Tips For Improving Page Speed

Although this should essentially be covered in an entirely new tutorial, I will give you some simple tips to improve your overall site load speed.

Nowadays people are more and more on mobile devices surfing the internet and therefore we have to be more active on optimizing our pages for mobile.

Even though mobile systems get faster and faster, both in phone hardware as in internet network speed (4G LTE already here and 5G on its way), we should still try to optimize for the lowest amount of bandwidth.

  • Minimize image sizes to about 50kb - 100kb per image
  • Minimize plugins or make sure you got not heavy loading plugins in your site
  • Watch out with how much external content you load in to your page/post.
  • Get the HTTP vs HTTPS story sorted. HTTPS is the new requirement
  • mobile speed is more important than desktop speed.

Thanks for being with me until here. Hope the tutorial has helped you find your way now. All the best with your site and its PageSpeed.

- Steven

Thanks for sharing this I wouldn't have found it on my own.

It doesn't seem to working at the moment though. When I click "check" it loads for about 30 seconds, but doesn't show any results.
