Welcome to the WA Affiliate Bootcamp! Are you ready to learn lots, have fun, and earn a bunch of commissions that will pay you over and over again? If so then you are in the right place.

Welcome to the official Wealthy Affiliate, AFFILIATE BOOTCAMP for 2016. This initial phase of the course is 10 lessons in length.

By taking part in this course, you are not just committing to 10 lessons. You should be committing yourself to creating a highly successful, long term business (which you will be learning). This won't happen overnight, but with some hard work and dedication to what you learn here, you can truly create a long term and very successful business.

This is the start of your exciting journey ahead!

If you make a commitment today, a few months from now you are going to be seeing awesome results. A year from now, I am absolutely positive that you can become an authority online and be making commissions EVERY SINGLE DAY...in fact you can have a full time business promoting WA.

Sound cool? It is going to become a reality for you!

Here are a few things you should know.

First thing, it does not cost a dime to take part in this boot camp training. It is 100% free.

Secondly, you don't have to be a Premium member already, although it will be highly beneficial to you if you are. If you are a Premium member of WA then it will lead to a much better understanding of the offer and what you are promoting. You can upgrade here if you have already been considering it (and are not already premium).

Understanding the WA Affiliate Opportunity

Here is the break down of how the affiliate program commission structure works:

Invites: They Join WA for Free

STARTER Member Commissions:

Initial $19 offer, Commission = $4
$49/mth, Commission = $11.25 recurring
$359/year, Commission = $87.50 recurring

If you are a Premium Member here at Wealthy Affiliate, you get 100% higher commissions as an affiliate and you also get to take part in our $1 credit program, which allows you to earn from free members you sign-up that set-up their accounts.

PREMIUM Member Commissions: (100% higher commissions!!!)

Credits: They Set-up their account = $1
Initial $19 offer, Commission = $8
$49/mth, Commission = $23.50 recurring
$359/year, Commission = $175 recurring!

**Note: on average 1:8 - 1:12 upgrade to yearly, depending on the affiliate

When you sign-up someone for free, your goal is to get them to set-up their account. Setting up ones account will lead you to an initial $1 (2 credits x $0.50). These add up when you are a Premium member.

When someone sets up their account, they are granted an initial $19 first month offer. This converts very well and almost everyone decides to stay after the first month because of the value, the quality of the services, the help they get, and the overall positive experience offered here at Wealthy Affiliate.

There is no other program like Wealthy Affiliate in the world....and we fully stand behind that statement.

Yearly commissions happen frequently and they offer a hefty pay day of $175 each. Make a few of these per day and you are looking at over $10,000 per month! Through the Affiliate Bootcamp we are going to get you to the point where you are making these regularly.

Alright perfect, let's get straight into your Day 1 Tasks.

Task 1: Add Your Affiliate Goals in terms of Referrals to the Discussion

We have created a discussion where you can add your affiliate goals, not just for the upcoming bootcamp though. I am a long term guy myself. I know what can be accomplished in a year...a year is a like a blink in time and before you know it next year is going to be here.

What if you could make 100 referrals by next year...what about 200...what about 500....a 1000? Be realistic, but be unrealistic. You never reach goals that you thought were unattainable if you never set them.

Add your goals here within the following thread.

==> ADD YOUR GOALS: What are your WA Promotional Goals?

Also, comment on AT LEAST two other people's goals within the thread. This is a community here at WA and we are all here to help one another succeed.

You can begin your networking now and you are going to build some awesome relationships which will only further your online success. So take a minute and encourage at least two other people with their goals as well.

I want to let you know about something as well. If you can reach 300 unique referrals through the course of this year, we are going to fly you to Vegas for a private conference (fully paid)!

Yes, you read that correctly! This should give you an immediate goal to strive for.

Do you think that there are 300 people in this world you could connect with and show them the benefits of Wealthy Affiliate? I absolutely know that you can!

You will notice the "airplane icon" within the header with a countdown. This will tally all unique sales and as you make them, it will show your countdown to reach Las Vegas! (see below)

If you click the "airplane" icon, it will open up a quick access menu to all your affiliate tools.

Task 2: Check Out the 2017 Las Vegas Blog Post

You want to make it to Las Vegas in 2018? Read about the experience from the most recent years conference. It was the most powerful, amazing conference to date and we would love nothing more than to have you there next year!

DISCUSSION: Vegas 2017, Epic. Vegas 2019 Will Be Next Level.

Task 3: Watch the Affiliate Program Walk through

Here is an introduction video to Wealthy Affiliate. This is going to give you an overview of your stats pages and show you around the set-up of your affiliate account.

DISCUSS VIDEO HERE:
The Affiliate Program Walk-through

It is important that you go through this so you fully understand the process.

Task 4: Officially Join the Affiliate Bootcamp

We run promotions throughout the year and update our affiliate program regularly. We want to keep you informed of any timely offers that you can take advantage of. We will also be able to connect with you to offer specialized training, promotional materials, motivation, and new advancements to the Bootcamp course.

You Are Already Officially Part of Affiliate Bootcamp!

This is a necessity if you want to become a top affiliate. I want you to take a second right now and officially join Affiliate Bootcamp by clicking the button above. It is going to help you keep on track, keep you informed, and is going to allow us help you make more money! This is a requirement to continue with this course...and something that is going to help you out as well!

Getting Back to Bootcamp

Before I leave you today, I just wanted to explain how you get back to where you left off within Bootcamp. You simply want to click the BLACK "Affiliate Bootcamp" button within the main menu and this will always take you back to your last completed task. It is a smart button.

This allows you to automatically know exactly where you left off within the training without having to dig around to find. Below the Affiliate Bootcamp text, you will also see your "Progress" showing you exactly what lesson you are on. As you complete the tasks within the training, you will move through the Affiliate Bootcamp Lessons so make sure you check off the tasks as you complete them.

Tasks 0/4 completed
1. Add Your Affiliate Goals in terms of Referrals # to the Discussion
2. Comment on at least 2 other people's goals
3. Tell us if you plan on making the Las Vegas Conference in 2018!

Hello, I'd like to make a suggestion. I'm the kind of person that enjoys having a checklist of "To-Do" actionable items list. If you don't already have this, I'd love to make a suggestion of you providing one step-by-step! The videos are excellent but a checklist would be outstanding! Furthermore, if I am incorrect and you do have a step-by-step checklist of how to build my site, I'd drool over said checklist - It would make my day!

Hi all, well I have just completed lesson 3.......and it has taken me ages to do so. The reason being I'm not all that tech savvy when it comes to the internet or even my laptop?
The good part is that I am learning some very exciting new things here at WA. Thanks to the wonderful community and also the way Kyle and Carson have put it all together....absolutely brilliant.
I have not as yet published my 3 pages but will do so shortly I would like to put a Header on to my "About me " before pressing that publish button.

Great training and really exciting to build the pages and see it come to life!

In the training, mentioned that the plugins do not matter for now nevertheless in case it's needed later on the following are not available:-
(2) Exclude Pages from Navigation (simply activate)
(3) SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam (already set-up)
(1) Akismet (used for stopping spam)
(2) Google Analytics (for website traffic and user metrics)

Also, some of the dashboard features look different from that in the training but was still able to follow.

Also in terms of email what is the recommendation. Would it be better to create one with the domain name or keep the existing personal email.

Thanks again for the helpful training and tips. Feeling proud to be a member of a program that takes you meticulously step by step!

Kyle and team are working to update the content. But it's good that you that you brought it up.

A couple things that might also be helpful to know:

Unlike the myriad other hosting companies out there, WA has done a great job at stopping comment spam at the source.

So the captcha and akismet aren't really needed at all.

The Exclude Pages plugin I think is unnecessary because you can do the same thing by manually keeping your menu up to date.

I think you might be looking in the wrong spot though, because all those plugins are available for download, they likely just aren't included by default or something.

Out of the list you provided, I think the only one that is necessary in any way (when you get to that point) is Google Analytics.

As in an email you want to use in conjunction with your website?

If you are hosting your site with WA, then I'd set up an email with your domain by going through your the Site Rubix system.

It's always best to use email addresses that are to your domain whenever possible.

Nice, I finished lesson 2. I love how the tasks are focused and to the point. It's very easy to get distracted once you navigate away from this page.

Also buying a domain from WA is straight forward compared to "shopping around" and being distracted.

I was able to focus on my task of setting up the webpage and not worry about the technical details.

Getting a lot of ideas from the other members' pages, great work everyone.

I have one suggestion for anyone that hasn't done so yet = download and install "Grammarly", it's free and I use the Chrome extension to check spelling and grammar as I type. Really helps to avoid typos and poor grammar.

I also have a question - my Getting Started page is not that obvious on the theme that I've chosen and would like to make it more prominent. The blog is the most prominent but as I add more blogs that will go away, eventually to the archives. Where can I put the Getting Started text so that it will stand out from About Me and Privacy Policy?

Thanks in advance,
Ed

If u want people to land on your getting started page instead of the blog then go to Settings>reading>and select static front page, choose getting started page from the drop down box, save and that is it. Now when people come to your site for the first time they will land on that page. Hope this helps

Hi Ed thank you for the tip on Grammarly, downloaded it and works great no more pesky mistakes,
what I did to make my "getting started" page more prominent was to hide most of the other pages I created, especially the "about me" page, so in my top menu I have 3 pages, getting started, and 2 other pages one on my theme and the privacy policy page.

Hope this helps

Am I understanding this wrong? If I select 3 and make them pages, I can't put 10 articles under them can I? Would they not need to be set up as categories? Sorry, I am not a veteran with Wordpress. But, with my original blog, instead of adding pages to the menu, I chose categories. That way when I wrote a post, I could choose where I wanted it to be displayed.
Reply

Hi ksholloman,
I came to your question to see if i could help, but now I have questions of my own!
Pages are static, so no, you can't put articles under them (which makes no sense to me either!) I think your idea to create categories is excellent.
Originally wordpress was ONLY a scrolling blog. They added the ability to use pages and categories later. I've seen some really awesome themes that help you lay things out differently, but I haven't played around with them enough to answer questions. I do know that changing themes can mess up your image placements.
Best of luck!

I'm having trouble grasping the big picture. I've created the 3 themed pages and need to write content for each. Once this is done, do these pages stay constant in the menu on the top. When I continue to post each week, do I add to these pages or just have a rolling blog on my first page? Or do I write a new post each week for each of these themes. Thanks for walking me through this. Debbie
Reply
Gunnertwist Premium
For now u keep the three themed pages as is. As u go through the next lessons u will be shown how to add a blogroll and what to post on it. So it is coming really soon in the training. I am a little ahead of u in training and so far I have 7 pages and then my blogroll which has 4 posts on it so far, soon to be 5 here in the next couple of days, then onto the next training. :)

I am not sure why I tried to activate both plug-in, like in the lesson and I could find only the SEO. I couldn't find the one for "exclude page for navigation". I even have changed my theme, because I thought it was a theme problem. No luck. The other theme was the same way. I wrote down trying to find it. No use. What is going on?

I had the same problem with a site I just created, and it doesn't seem to be offered on the standard build anymore, but they haven't yet updated the training to reflect this. I have a site that's a couple days older, and the plugin is on that one. I checked it out, and it hasn't been updated in 5 years, and it says it hasn't been tested with the latest version of WordPress.
I wouldn't worry about it, and just proceed with the training.

Yeah, it was strange as a new person to WA (but not new to WordPress) to build my first site with a version of WP that needed updating and had one set of plugins, and a day or two later, I build another site, and it already had the latest WP installed and it had a different set of plugins! I could see how someone new to WordPress could be confused by all this.

Have a great day!

I have a question; when I go to do the "add user" part of the lesson, the "email" notification reverts to an email address that I would like to change. When I try to "edit" it, the change does not take effect. I'm trying to use the email address that I used when I first signed up here at WA; thomasarillotta@hotmail.com, but it keeps reverting back to tomarillotta@hotmail.com. Maybe somewhere here in my records the tomarillotta@hotmail.com is on file somewhere. Can I change that? How? I would like to consolidate all my contact info to be directed under one email address; thomasarillotta@hotmail.com.

Here's my question: As an affiliate promoting WA and you were to place an internet ad somewhere, would you have the ad include your own WA affiliate link to may go directly to your own website OR have the WA affiliate link that we were given featured in the ad so the prospect would be taken directly to the WA landing page?
Reply

The banner ads provided go to the wealthy affiliate landing page, but you could change the code in them to go to your own website I'm sure. If you were to do that though, it would be best to send them to your review of wa

It is sort of a decision that you make on what kind of ad you're doing. If the image is of WA and that is what you are promoting go with the WA custom link. If you are disseminating information on the opportunity or need to show the features link to you're review

I like the site and the program of learning online. I am more of an "old-school' type of learner or student, with a BA earned in 1976 in Psychology & Social Work Practicum. I will also happen to be 70 years very young on July 4th of this year. I like text materials to study and each time I have considered printing the course or program material into a book form, some sort of block or images imposes itself on the pages I want to print and can't be removed. I do like the centennial age and computers but despise having one try to think or act for me without my asking or telling it to do so. If U have any answer for this, I am eager to listen and learn. Thanks for lending an ear!!

Hello WLG. Your Site is nice but extremely long. Also, your content sits far too low. I myself am a person that likes to get right down to business or I'm going to become very bored reading so much material first hand. I've been in several Networking Opportunities and have seen far less work on Company Sites and yet quicker results. You know the saying.... less is more...

Just my two cents. I wish you all the best. You will win those who enjoy reading lots of stuff, I believe. :) Nice Pic. GOD Bless.

My website is:
https://makemoneyonlinenotscams.com/avoid-scams

Now I updated the theme and just noticed I have two pages called Avoid Scams (this is the one above and should be Building a Website) ... Avoid Scams1 ...

Can anyone suggest how I can fix this ... I am sure it is probably very simple. I would also value comments on my page as above, for some reason I can't put a comment/reply at end of page so you will have to comment on Home page please. Thank you so much :) Mary

Try to. Update the permalink in which it is mentioned avoid- scams to building-a-website. I guess this should work out.
I checked you site, the content is informative. But I think you have not made the comment section active on your pages which run contents.

To activate your comment section. Go to All Pages in your WP admin. Beneath all the theme title you could see Edit/ Quick edit. CLICK on Quick edit in there you can put tick on the allow comment column. It will set up your comment. But be sure you are activating only on pages which has content.

Hi Bless,

I have tried but can not see comment on anywhere to tick .. I asked Kyle and he says some themes do not allow comments on pages only on home page ...

I did change theme but it still is the same ... I also can't seem to get the menu to show across .. it was a one time but has gone back to one button again and I can't remember what I did to change it ..

I will keep trying to get comments on all pages i have content on and i hope to have more done soon on ones that aren't up and running yet ...

Hi Bless,

Thank you so much ... I got the web address fixed ... it is now:

https://makemoneyonlinenotscams.com/building-a-website

and have activated comments ... don't know what I was doing before but couldn't get them to work. Delighted now and must check that I get to the website now that I changed it is quick edit ...

Is there something I can do on Homepage to put in a picture to make it look a bit more attractive ... there is probably training later and maybe I should wait for it ... I am now trying to get ahead of myself ..

Thanks again,
Mary

Hi all,

Hope all is going well for you with WA!

I am at the point of sharing my review on my social media sites, but I do not have email responses if I do here from anyone. Is there a section for setting these up? In the past I used some auto and then of course wrote responses.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Nico, did you check on google as yourself or did you do it incognito? The refresh may take a while after you posted it, but it will happen. Also if you go on google as yourself you will not get a true picture of your ranking. It is best to go on incognito. I hope this helps.

I'm choosing themes based on the "work from home" target audience, and If I chose the theme "ways to work from home" like Kyle mentioned, how would I be able to come up with 10 topics on the different ways to work from home, while still trying to promote Wealthy Affiliate? Wouldn't mentioning other ways besides wealthy affiliate be counter-productive to what I'm trying to do with my site?
Reply
Lucas1337 Premium
To start off, there are many ways to work from home, definitely more than 10. Transcription, freelance writing, surveys, or even selling physical products on Amazon comes to mind.

If your aim is to promote WA then you can compare those methods to WA. You can try comparing the earning potential, effort needed or learning curve of one method against WA ( which is basically blogging and affiliate marketing ). If you feel lost, you can check out other member's sites for inspiration, those who made it to Vegas is a good place to start. ( you can check mine out if you click on my profile *hint )

Hi guys,

Its been an awesome experience getting my website into shape.

I must say that there is light at the end of the tunnel with my affiliate. It will pay for sure.

Creating contents can be somewhat challenging but with the tutorial and constant practice i can handle it.#

However with regards to Kyle's lesson on showing rather than just telling in our post, i would like to know how i can use those illustrative picture with red marks directing people how to do or use a particular thing........ How do you do it?

It would help if you review 147idea.com as well

That is definitely one I haven't been able to answer, I know you can use something like snippet to capture the screen shot, which is what I use but I also can't get those solid lines around the area I am trying to show.

I know my gf is a photographer and she uses a pad with a pen that can allow you to do that but you may have to purchase it. Hopefully, someone else could shed some light on this subject.

.After signing in to SiteRubix click on <settings> then <Discussion Settings>.
There you should find a checkbox for "Allow people to post comments on new articles".
Make sure this is checked.
I hope this works for you. I am using WPTouch, so your settings may be different unless you install WPTouch.

Hi Mary, don't know if this is still bothering you or not.

First, WP, by default, disables comments on pages, and it is pretty rare you cannot enable it, it generally has nothing to do with themes and is a different setting to the 'Allow people to post comments on new articles'.

First, consider whether you want to allow commenting on pages or not, you don't always need them, commenting on posts alone is usually fine. Then consider whether you want them on all pages of specific pages.

So to allow comments on a specific/single page. Go to Pages > All Pages...Find the page you want to allow comments and click on Quick Edit. In the pop-up you will see a box, appropriately named Allow Comments, tick it and then press Update, job done, you should see a comment section for your page. See the pics.

To allow comments on all/multiple pages, again go to Pages > All Pages and either select the top tick box to select all pages or select the ones you wish to allow comments on. Then drop the down Bulk Actions menu and select Edit and then hit Apply. In the new window, find the 'Comments' drop-down menu and select Allow, then hit Apply. See pics

You can then check using the first method to see if your page now allows comments, and you should see a comments box on your page when you browse to it. You can also list the comments on that page, by going to the page inside WP, drop down the Screen Options tab and select Comments. See last Pic.

With your menu, go to Appearance > Menus...Select the menu yo wish to edit...find the page you wish to remove, expand it and select Remove, then hit Save Menu.

Let me know if you need more input.

Regards

Neil

I need help guys. So when I was making my pages. I thought I would have them kinda be like sections of my website and I would have dated posts in them. Or maybe a table of contents in each page so people could find the specific product review they were looking for.

Instead pages just seem to be individual posts. And basically I'm looking for better ways to organize my website. Any help would be much appreciated

Pages are different to posts. The menu along the top of your site are your pages and you can have them as drop down menus as you add more related pages. Posts form your blog roll which can be found on the side menu under recent posts. Thats it, don't over complicate it, your site looks fine.

this video might help you.

If the appropriate page is on a specific topic. Find the keyword in your other article (the most relevant topic to the page you are linking to) and use that as the link text to send them to the other page.

Also, I thought I picked a simple theme. It is suggesting I add several plug-ins. Should I do this?

Some themes ask you to try out a plugin that helps you utilize parts of the theme itself. It won't hurt anything. Try it and see if you like it. If not u can get rid of it.

I believe as far as the captcha plugin goes, a similar function has since been integrated already into your site so that's why he doesn't say to download it anymore. :)

You have to have added the Si Captcha in order for it to be on your plugin list - unless I'm missing something, here?

I would switch themes, find something with enough features you need so that you don't have to use a lot of plugins. Plugins slow your site down and too many (more than 4 or 5, usually) will hurt your visitors' experience and the site's rankings.

Capcha is used to try and ward off spam comments by bots. Now we already have something that monitors spam comments automatically that is integrated in called Akismet so you don't have to download any capcha plugin.

Hi all. I moved my website from a siterubix domain to my own domain a couple weeks ago. I had to change the domain name from the siterubix name I had. Since moving, I am still only seeing the siterubix name at the top of each page, when I view in SiteRubix SiteManager.

My current site should be www.youchooseyourincome.com.

The previous one (siterubix) was:

www.chooseyourincome.com.

When I type in the new url I'm getting the old name at the top of the page, and I am not seeing any content, or menus (getting started, about, privacy).

Please help.

Well, I have a dumb question. I'm still a free member with a few days left, I've finished lesson 9, sooooo... start Affiliate Bootcamp? (I'll have to wait till payday to pay for premium) and one more question. There will be a lapse between the time my seven days run out and payday, what happens in the mean time? still have access to my dashboard, website, etc.?
Reply

Yes just read and learn as much as you can for now, even the blog posts from other members are informative. When the 7 days run out you won't be able to comment or chat but you still have access to everything else, your website/dashboard/the free training, after about 2/3 weeks you get it again ( like a re-offer ).

So happy to share with you that I have completed Lesson 2, Phase I of the Bootcamp training. Was even brave enough to have purchased my own domain and the website set up for learning.

Thank you so much, Kyle, for your step by step instructions, and the tutorial on audience. Had it not been for your encouragement, I would not have been that brave.

Now that the website has been set up, the challenges before me are to make it work. Can't wait for the rest of the lessons to come in the next days and months.

Many thanks, Veronica, for giving us the Wealthy Affiliate Glossary - Workbook for IM Beginner. Very helpful.

Have been wondering if there are glossaries of similar nature at WA, such as, those on website building, media relationship building, etc., kind of quick references for the technical terms and abbreviations being used. Please kindly direct me to the source, if available.

Will be seeking all your help without ceasing, when I know more about how to ask the right questions. Meanwhile, will be most grateful for any advice offered.

There aren't any glossaries, but if there is ever anything that you need to know, use the search bar above. Awesome, nice work Peter. Off and running here. You may at some point want to consider getting moved to your own .com domain, but at your own pace.

A quick recommendation here, one thing that I always recommend is to "show" people more within your content instead of just "telling" them. By this I mean that you should not just let them know about something, you should walk them through a process. Help them. Use screenshots or images to represent what you are talking about.

This will lead to a much more enjoyable user experience and will also lead to much higher conversions.
