Today we are going to keep things relatively stress free today, but it is going to be a very productive day. We are going to be setting up the core of our website, which includes the selection of our domain.

I am also going to be using a domain that I own and plan to profit from in this exercise. I will be using as an REAL example of how you can create an authority site in this niche and that I will be using throughout the Affiliate Bootcamp and that I will be turning from NOTHING into a full time business online.

Here is the domain that I am using.

WaysToAvoidScamsOnline.com

This is going to be my site and my approach to this. Yours can definitely be different in terms of how you approach this niche, but by seeing what I do first hand and being able to look directly over my shoulder, I think you are going to be get a lot of good ideas!

Before we get into websites, I want to open your eyes to whom the target audiences are for Wealthy Affiliate. This will give you a better idea as the vastness of this niche as most people just assume that "make money" is the niche...not quite!

Task 1: Read the Target Audiences Tutorial

Who is the WA audience? Well, pretty much everyone that wants to make more money and do something they are passionate about....and honestly, who doesn't want to do either of these.

I discuss the target audiences and offer you a good deal of insight within my "Target Audiences" tutorial.

READ TUTORIAL: Target Audiences for Wealthy Affiliate

Everywhere you look someone could benefit from Wealthy Affiliate. Whether you are standing in line at a grocery story or chatting with a friend on Facebook. Wealthy Affiliate can benefit them and their lives in one way or another.

Whether they are retired, whether they are in college, employed or unemployed, business owners or looking to start a business, when you are promoting WA you are promoting to the biggest audience in the world...

People that want to create a business, people that want to do something they love or are passionate about, and people that want a platform to help them with every aspect of this.

Task 2: Choose a domain (free or paid)

The next step is going to be choosing a domain.

Ideally you want your own domain, so premium members are going to highly benefit from this as you get to host 25 of your own domains here at WA (as well as 25 free .siterubix.com websites). A domain is your own asset, you have full control.

You can get a domain for under $15 per year, and I highly recommend you use the SiteDomains domain registration platform within SiteRubix to purchase your domains. There are no upsells (like other domain registrars) and it is a completely seamless process to purchase a domain and set-up a website on it.

Get Your Own Domain Here! (must be premium member to "host" your own domains)

I recommend you choose something that is either very targeted to what the theme of your site is going to be about, or you choose a site that is very brandable. Either of which is completely fine.

There is a discussion thread taking place on domain selection and if you need any help choosing a domain, I suggest you join in on this discussion.

DISCUSSION: Choosing a Domain to Promote WA?

If you are not a Premium and you don't want to use your own domain just yet, you are going to be at a little bit of a disadvantage, but that is OK. We offer free websites here at Wealthy Affiliate that will work as well. You can simply skip the domain "buying" step if you plan using a free website.

Task 3: Building Your Website

Your next step is going to be to build your website. You will be doing this within the state of the art website platform here at Wealthy Affiliate, called SiteRubix.

==> Access Site Rubix Here!

You can access all of your website features and the website builder at any time simply by clicking the SiteBuilder section of the SiteRubix menu.

I always recommend choosing a simple theme, one that does not require too much work and definitely is clean of too many bells and whistles. The first focus is your content, secondary is the aesthetics of your site theme. Look at how simple the theme is that I chose!

Lots of white space, very simple in nature and puts the emphasis on the actual content.

There is a reason why sites like Craigslist.com and Reddit.com are so popular...their content. It has nothing to do with their ugly look!

DISCUSS VIDEO: Create a Website in Under 30 Seconds

Simply get your website installed today. That is your goal. If you are a Premium member just bought your domain today, it will be ready to rock very quick because of our Instant DNS process here within SitedDomains.

With SiteDomains your domain is usually very quick (sometimes in less than 3-5 minutes), with other registrars this process can take up to 24 hours!

Tasks 0/3 completed
2. Choose a domain (either free or buy your own)
3. Build your site using SiteRubix SiteBuilder

can someone help please? In this training course above Kyle says

"After you create your question, link to it from the most appropriate page "naturally" on your site."

What does linking to your site "naturally" mean? And am I just pasting the link on my site? Not linked to any text?

This is course 1 Lesson 9, Bootcamp
I am stuck!

If the appropriate page is on a specific topic. Find the keyword in your other article (the most relevant topic to the page you are linking to) and use that as the link text to send them to the other page.

My pages don't look like the pages in the video. For example, Si Captcha plug-in wasn't listed. I've upgraded to all the latest versions. Anything else I need to do?

Also, I thought I picked a simple theme. It is suggesting I add several plug-ins. Should I do this?

Thank you for any direction you can give. Debbie

Some themes ask you to try out a plugin that helps you utilize parts of the theme itself. It won't hurt anything. Try it and see if you like it. If not u can get rid of it.

I believe as far as the captcha plugin goes, a similar function has since been integrated already into your site so that's why he doesn't say to download it anymore. :)

You have to have added the Si Captcha in order for it to be on your plugin list - unless I'm missing something, here?

I would switch themes, find something with enough features you need so that you don't have to use a lot of plugins. Plugins slow your site down and too many (more than 4 or 5, usually) will hurt your visitors' experience and the site's rankings.
Reply
ericcantu Premium
Capcha is used to try and ward off spam comments by bots. Now we already have something that monitors spam comments automatically that is integrated in called Akismet so you don't have to download any capcha plugin.

Hi all. I moved my website from a siterubix domain to my own domain a couple weeks ago. I had to change the domain name from the siterubix name I had. Since moving, I am still only seeing the siterubix name at the top of each page, when I view in SiteRubix SiteManager.

My current site should be www.youchooseyourincome.com.

The previous one (siterubix) was:

www.chooseyourincome.com.

When I type in the new url I'm getting the old name at the top of the page, and I am not seeing any content, or menus (getting started, about, privacy).

Please help.

Well, I have a dumb question. I'm still a free member with a few days left, I've finished lesson 9, sooooo... start Affiliate Bootcamp? (I'll have to wait till payday to pay for premium) and one more question. There will be a lapse between the time my seven days run out and payday, what happens in the mean time? still have access to my dashboard, website, etc.?
Reply
Lucas1337 Premium
Yes just read and learn as much as you can for now, even the blog posts from other members are informative. When the 7 days run out you won't be able to comment or chat but you still have access to everything else, your website/dashboard/the free training, after about 2/3 weeks you get it again ( like a re-offer ).

So happy to share with you that I have completed Lesson 2, Phase I of the Bootcamp training. Was even brave enough to have purchased my own domain and the website set up for learning.

Thank you so much, Kyle, for your step by step instructions, and the tutorial on audience. Had it not been for your encouragement, I would not have been that brave.

Now that the website has been set up, the challenges before me are to make it work. Can't wait for the rest of the lessons to come in the next days and months.

Many thanks, Veronica, for giving us the Wealthy Affiliate Glossary - Workbook for IM Beginner. Very helpful.

Have been wondering if there are glossaries of similar nature at WA, such as, those on website building, media relationship building, etc., kind of quick references for the technical terms and abbreviations being used. Please kindly direct me to the source, if available.

Will be seeking all your help without ceasing, when I know more about how to ask the right questions. Meanwhile, will be most grateful for any advice offered.

There aren't any glossaries, but if there is ever anything that you need to know, use the search bar above. There have likely been many conversations about that exact topic in the past, there are literally 100,000's of past questions, blog posts, and training resources indexed within the search that you will be able to take full advantage of.

Awesome, nice work Peter. Off and running here. You may at some point want to consider getting moved to your own .com domain, but at your own pace.

A quick recommendation here, one thing that I always recommend is to "show" people more within your content instead of just "telling" them. By this I mean that you should not just let them know about something, you should walk them through a process. Help them. Use screenshots or images to represent what you are talking about.

This will lead to a much more enjoyable user experience and will also lead to much higher conversions.

HI guys I have a question,
The last box to tick in this lesson is "share your review socially".
The thing is that I have a day job and I don't want my company to know that i'm involved in an extra job activity. At least for now. Anyone in the same situation? should I just tick the box and pas over? or maybe I can do something else instead, share in some other way...Any advice?

Sharing socially means that you share you new post on our social media accounts. If you're on this WA platform right now and you're at work, what's the difference if you go on social media sites? Otherwise, do the sharing on your social media apps after work.
Reply
mmsplus Premium
You can tick the box,who knows it might get u some business from them. You are good at what u do so it shouldn't matter.Good luck.

One thing you can do, which a lot of people do as well is just to create an all new email just for your website/business. Use this email to sign up for facebook, Google+, twitter or whatever.

Those are your social media accounts for your website and you can share your review there. Since it is a brand new account you would have to gather up a following by actively seeking out those who may be interested in what your website has to offer.

Instead of the 160 character header I typed in while I was setting it up, my address and phone are now showing up on the description instead. Please see the attachment below.
Is this a theme issue? Or is there a way to resolve this? Thanks.

I can't quite see what you have copied here, but I think it can be changed, if you are using Yoast SEO you go to the site manager, then to the page or post, then scroll down to the SEO section and then to edit snippet.... enter the meta description you want and click ok - that should get things change. I haven't used all in one SEO for awhile do I don't know the process but you would change the same thing.

I do not see why a webpage might need to have your home address and telephone unless you want your customers to contact via your phone or visit you at home.
Usually that information is given to the domain register for legal purposes, but it does not needs to be on your webpage as far as I am aware.

Well, finding your niche is finding a group of people to write to. Because you are doing bootcamp (promoting making money online your topic), you can write to both audiences. Start with one audience like the university crowd, but essentially you are writing to people who want to make money online.

I started out want to speak to stay at home moms (I'm doing bootcamp too), but as I write, I find myself just doing a few posts towards them but the rest of my posts are geared to make money online niche in general.

I hope this helps a bit. :)

My website just got ranked on google (yesterday), but when I search for it now google says that it cannot find it and I need to use Google Console (which I have never heard of), to find it. So I searched with google console and it says I do not have access to this site as I am not the owner. It says that I need to download some file and add it to my website then go back to console to verify my site. is this normal or is there something wrong with my site? Also how do you add a file to your website?
Reply
HisbelA Premium
That sounds really strange. Normally you know that you have been indexed by Google because it appears on your Rubix. If you go into the google search and type your website address, it should come up straight away after that.
With respect to your second question, it depends which type of file you want to upload. If it is an image then you do it inside Rubix dashboard on Media. There is probably also an ftp way of uploading, but I have not used on the WA interface, although I remember reading it on a comment somewhere on WA. Look for it on the search box at the top.
Best wishes

The 50 sites are sites you can host on WA. 25 of them can be the free .siterubix.com subdomains. 25 of them can be URL's that you own outright. You need to pay for the registration of each site that you own ($13.99/year) hosting is covered by your WA Premium membership.

Hi FLedt don't worry to much about not herring it right away. All the pieces will fall into place. We all learn and process information in different ways. I don't know what you main theme is but always keep in mind that you are solving someone's problem by helping them make an informed decision.

My site is primarily focused on helping people start up an honest online business from home. But under pinning that it would be good if I helped them how to recognise a scam and how to avoid that potential threat. Also if they want to build a business from home they are going to need WA for website, hosting, training etc. I am including reviews on possible scams and also proposing good alternative like WA.

Go to www,scamsniper.com it might give you food for thought.

I was watching a webinar last night that talked about the importance of being a real person in your posts. You can actually leverage your imperfections. The presenter was talking about how one is more likely to trust someone who is honest about their limitations rather than the guy standing by the expensive car. I like that.

Another thought is that when you are trying to attract your audience, it is best to attract people who can relate to you as a person so they know, like, and trust you. People aren't really attracted to professional journal articles haha.

I've been trying to think of three themes and 10 topics for each for a few days and I'm starting to feel really stuck. I'm following along the Affiliate Bootcamp, so my website promotes WA. Here it is if anyone is willing to take a look -

Any tips on creating content would be appreciated. I don't want to give up on creating my website but I'm getting really frustrated.

Well this may be a little strange and unique. I got into this business by being an Affilorama student years ago. I signed up to WA last week and I love it for it's freshness and community. I am still a loyal Affilorama user although not a monthly subscriber. I feel I have the very best of both. Here's my take on it all:

Is this a siterubix site you are talking about or did you purchase your domain name?

You can always delete that website and build another. There is also the option to edit your website details under "Site Manager".

Brent, as Suzette says, first thing, is this a SR domain or your own domain name?

You can create a new SR, if you have purchased as domain name, then you can get a refund if you are still within grace period set out by the registrar...and purchase a new one.

You cannot however just change the domain name, either SR or you own, you need to create a new one.

Have you done the certification course or Bootcamp? But if you have finished one then just start on the next one. It will all become clearer the more you follow with the training. If you need more help never been scared to ask questions. xx
Reply
GrantSudduth Premium
Just follow the lessons. Thoroughly. Do all the tasks at the end and check them off once done. Then move on to the next lesson. If you have your own niche, then do the Certification Courses. If you're wanting to promote WA then do the bootcamp. Either way, don't jump around. Take the lessons in order.

hi Shahdba,

Welcome to WA!

So if you are done the first course, move onto the second. You do also have the option of the Search bar above, which will let you find more training/resources which may have the answers you require :)

I have just learnt a valuable lesson. When Kyle says start from the beginning there is a reason why he says it. I have been jumping ahead designing my website and missed some valuable tips along the way. I have come back to the boot camp and very glad I did as they is so much to learn.

Hi Flora, you can try going into your notifications. When you see the box that says 'view unread,' click on that and change it to 'view all.' That might be able to help you find the post, since you did have someone comment on it. Hope this helps. Excellent site btw. Very professional design, looks beautiful.

How do you position yourself as an affiliate in the IM niche when you are Not the Expert? How do you convince others to join Wealthy Affiliate? How do you create a FREE report when you don't have any income proof and case studies? How do you write emails as an affiliate to earn trust? How do you write blog posts to earn the trust from readers?
Reply
ericcantu Premium
Think of it like this, brother. If i give you a lawn mower and it's the first time you've ever used it, and afterward you were asked to do a report on how lawn mowers work, and how people can get paid using them, you'd do it pretty straightforward, no? Especially if you had someone handing you all the training of how they did it themselves. You follow the example, monkey see monkey do.

In the case of the WA bootcamp, you position yourself as an affiliate in the IM niche because you are taking action within that niche yourself. You have taken the step, and you are passionate about not just making money, but making money to fuel your passion, whatever that passion is.

You're sincere in your review of Wealthy Affiliate because you are proof positive that it works. You probably got here through another WA review from someone exactly in your shoes before you.

You create reports based on all the proof and case studies we have all around us in the WA community.

Most sports reporters aren't professional athletes, yet they have no problem reporting on them do they? They see where the athlete's success has led them and they sincerely report on it.

Early on you'll be doing just that. You don't have to be writing posts on how great a life you're living with all your commissions. That comes later. You're simply reviewing WA to start and all the incredible training available.

Then you could move on to a product review of something you really like or dislike, and you leverage that toward WA in the same way and that is all explained in the training. You'll get there, don't worry.

Doubts are completely normal, and that's what we're here for. Push forward with the training and you'll see the light :)

Hi Dennis,
I had the same problem the other day. For some reason, the submit button wasn't working. I had to enter the "ask a question" area a different way. I clicked on my profile picture, then at the top of the page where it says, blogs, questions, and training. I clicked on questions, then I typed my question in the box that said "type your question here". I was able to submit it that way. I hope this helps.

What was your question? Maybe I or someone else in the community can help.

I need help please. I am stuck with putting content together for my theme. My audience is Part-time employment. My theme is working part-time from home. My trouble is connecting this to wealthy affiliates. I have bullets like Pros and Cons to working part-time and why work from home. It's not flowing. Kyle makes it look so easy but this is not easy. I welcome your suggestions.

Thanks

I would go with something like saying WA is somewhat like working part time from home, but you aren't working part time for a paycheck instead you are working part time on your business ( there's a difference ).

The usual flow is you introduce whatever work at home part time job you have, and at the end of your post you can compare it to WA. Give some suggestions like " If your aim is to make more money you should try WA because it teaches you how to build your business, which will one day allow you to quit your job "

Or you could tell them to do both, work part time from home for money and work part time on WA, since we still have to put food on the table.

Hope this helps :D

If I may add another comment.....a book that was recommended to me that helped me with my writing is 'How To Write Copy That Sells' by Ray Edwards. Available on Amazon. I have no vested interest in it, not trying to sell any thing here just making a suggestion for a tool that helped me a lot. To quote: 'It's hard to write sales copy that doesn't feel 'salesy'. But copywriting is an essential business skill, no matter what business your in."

Unofficial review: I think WA is a great company with a lot of information to offer. I DO think it will take a lot of upfront work for any newbie to the online web design /website promoting and referral industry. With that being said, if I can do it, or attempt to do it with expectations of success, then ANYONE can. I think some of the things they suggest for us to do may not be 100% necessary or essential to actually be successful, but I do try to follow their input and opinions as much as I can because they obviously know what they're doing. So overall I give them 5 starts, just remember do what you are able to do, and don't stress the things you aren't quite sure about. Go back to it (make a note of where or what you may need to go back to at a later date) and that way you can look at it with a fresh perspective and maybe understand it better the second time you look at it. Always keep going, keep working on your website content and make it MEAN something to YOU and your audience. You can always go back and re-review the portions you still need to work on.

I have learned that Quite often Ubersuggest is down or does not suggest any keywords due to the Google API error. There is however light at the end of the tunnel and a modified version;

http://keywordtool.io/ubersuggest-alternative

Luckily, now we have a Keyword Tool that provides relevant keywords similar to Ubersuggest but is much better and faster

Hi, when you are logging into your site after pressing Site Manager there is a part that has things you can do and one of them is comments and one is feedback. To get any comments or feedback with WA you go to these parts and ask for them here. Hope this is helpful to you. Xx

Part of this lesson is to create a list of at least 5 products in this niche (making money online?) to review. My question is, how do I review a product without buying it? I haven't purchased any make money online products and definitely don't need to now that I have WA.

Thanks!
Reply
drjec Premium
It sounds odd, but you will have to do reviews of reviews. Research each method and see what others say. You can couch the reviews in what you want to see in a money making program online and then assess what ever people have found to a particular program
Reply
Lucas1337 Premium
The simple answer is do your research and compare.

Read other people's reviews to know the product. Technically those that are on the 1st page are those you want to eventually overtake anyway so it is also useful in that sense.

Another thing I like to do is watch youtube reviews as well. Trust me you will find a lot of them and sometimes they even show you the members area or something. Just listen to what they have to say.

With all of these information you have you can probably write about the product in general ( price, owner, products, etc ).

But what I personally like to do is sometimes agree with other people's review (usually i disagree since I review MLMs a lot). Sort of like " I've seen this guy saying this in a review but I don't think this is how you should look at it ... something something ".

Lastly since this is like your sales funnel, you want to steer people to WA ( if you feel it is appropriate ) so you might do some sort of a comparison like price comparison or training or whatever.

Sometimes products have free trial periods; I have done a few reviews this way. I sign up for the free trial and take the product for a test run and then write a review. I've done this with a couple of different website builders. I also research to see what others have to say, like drjec and Lucas have suggested.

Dear Friends,

I have one doubt... In the lesson four coach (Mr Kyle) advised us to create 3 themes and each themes need to have 10 topics.... So is that i need to write 30 topics in total in this task....If yes how to post it ... Example i have chosen 3 themes first themes is "Build a website" In that i created 10 topics related to Build a website, is that i need to post it under the same theme as 10 separete post.(is that the 10 topics i need to post ten times in the theme Build a website)Please advise
Reply
Lucas1337 Premium
Technically speaking your 10 build a website topics should be 10 different posts.

Usually people go for 1 topic per post. So yes you should post 10 times.

However when writing a new post it is not constrained to any theme or what not I believe . I personally post all my new posts on my homepage blog roll.

Hi Steve
It looks really good! I'm not sure if I would put the membership or the yearly cost. Sometimes when people see $0 dollars and then $300 they might not continue reading your post. On Kyle's page he has a specific link that he uses to send the customers there if they want more information. Hope that helps a little

You do need some images. I use a screen capture tool or just right click in windows and save image as. As long as you are using images that are not copyright protected. WA banners are great images.

Hi Steve,

You can get WA links and banners by clicking on the white airplane. To use the banners, copy and paste the code into your text editor.

To add other images, you can search for royalty free images to upload to your pages/posts. You can do this my clicking on "Add media" in your WP editor.

Here are a few articles you might find helpful: You can also try pixabay.com

I hope this helps.
