .net domain, which I hope most visitors will view and use on a mobile device.

Time will tell. Thanks for the insights.
