When I first started working online, I found myself getting all wrapped up in the technical things like keyword research, building sites, article marketing, and on and on and on.

At times I really felt like my head would EXPLODE from all the information I was trying to learn, digest, AND put into action.

Turns out, there was really only ONE THING I was doing that really led to success in my niche.

Oddly, I didn't even know I was doing "it" until much, much later.

Had I known to do "it" and went about doing "it" with a true purpose as opposed to sheer accident, I would've done it MUCH sooner because it is the ONE THING that led to....

- Being known in my niche

- Getting followers in my niche

- Building lists in my niche

- Making MUCH more money in my niche

- Being trusted and "recognized" in my niche

- Needing to do MUCH less keyword research

- MUCH less work,stress, and effort when creating content

- MUCH less effort for back links

So - What IS that ONE THING?

Great information Jennifer. Great. In my less than two months here at WA, I've been kinda confused about all the fuss surrounding keywords. Everyone has their opinion it seams. I'm finding that I'm resisting the process of integrating keywords into my blogs and such. It just doesn't appeal to me. It seems kind of fake or superficial. After all, am I writing to satisfy Google, or am I writing to help people. If I'm wanting to write a blog because I feel it will benefit the reader, but there are no good keyword choices regarding the topic, do I just move on and never write that blog? I don't think so. So I'm inclined to do what I do (irrespective of keywords) and make more of an effort to be "everywhere". Afterall, did the successful people out there start by being savvy with keywords and such? I kinda doubt it. You have to be real, offer something of value, and be everywhere, like you said. Build it - and they will come. That's kinda my philosophy. I'm still going to be cognizant of keywords and will implement proven strategies, but I'm not going to get all frazzled if I don't use the best keywords and such.

Hi Scott, if you only rely on search-engines to bring you visitors you need keywords. I have a huge following on social media, so I don't put to much effort into key-words.

Classical example of my old family bar business (or any business for that matter!) in the early nineties, business grew only from good service which in turn lead to word of mouth referrals which in turn lead to good reputation and then ultimately successful business. Solid foundation for good business! Simple search and rankings are so very one dimensional for longevity and established reputation. Good post, Jennifer!
