Are you struggling with WA Affiliate Bootcamp? In other words, are you struggling with promoting Wealthy Affiliate membership?

Why are people not signing up? Why are they not upgrading to Premium?

These are all very common questions among those working very hard on their Affiliate Bootcamp sites.

In this training, I would like to share some of the crucial points/factors to succeed in WA Bootcamp which are often overlooked!

Why Listen to ME?

That's a very good question to ask before we start.

To be honest, I'm not a WA Super Affiliate YET, meaning that I have not reached the 300 sales milestone. So, why me?

Here's the reason...

I started working full-time on my Bootcamp site since January 2018 with the goal of making it to Vegas 2019.

I started with zero organic referrals and a daily visitors of less than 50. That's me in January 2018.

Fast-forward 4 months, I now have a total of 49 Premium referrals at the point of this writing. I've just surpassed the 500 daily visitors milestone and my Premium Referral conversion rate for April was 13.1% (27 Premium referrals out of 206 Free Starter Members)

According to the WA statistics, 1 in 8 will upgrade to Premium, which is a 12.5% conversion rate:

So I'm really glad that I had a pretty good conversion rate so far.

Wait! I'm not here to brag but to give you some proof of my achievements so far.

And YES, I've been in your shoes before...

In February, I had 34 Free Starter referrals but no Premium upgrades. (My Feb Monthly Update)

At that time, I was so disappointed and frustrated. I even asked a question in the community to see if that was normal:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/wa-affiliate-program/super-a...

But 2 months later (April), I got 206 Free Starter Referrals and 27 Premium upgrades. Look at that jump in just two months' time. From 34 Starter Members to 206 in a month. And from ZERO Premium Referrals to 27 in a month.

Of course this doesn't happen without hard work. My goal was to publish 5 posts per week and at least 20 posts per month. These posts are not low quality random posts just to boost the quantity.

I focus a lot of quality as well. My average word count per post is at least 2000 words.

And I applied everything that's being taught in WA exactly. That's how I gained that traction over the past two months.

I know many you are struggling with...

  • Website traffic
  • Writing product reviews
  • Keyword research
  • Getting Free Starter referrals
  • Getting Premium upgrades, etc...

So like I've said, I'm not here to brag but I would love to share with you some of my tips and learning points along the way.

Undeniably, the Affiliate Bootcamp course is already a comprehensive training. But nothing is perfect.

Through my experience so far, there are quite a lot of important factors that people tend to overlook and there are some lessons not taught within the Bootcamp course which I believe are very critical for all of our businesses.

My goal here is not to replace the Bootcamp training but to make this a "Supplementary Training" to the existing course.

I'm also learning along the way, so I'll definitely update this training whenever possible.

Here's what you'll discover in this training:

  • How to get more quality traffic and more leads?
  • How to structure your website to boost your sign up rate?
  • What's the easily overlooked strategy to boost Premium upgrades?
  • How to make your affiliate offer irresistible?
  • What's the right mindset to succeed?
  • What tools am I using?

Go to the next page and let's dive right in...

(Warning: This is going to be a LOOOONG training but it's going to be in-depth and intense! Many of the points are not directly taught in Affiliate Bootcamp. And I'll do my best to make it well-worth your time!)

And by the way, if you like my training and find it helpful, please help me share it with other members you know who are struggling with WA Bootcamp as well.

Let's help one another out :) We're a truly 'pay-it-forward' community!

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for this post. I am at the stage where I want to do email marketing funnels and was thinking of Clickfunnels (too expensive).

Will I have to build my site all over again using Thrive Architect? I tried to download the theme but it doesn't appear as standard, maybe cos it's priced.

Your post really made me think twice, just wondering how to start uploading and using it. A single license will suit me fine at the moment...

Regards, Stella

Now, I just revisited this training, after reading Jerrys post about 99 premium referrals... which is an amazing number.

Re~reading, the post, confirms his exact actions, but also confirms, that what he is doing, I and I am sure others are doing s being a GOOD way of getting referrals. I mean when success leaves clues its a bit daft not to tweak your own plan slightly.

Thanks for this Jerry, I found it very helpful

Your post really inspire me a lot. This few days, I am confusing copy or not. I am a beginner. I have totally no idea of how to choose theme, write a beautiful content, what should I write, etc....Actually, copy cat break through my mind.

But I dont know how to find successful WA member's website. I want more reference for my work.

Can you provide some to me?

Thank you so much.
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
Provide you with what? Websites for you to refer to?
Reply
CTL Premium
Yes, successful WA member's website.
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
Sorry you have to go find them out yourself because not everyone wants their sites to be copied by others.

And I'm not saying you're a copy cat or anything like that. Just that some people don't want their sites to be shared so that others have the chance to copy their ideas.

You can look for people's website link under their profile if they put it there.
Reply
CTL Premium
But how can I know who is successful WA member's website?

According their ranking inside WA?
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
Ranking can be one thing. Some successful members are active so they rank high in WA ranking. But there are also many people who are not successful yet but they're very active in WA so they also have high ranking.

Once again, this is something personal and private. Not everyone will like to share that publicly. Especially some people don't like to share their earnings as this is something personal. Some of them will share their success stories and you can figure out from there.

As you spend more time here, you'll slowly find out who is having successes.

I need time to digest your blog. There are too many useful valueable information inside. Your blog is really great. I plan to read one more today.

The other thing shock me is to publish 5 blogs a week as Kyle suggest. For me, it's imposssible because of no idea although I have time.

Do you have any suggestion that can publish high quality post more efficieny, any writing skill except hire people to write?
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
It's all about practice. I couldn't do that if you didn't keep practicing. One step at a time. Don't rush but get things done.
Reply
CTL Premium
Yes, I am practicing everyday. My brain always think about the idea no matter where I go. Never stop.

Everyone has 24 hours only.

How many hours do you suggest in reading blogs or learning other skills?

How many hours do you suggest in writing contents?
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
I would suggest you spend 80% of the time on writing because that's the actual productive thing that can get you traffic and hence sales in the long run. Whilst, 20% of the time learning.

CTL Premium
You suggestion is very important for me.

Hi Jerry! Me again! Please i tried using this CSS buttun generator, but when i copy and paste the code on the text aspect of my post and preview, it shows exactly the same way i input it in the text section. hello Jerry,
Thanks for the amazing training!

I have a question regarding new products' launches. A few weeks ago I wanted to review one of the products listed on muncheye.com through a blog post. The launch date was set to be July 23rd, and what I learned is that the cart will remain open only for few days and then it will be closed. And I checked the sales page of the product through my affiliate link through my clickbank account, and it is really closed and no one can purchase the product now. I thought this product is probably a special case. But a few days ago, I checked another product on Munheye that I wanted to promote, but they also mentioned that the cart will be open for few days and then will be closed.

I'm not sure I understand how this works. Is this normal for all product launches that they have few days with the cart open and then they close it and later they open it again? or it will be closed forever? Because honestly, writing a review for a product that is available for only a few days is meaningless. In any case I won't be able to make it to the first two pages in Google in the matter of few weeks.

I appreciate your help in this.

Thanks in advance!
Amjad

Hey Amjad, great question!

Yes some products only open for a short period of time. But if it's the kind of product that will keep re-opening every now and then, for example, Amazing Selling Machine (open once a year), you can still consider reviewing it.

For those that only open for a while and you're not sure if there will be a lot of traffic, don't bother reviewing those as it's not worth your time.

I didn't know there are so many such products. Those products on ClickBank are definitely open for a long time.

Just do your research properly and decide which to review based on your keyword research and competition research.

Jerry, I stumbled upon this thrkugh another member pisting that he got ranked in page 1 of google. I I'm so pleased that I clicked on the link to your training you have filled in the blanks that I needed to know and although it is an extremely in-depth training it makes a hell of a lot of sense

It has been difficult getting my head around everything and I am under no illusions that it does take hard work to get to the point where you are at possibly being 21 years old helps as I am three times your age however I am still ambitious and have been playing with affiliate marketing for many years without any success

Being a premium member with wealthy affiliate to me is a no-brainer even if I don't make any money for roughly $49 per month I can host up to 25 websites that in itself is worthwhile however I am not here to spend money I want to make money and I think if I read your training probably 100 times it might stick but not everybody is fast at learning so everyone has to do things at their own pace

Explaining things in layman terms is the best way for me to be able to achieve success

I am sorry that I have waffles on but I just felt you deserved more than just well done Jerry great post

I wanted you to know that what you've done here is extremely inspiring and I shall be following you

I do understand why such details are not in the regular training though, I guess that it might be a bit complicated for someone who has not completed the Bootcamp. Wow! I sat and read through the whole training and I normally don't do that. You had my attention all the way through. I have to say I wish I had you when I first started in WA.

It was so rough in the beginning. I almost quit so many times because I felt like I was so misunderstood. The community alone made me feel better to stay, calm down, and learn.

I like how you think of others and the way they may feel coming into WA for the first time. It definitely can be scary.

I will take your advice because I don't want a member that I bring in, to go through or how I felt in the beginning. This was very inspirational to me and gave me a lot to think about.

Hey Jerry. Thanks so much for this very GREAT training! It has been a long read but I have to say that it is totally worth it. I read it all the way to the end!

I have been stuck with quite a few starter referrals too and although I am always on top of keeping in touch with them, encouraging them to get in touch and ask for help, and always letting them know I am just a PM away, most of them don't even reply me. I know I can't force anybody to reply but it has been very upsetting.

Jerry that's awesome! I was searching training like this a long time because I didn't want to promote products from different platforms because I would had to manage a lot of platforms and I had to see the statics from each platform. That would be so diffcult. So, your training helped me a lot.

I've also seen a lot of things about landing pages but I don't know how to stick it with my blogroll website which is full of content. I don't know how to convert my simplistic website into a good designed website with many smart pop-ups.

I tried to do work with elementor but I made a different landing page with different design from my original website but this page is in one of my main posts. I want to convert my website like this exact page and I don't know how.

Also I can't spend money this period, I think there are ways to make my main homepage looks like landing page and also have my posts. Can you help me?

Moreover, to be honest, I'm here at WA about 5 months and I didn't make a penny from my content. I followed all the guidance about these but I don't know maybe I have to write more. Anyway, I found a way.

I tested to display some ads on instagram stories. I designed a promotional images for WA on Canvas and I create some paid campaigns. I have about 30 referrals and 2 premium referrals. I spent only 14 euros and I made many different ads for WA.

I thought once to make a separate landing page which is easy to make it and transfer people from my ad to here. But I don't know what to do with my website how to change it's general look. The content is not the problem I will spend more time for it.

Thanks. I’m glad my training helps!

You can have your homepage to a static page in the WP settings instead of a blogroll. That’s not dependent on theme. Let me know if you can’t find the setting for it.

The most efficient and cheap way to build your homepage is just use a static homepage and edit it using the default WordPress editor with texts and images. It can be simply and not fancy as long as it’s clear and it works.

As for making money, may I know how much time do you spend on your business everyday or every week? Because it definitely takes a lot of time and effort to make money online.

For your website design, it’s pretty much dependent on your theme. I personally use Thrive Architect to design my landing pages. But it’s a paid tool.

Hi Jerry. This was the most inspiring and the best educational post I have ever read. Ton of great info. I do have some small success with my WA referrals but i can't build any consistency.

I was wondering did you do anything different in April to see such an increase in sales? Was it a pop up, static home page or changes to landing page you made? Or you started getting more overall traffic? I am sure in February you had many of aforementioned things already in place

I might look in to another theme to get static home page. Can you PM me a referral link to ThriveThemes. I have already bought mine from ThemeShop but it has that Lazy Blogroll :) I definitely want to change that now. I do see through Google Search Console how some people click on Home button, but they leave after that.

Also the Theme you used allowed you to create such a nice captivating landing page? Or you had to design that in Photoshop?

Thanks a lot my friend. I love what you are doing for WA community. I wish you to make 300 sales this year and visit Vegas conference.
I am hoping to put all the pieces of the puzzle I am working on right now and join you guys :)

I’ll PM you my link shortly.

I didn’t do things differently in April. I guess that’s the result of all the work accumulating since Jan. I forgot when did I create the pop up but it definitely helps.

For my landing page, I designed it solely using Thrive Architect, the drag and drop page builder plugin by Thrive a Themes. You can check that out through the link I will be sending you.

I only use Photoshop for my featured images.

Once again, thanks for your kind words and compliments. I wish you all the best!

I really like the part about finding other successful people and copying what they do. I've been kind of doing that, and I find that it's a lot easier to come up with content.

So you're okay with me going on your blog to see what programs you review, then reviewing the same programs, and basically just rewrite your posts but in my own way. I'll use your work as a template, then put my own spin on it.
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
Yea you can do that if you want. But just beware of duplicate content issue.

"Steal" as in get inspirations about ideas things like that. Don't copy the content exactly if not you'll be penalized by Google. I'm sure you know that, right?
Reply
MrKent Premium
Oh yeah, never would I just straight up copy it. I'll make it so that it's very different from the original.

Example, you say "Don't copy the content exactly if not you'll be penalized by Google. I'm sure you know that, right?"

I'll say "I'm sure you know better, but just make sure that you don't just copy/paste the content word for word. It's okay to copy the ideas and use it as inspiration to create original work, but if Google detects that you're plagiarizing then your website's rankings could get penalized."

That's different enough to be okay, right?

So, back here after my first read. I'm glad to see I had one of your hacks figured out because I suffer self doubt and usually feel like I'm spitting in the wind but I forge on.

I am so glad this was shared on FB today!

I can see where I can start applying your helpful info which is a good thing.

Wow Jerry, that powerful statement that you made, (found in section #3 "follow-up") about NOT providing any bonuses to members who just joined WA within that first message being sent out to them to me makes so much sense! I know that I've never heard this subject addressed before by anyone here at WA

Yet, if one honestly looks at it from this different point of view, it is so incredibly correct! Don't hit the new member over his/her head with the promises of bonuses right after the individual has just signed up should he/she choose to upgrade, (furthermore putting a time limit on that bonus). It's like your shilling the fact that upgrading to the premium membership level for a new member is something that he/she absolutely NEEDS to do and right now!

It's like visiting a car dealership for the first time and a salesperson immediately starts twisting your arm to buy a new car right on the spot, perhaps you not even taking the vehicle out for a test drive as yet! Most people, including definitely myself would instantaneously be turned off and walk right out of the dealership's showroom.

What you state about not providing them with bonuses until the 2nd or even 3rd message is such an eye-opener, Jerry!

Thank you for bringing it to the attention of people who have chosen to read and obtain knowledge through your training. I can only believe that, like me, many have members have incorrectly included the bonuses, (twisting the arm of the newbie who might have only joined minutes before hand) within the body of their first message trying to get these brand new members to immediately upgrade on the promise of receiving extras if they do so.

Simply brilliant thinking on your part, Jerry!

Now, I'm heading off to immediately change my first few messages to be sent out to people who become my referrals!

Hi Jerry,

This is really a mind-opener. I like your idea of a static page over a blogroll. For quite some time, I was struggling with this as it is really not clear from a blogroll what the site is all about. A static page definitely gives clarity. However, I lack the skills to create a good looking static page and Thrive Themes Membership may be the answer to that eventually. I have a site with over 100+ blog posts. If I convert to Thrive Themes, will the content be ported over or will there be any potential glitch with alignment, images etc. Any experience on that?

The short answer is just installing and activating Thrive Themes will not affect your existing content :)

Very impressive, Jerry. Having spent some time on your site, I can see that you are indeed implementing all of these hacks to good effect.

Your conversion rate is incredible. My biggest takeaway will be to revise my initial autoresponder message to remove mention of the first-month bonus. Your points regarding this are very valid. I'm getting the invites and converting a larger percentage would be huge.

Your progress is inspiring and I wish you continued success!

You are an absolute diamond. Thank you so much.

I have learned so much in this half an hour. I shall be going back over it as I Implement some of those hacks into my website.

Hi Jerry,

I have some GOOD NEWS about the Thrive Architect "Content Lock In" issue...

In August 2017 Thrive announced that they had "created a comprehensive content preservation system for Thrive Architect."

That means, "when you deactivate the plugin: every type of content that WordPress supports will still be displayed. Everything else will be hidden."

...

"...your content will probably look very different after deactivating Thrive Architect, if you've created interesting layouts and used many of our elements. ***However, the content remains clean and visible.***"

https://thrivethemes.com/content-preservation/

And here's the video version on YouTube:

Hope that helps!

Hey David, yes I'm aware of that. Thrive Themes is doing a lot better preserving content than many other page builders.

However, it's still not 100%. Just like my custom homepage. There are a lot of custom elements. If I deactivate my plugin, the entire homepage is not readable.

Hi Jerry
Thank you so very much for taking the time and trouble to make this superb training :)

It really is super-useful and I will be referring back to it frequently in the future - it is certainly one of the best trainings I have come across.

I really like the look of your website, and I had already tried to discover more about Thrive themes before you gave us that information. My website looks so amateur compared with yours!!

I am seriously wondering whether to start a new WA Affiliate website built from scratch following your advice - do you think that that would be a good idea. My original one seems rather stale to me. I have one post which has been on page one for some time - sadly that is only incidentally promoting WA and is about a scam! So I would really appreciate your advice!

Many thanks again

Chrissie :)

PS Huge congrats on becoming an Ambassador - you are definitely worthy of that position :)

Hi Jerry,
This training was shared to me so your CTA is working at the beginning as well as at the end. I am surprised that most of what you say is not covered very early on in the bootcamp training. I am just starting phase 2 after going premium very recently and all of your hacks in my opinion should be implemented straight after setting up the Wordpress website.
I will be taking the training onboard and will be reading through it again to make sure I have followed it all correctly.

Thank you for creating this training. I learned a lot on my first quick look at the content. I will have to go through it again at a slower pace and take in the information, and apply the information where valid.

I loved your observations throughout the training, especially the stuff about the number of links that can be in a post. I thought that Google did not like it if you had many links. You suggesting that there should be "3" CTAs in a post - near the top (above the fold), somewhere in the middle if a long post and at the end was an eye opener.

I see you make Ambassador today - Congratulations.

I have improved on my keyword research, so much so that I have forgotten other things I should do. I looked at my last article and it was just my long tail keyword. Had a great QSR and traffic, but I forgot about making it attractive so that someone will click on it. Thanks for the reminder and other tips I am sure I will learn in the rest of your blog.

Hi Jerry, great job on the training!

You've actually raised some points here that I haven't seen before or even thought of before, points that make a lot of sense from a visitor perspective. Following the WA training is one thing (and important), but just as important is trying to think like a visitor and prospective referral every step of the process.

Things like, what does a prospective member think when they're told it's free to get started and are immediately hit with an automated message upon sign up about the Premium Membership (or Premium Membership bonus).

One of your points I find interesting. I used to have a static homepage, but after talking to Kyle about my website some time ago, he recommended changing the homepage to a blog roll as he says it helps with better rankings. Maybe it does to some degree, but there's definitely logic to your homepage suggestions as well.

Awesome job!
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
Hey Darren,

Thanks for taking the time. I'm really glad this helps!

User experience is definitely one of the most important element to a good conversion rate. That's why I always put myself into other people's shoes as much as possible.

As for the homepage, I didn't know Kyle recommended blogroll for better ranking. But I don't think that really matters because ultimately Google is still looking at your content. Again, UX is much important on homepage in my opinion.

That's why I said both are fine but from the UX and conversion rate perspective, having a static homepage is definitely better.

Ultimately, you want to establish yourself as the authority. Do you know which high authority people online who is using blogroll as homepage? Probably very very few. Everyone wants to demonstrate their expertise and professionalism. And that's what static homepage is for.

Dang! This is so much awesome information - mind blown! All of this is so over my head but your training was very clear and I appreciate that I can keep watching this training over and over. I especially like your recap at the end! I have a question, since I don't have any sales to date, how do I "impress" anyone to join?
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
That's a really good question! Thanks for raising that up!

I had that same question in the beginning. I didn't have any income or social proof to impress people.

But I figured that out...

All of the successful people online started off in the same situation as you. They didn't have those income proofs to impress others. If they can do it, you can do it too.

So what I did is just focus on being authentic in my content. Sometimes I can be transparent that I've not achieve that kind of success YET, but I've found a way and built a strong foundation, etc.

Sometimes I won't mention that, just solely focus on inspiring people and providing great content. Most of the time, people don't need to see your proofs. Your content alone can impress them.

I hope this makes sense to you.

That's also why I said in the training to add in social and income proof ONLY when you have them. It's totally fine if you don't have it yet. Just follow the training and take action. You can build up your portfolio very soon!

Jerry, This training is incredible so far. You obviously have gone out of your way to create a tremendous "How To" multi-page tutorial as guidance for helping members who do promote WA as a way towards building an online business.

To be honest, just in going through the initial 3 lessons, the vast amount of information that you presented was eye popping. In fact, already that "a-ha" moment hit me square in the face many, MANY times!

Thank you for taking the time to write this training. A bit down psychologically with my lack of results these past several months, (actually very down) suddenly I am inspired to not only read each lesson, word-by-word, but so many of the strategies that you suggested will be implemented into my own business. Believe you me, your training blog has been bookmarked by me for future reference. Visited again, and again, and again and. . .

All I can say is Jerry that you, sir, are going places within your own business. This is evident in the success that you've been able to achieve in only a few short months!

Hey Zarina,

Thank you so much for your kind words and compliments. I can see that you're making some good progress lately. Glad my training helps!

One thing about sharing this with your referrals. I think you should only share it at the later stage when they've been in WA for a few months. Because we always want to recommend beginners to start with their own niche first, instead of jumping into the competitive MMO niche.

Make sense?
Reply

Yeah definitely, I will look at the automated messages option and maybe choose the one that sends a message a few months after their join date (or when communicating about WA their progress).

I've been focusing a bit more on Amazon because I started it earlier than SWAG, but will definitely catch up.

One thing to ask in case you know - do you know good free themes that offer that kind of static homepage? Or was your page build with the thrive page builder?
Reply

I'm not really familiar with free themes that can build good looking static homepage because I haven't touched any free themes for a long time. I have been using Thrive Themes for quite some time now and yes I built my homepage using Thrive Architect, the page builder by Thrive Themes.

And you exceeded those expectations (mind you, I'm rarely generous with my praises). I have already bookmarked this. You have cited many useful tools also. Well, I'm already using a ThemeForest theme and I'm loving it too much to change it to some other theme at this point in time. And I'm using blogroll as my homepage in my MMO site as taught in the training but I always thought a static homepage looked better. Thanks for the wishes, Jerry. I'll be working hard. However, I missed out saying something. There's this no.1 confusion for most beginners like myself - the length of the post. You said the average word count of your posts is 2000 words. I have always read that longer posts (2000-word post is a medium to long-ish post, I must say) rank better. But I have also read that a 1000-word post is also a good enough length. In your honest opinion, how many words do you think should make a regular blog post?
Reply
JerryHuang Premium
That's a very good question Sukumar!

According to Brian from Backlinko, the average word count of a Google first page result is 1,890 words.

Based on his thorough research and analysis, that's the statistics. You can see the screenshot below and here's the link to his research:
https://backlinko.com/search-engine-ranking

My advice is this...

Don't be too concerned about the number of words you have. Just focus on the content. I said that my average word count is at least 2000 is because I'm aiming for the most quality and in-depth content as much as possible. I never aim for any word count.

Just do your best to produce the best possible content as possible while applying all the SEO strategies taught by Jay!

I hope this helps :)
