Today we are going to be adding our very first review to our site, appropriately this will be your "Wealthy Affiliate Review". Product/Services reviews are going to be a critical component of your success going forward as it is going to allow you to convey to your audience which products are effective, and which products are not so effective.

People RESEARCH before they BUY...

If you can offer a thorough review of a product or service, then you are going to expedite the decision process and it will lead to much higher conversions.

Think about your last purchase you made online...in fact think about your journey into Wealthy Affiliate. Did your research Wealthy Affiliate before you joined? Most likely, yes.

Many people spend hours looking for a quality review that will send them in one direction or another. A positive review can be a powerful thing and that is what we are going to be doing today.

So today is going to be your introduction to reviews. I have created a video overview of this lesson that you can watch below.

DISCUSS VIDEO:
An Introduction to Creating Reviews

Task 1: Write Your Wealthy Affiliate Review

When I create a website, I typically have a "template" that I try follow for all of my reviews. This leads to much more uniformity within your website and it will make your experience a much nicer one for your visitors.

Here is a sample of the review outline that I am using:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PRODUCT_NAME
Overall Ranking: {rank goes here]
Price: {price of product(s) go here}
Owners: {owner names}
Website: {website URL}

INTRODUCTION

{Information about the product goes here}

PROS/CONS

{A list of the pros/cons of the product}

WHO IT IS FOR

{Who benefits from this product? Is it a good program for beginners/intermediate/advanced?}

TRAINING/TOOLS OVERVIEW

{what is included with the product in respect to training and tools}

SUPPORT

{does the product offer quality and timely support? Can you contact the owner directly?}

PRICE

{How much does the product costs? Are their several price points?}

FINAL OPINION/VERDICT

{A final synopsis along with your recommendation (Wealthy Affiliate)}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can see my Wealthy Affiliate Review here...

Wealthy Affiliate Review - My Unique Take

You can use a similar template if you like or use some of the ideas from my theme, but remember you are going to be doing several product reviews on your site, so choose "topics" that you will be able to keep consistent across all of your reviews.

Also do know that your topics within your reviews, your headline should be different for every review/page on your site. Something like "Support" as a headline might not be all that captivating to your reader, something like "The Type of Support You Can Come to Expect at Wealthy Affiliate".

The titles and headlines within all of your content should "foreshadow" what is coming up ahead in the next block of content, but always do so in a captivating and interesting way.

Show, Don't Just Tell

Within your review, you will notice that I have given folks specific examples as to how Wealthy Affiliate will benefit them. I show them specific things like the Live Chat and how that will benefit them in terms of support.

Wealthy Affiliate is by far the most interactive, helpful, and thorough platform anywhere in the world for building a business online. You simply need to SHOW people that and they will be interested.

Here are some things that you can show them:

  • How the support works within WA (the many ways)
  • The training and how it is beneficial
  • How easy it is to build a website (in any niche)
  • The state of the art website building platform
  • The managed Wordpress hosting services and access to 24/7 support
  • How you get almost instant support if you have website/hosting issues
  • Interacting and networking with others/us
  • Live video classes and how interactive the training is
  • etc.

This could be absolutely anything, but show people from your perspective what WA is and how it will benefit them versus just "telling" them what it is. Think "personal review" versus a "describing a company" and your reviews will come up that much more trustworthy.

Task 2: Create a list of products you can review

Your next task is going to be coming up with a list of FIVE products in the niche that you are going to be able to review (either in a positive or negative way).

There are many ways you can find products...

  • Search for scam protection sites (RipOffReport.com, BBB.org, etc)
  • Search for new product sites
  • Check out other review sites in the industry (IMReportCard.com, etc)
  • Search for “product + niche”...
  • Search networks like Clickbank.com
  • Review products/services you are already using for your business
  • Use Google, it is your friend

Think of product reviews this way, it is easy to sell WA compared to any other product out there. Our free service typically supersedes many of the paid services out there. The Premium tends to offer WAY MORE than anything else there.

Wealthy Affiliate is a potential option and it will be easy to compare WA along side other companies.

There are also many products and services that you will likely use throughout your journey online, many that become an important aspect of your business (like your autoresponder, like your tools, etc).

These will also serve to be very powerful with your promotions and your affiliate income and you will be able to generate income from many different affiliate programs (multiple streams), not just that of Wealthy Affiliate.

Task 3: Post your WA review here for feedback

I have created a thread that you should post your Wealthy Affiliate review to when it is complete.

DISCUSSION: Add Your Wealthy Affiliate Review (your link)

After you add your website, make sure that you go through and offer at LEAST 2 comments on other people's reviews that have been posted within the thread. Please comment on their actual website not within the actual discussion. :)

Tasks 0/5 completed
1. Write Your Wealthy Affiliate Review
2. Create a list of at least 5 Products You Can Review
3. Post your WA review for feedback (within discussion thread)
4. Offer Your Comment on 2 other WA Review sites
5. Share Your Review Socially (Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, G+, Email)

The "about me" page seems to pretty important. I have looked at several sites looking for inspiration but all of the people i checked seem to have been doing this for many years. I'm a complete noob to this. Does anybody have any ideas on what a novice can say on the "about me" page?

Thanks a lot

It's an about you page - but it is about your readers. What is it about you that can help your reader. For example, you sell tshirts for breast cancer. You don't talk about how you were in the army and now you are retired and looking to make money. You talk about your sister who beat breast cancer and who has inspired you to support the cause and raise awareness about breast cancer. I don't kno if I am making sense, but if you have any more questions about it, just shoot me a line. Good luck.

Thank you for your input. I can understand if I was selling a product, but this is for the affiliate programme. Most people state they have been marketing on line since college and then share their success. I have no history in this line of work.

Neither do I - what niche are you doing in this area? I am doing how to make extra money. Talking about ways to earn extra money & why people need to do so. Then talking about ways I have tried to make extra money. Then working the WA opportunity into that.

Hey, Worden!

Your review is good, but it lacks a few stuff,
For instance, you should add more images in order to document what you're telling,
Try to be a bit interactive while writing. ask some questions and make the reader wonder about what you have to say next.
Other than that, the site looks simple and good and you're doing well

Tried to leave you a comment, but comments are not activated for your post,

I would be glad if you'd give m article a bit of your time :))

So I know this is going to sound crazy but how do I share my review on social media? I actually have to create some of these account - I am literally an internet new guy. Is it as simple as copy and paste or is there a technique I should use to make it more professional?

Thanks Team!

U can just copy the URL of the page u want to share and paste it in u social media post box and hit post. Each social media, like FB, Twitter, Google+ etc have a place to share your posts. U usually just write a small blurb about the page and then paste the URL right below it and hit the post button and it shares it. U used youtube to learn how to post in each social media that I created accounts with. Hope this helps u a little.

If you're at the part where Kyle asks you to write a Wealthy Affiliate review then that's exactly what you're going to do, brother :) He talks step by step on how to not only talk about WA but to *show* why it's such a great platform.

All your future posts including your reviews will of course revolve around your niche. Stick with that training and keep it up!

First, if u are doing your own niche then u should be the Certification Course and not Bootcamp. Bootcamp is strictly for promoting WA. That is the niche.
Second, the answer is yes, u will do a review of WA and then u will eventually do 5 more reviews of other programs like WA and how they rate compared to WA.
If u are doing your own niche then u should be doing the course under the green tab.

I have a question at this point: Which marketing would be more powerful to get as many referrals to WA as possible, article marketing, niche marketing or website marketing? I mean, if I have a cooking, gourmet food website, or a tea, nutrition, and health-related website, how can I effectively get as many referrals as possible with these kinds of websites? Is that possible? Or, I better establish a brand new website just for promote WA to get referrals?
Reply
OCantos1 Premium
I'm not sure, but I'm trying the angle of inviting people who might want to start their own website to join WA and place your affiliate link. I use a text widget. For example, "If you're interested in creating your own online business like mine, start here." Although, it may take someone away from your niche, but it can take them to your affiliate link. Hope this helped. Good luck.
Reply
Gunnertwist Premium
The best way to get referrals is to do the bootcamp here. It will teach u how to get referrals for WA. Trying to promote WA with Cooking could be a little tricky to do as u are trying to target 2 diff audiences at the same time.
Reply
Moz Premium
...if it is 'as many as possible' you are looking for then even though you can slip in an ad on your nutrition website, or a post or an article - it would not be the main drive or the way to 'get the most possible', though it certainly could be a very good way to get some...so I'd include it as an option and have a page for opportunities such as WA on my health niche website

I will also be re-starting my bootcamp site which I'd hope picks up more than at my health site, websites do take work and passion - those are things to consider too when starting up a second site - if you have one site already do you want to bring that up to a strong place in terms of posting 3-5 times a week as well as optimizing your SEO to get properly ranked, it is possible to do both, just know what you are taking on and pace it out timewise

trying to choose my domain name and am having a nightmare.

The problem is that I want to start this thing with a site that i can scale in the future. I am going to be promoting WA but once that's working well, I want to expand into promoting some of the entrepreneurs and businessmen that I follow, giving tips on productivity and increasing income. Generally deciding what you want and going all out to get it! So to me the domain name is important. I've come up with a few...

advanceandconquer.com

get-wealth.com

super-life-now.com

Any thoughts?

Recommendation: Choose a single Niche per website...
You have 50 websites as your finger tips.

If I like to find out the most about a camera I'm interested... I'd go to a camera store where I'm assured that everyone there knows about "cameras".

In a department store.. that may not be true.

I feel it applies to online websites as well.

Also heard others say the same thing.

Just food for thought..
Reply

thanks so much for your advice, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

for now I'm going with becometheentrepreneur.com

I like the way it sounds and, in the future, I think I would really enjoy running a site that helped people with a variety of personalities, likes, dislikes etc... As long as somebody is ambitious and positive... they're my kind of people and I'd love to be in a position to help.

I think maybe when I've got the skills honed a little I'll work on building multiple websites for slightly "tighter" niches, as a purely money making thing.

Thanks again

Another trick you can do, if you have a Gmail account is to use a plus sign and a label to create a virtual email address that still sends emails to your existing one...

For example, if your Gmail address was bobbit@gmail.com you could use bobbit+example@gmail.com as your email address when creating the new user.

Any emails sent to bobbit+example@gmail.com would land in your normal inbox (bobbit@gmail.com)

You're welcome - I use this every time I sign up to a new list. That way if I start getting spammed, I'll know where it came from.

The other cool thing is that you can create filters in gmail to automatically filter emails that come in on different virtual addresses - to a folder or to the bin. :)

yes it is quite a challenge. But it is a good idea to form a list of things you could write about, before you start writing. I made that mistake of just writing straight away. I ended up being unhappy with the theme and had to scrap it and start over.

Its a good idea to keep in mind/keep track of the following:
- your goal with the website
- your niche within bootcamp
- to write about one subject at a time

Than you can make a plan on which themes you want to write and what you want to explain (subjects).

Than you can start writing articles based upon the list of subjects and categories.

And after that initial writing, you need to keep the site alive with updated info, progress of yourself, reviews of products and services concerning your niche and driving traffic to your WA recruiting pages.

Good luck!

Hello All. I have a couple of questions:
1) If I set up a free website, if I move up to premium can I take that with me and simply just change the domain suffix? I would then own that site?
2) I have a catchy name for an affiliate website for spotting scams etc. (Spotthecrock) This doesn't have a "scam" type keyword in there. How could I ensure that this would get picked up in a search or maybe it simply wouldn't get picked up?
Reply
ericcantu Premium
When you do decide to go premium after having a siterubix free domain, you don't change the domain suffix, you have to see if the domain you like is available, and if it is then you make the purchase and with the touch of a button you can move your siterubix domain content over to your paid domain.

Early on your posts will all be getting picked up by their individual titles as opposed to people finding your website itself. So if you really like your site name even though it doesn't have "scam" in it, it's not going to hurt your posts from being found and ranked. Obviously there is an advantage to having a website that itself is a keyword that may be found in a google search, but it doesn't necessarily have to be like that.

JohnG123 Premium
Welcome Jhonson. Good questions. ericcantu answered nicely. As a suggestion, read through the lesson in Get Started Here and Affiliate Bootcamp. The first 7 days are completely free and the lessons show you how to do it. I had my first page up and running in 3 day and I'm a slow reader. I wasn't making money, but I had a page on the internet for free and lots of free lessons to show me how to make my site make me money. If you will read the lessons you will see WA is an awesome site and it won't cost you anything. Good luck here at WA.

The Links are with your id Debbie. You will be notified if you have referrals joining you. Click on the Airplane and it will take you to your links and banners. You should be able to click on the banner you copy and pasted and then click the little edit icon and insert a custom URL.
The best way to do this is putting your banner into a widget and then it is always on your site. There are codes to embed as well. Hope this helps a bit.

OK..watched the video..I'm good unit the last page. When I add media, the banner is inserted into the page, but I don't see where I do all the other stuff on your last page of the video. My file was saved as .png. Is that correct? Do i save the code link into a Word file or does it matter....just anywhere i can access it. Thanks again.. One last thing...I create my pages in Word and then copy them into WordPress. Can I follow your steps in Word or do I have to add the media in WordPress?

Hello, I don't know how to find the previous training page about creating Privacy Policy page to ask the question there, so I will ask it here where I'm now with the training. Does anyone know why my privacy policy page appears twice on my website? What setting in my admin page did I miss for that? I'm asking this here hoping that I'll get an answer faster than maybe half hour of digging through WordPress or Siterubix support pages. Thank you.

In your website dashboard click on PAGES. Find the Privacy Policy you do not want and send it to the trash.

Not sure why it is showing up twice.
Reply
Chezbrown Premium
It sounds like you have entered the box for the privacy policy on the menu bar twice. If you go to appearance then menu and at the side it will tell you what is all on the menu bar, check if it says privacy policy more than once and then just delete one of them.

Hope this is a help. xx

Hello Barry, thank you for your reply, it's showing up twice on the website and once in the admin dashboard. Plus, I don't see the "Include this page in the list of pages" option to uncheck it.

You may have listed it twice in your menu. Go to appearance then menu to check.

Also the "exclude page" is a plug in and should appear on the right side of your page when in your visual editor.

Get back to me until we solve this. Let me know.

Hi Cheryl, thank you very much, very helpful piece of advice you gave me. In Appearance - Menus I discovered that I had also "About me" and "Getting started" pages added twice, I removed them, but now I discovered that my front menu is aligned to the right, thus it doesn't look right. Another stepping stone of troubleshooting to do in the way to success online.

Your best bet is to start at lesson one, complete the tasks at the end of the lesson and then go to lesson two.

Stick closely to the lessons and before you know it you're in business.

Reply
nathaniell Premium
You do not need to do boot camp if you are doing a niche related to clothing. That's a different course!

As for your niche, I left you a comment on your profile about becoming more narrow with your topic.

Keep in mind as you choose your niche, that you'll be writing articles about the topic, not just listing items in an online store. So if you pick something related to clothes or fashion, think about if you have a lot to say on the topic!
Reply
Barryw1 Premium
If you are working on a niche website stay with the Certification Course.

If you want to promote WA and make money online then do the Bootcamp. No need to do both.

Hello, when trying to add a new user with the administrator role, it says that the email address is already registered and I should use another one. I do not have another one, I had another email address on yahoo, but I haven't used for a long time, and I don't want to use it because I get lots of spam in there. Is there a way to use the same email address when creating a new user ? Thank you.

You can create a new gmail address and use it. Then have that mail forwarded to your original address if it's Siterubix. If you own the domain, go into siterubix, and at the top, click on Site Email and you can create an email address for yourself there. Then add yourself as Admin.

I have a website where I promote useful books, with links to Amazon. They sent me an email, saying that they closed my account because my website violated copyrights and/or trademarks. They told me I can re-apply when I am compliant. They didn't give me specifics on how I violated their rules and I don't know how to fix it. I am inclined to forget about the books for now, as I would have to sell hundreds of books to make decent commissions.

I feel it will be more worthwhile to concentrate on promoting WA, which pays great commissions and as they are a great company and have many thousands of members, there's a big market out there.

Would you guys agree? What are your thoughts?

I have the same problem with Amazon. They 'change the rules' when someone or some groups makes 'money'. Money as in $1000s a month. I'd give WA a try that's what I'm doing. Ok, so I am almost finished with Course 1. I have been following along step by step and not cutting any corners.

The good news: I am indexed by Google

The bad news: Not listed within the 1st 10 pages... :(

So my question is this: Thus far through the Bootcamp training, when we have setup our pages and posts, Kyle has yet to talk about SEO. He explained to install All In One SEO but as he walked us through the steps of setting up our pages/posts he didn't show us how to do the SEO for each which I think is highly important. Will there be a big SEO training where we go back and add the SEO to our pages/posts?

If not, I would think this is a big obvious deletion. Maybe Kyle is expecting us to automatically do the SEO for our content but I am a follow by step, color by numbers kind of guy and since he never taught it, I have not done it.

Anyone care to comment and point me in the direction I need to go or am I just being too impatient and this will all be discussed later in the course?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Steve

The SEO builds up over time. Google is not going to trust you enough to put you in the first 10 pages overnight. The more content you build and the more traffic you build, the more trust you will gain and the higher you will rank. Everything is put down in the order that you should be doing it so don't worry. This doesn't happen over a few weeks. Some people it takes over a year depending on how often you post, how much attention you give to social media and how well you follow all of the tasks. If you just finished course 1, you are on the right track. Just keep going and don't skip out on any steps. He explains later that he doesn't want you focusing too hard on SEO and/or keywords because that takes away from the content you publish and makes it difficult to read.

Consider this.. I googled the phrase "I love You' and received 118,000,000 results (anytime) Unfiltered

I changed the time filter to (last 24 hours) and got 69 hits.
I added "Hawaii" making the search term "I love you Hawaii" and got 67 hits.

I you search for the title of your page it will be close to the top of the results list, If you are further down on the list then its because of the other webpages having the same or similar titles.

So it is not an exact science and with no guarantees that you will be at the top of the list. I'm sure there are many factors of considerations taken by Google for ranking. Google will even put you at the top of the results for a little $$$.

The key is to have many pages related to your niche, each page being it's own effort for ranking. Then once the traffic gets to one of your pages, the visitor will have access to all of your pages. The key is keeping them interested enough to convert.

Thanks for the comment krayjag2.

I'm not so much worried about where I rank on google right now. What I AM concerned with is that in the Bootcamp training so far we haven't addressed the on page SEO. So it's no wonder to me that I am not on any search results because I haven't filled out any SEO on my pages. This is because Kyle hasn't told us to do so. With others getting results of being on the 1st page of google or something similar, to me they are adding info to their SEO in their All In One SEO sections. Maybe they aren't and they have REALLY low competition keywords in their titles...

If he touches on SEO in later courses within the Bootcamp I'll hang tight and keep doing what Kyle tells me to. :)
Reply
JohnG123 Premium
Actually, you ought to just ask Kyle outright. Hit up his profile, hit private message, select other inquiry, and ask about the SEO. He will give you an answer.

Thanks for the reply billghawaii,

I understand about being more specific in my google search. So for your example about being specific, I did the following serches:

mydomain - not within the top 10 pages
mydomain getting started - HEY! I'm page 1 8th position! :)
mydomain training - not in the top 10 pages
mydomain building websites - not in the top 10 pages
my domain revenue streams - not in the top 10 pages
my domain wealthy affiliate my opinion - HEY! I'm page 1 1st position!! :))

In my experience prior to WA, I have placed SEO on my page when I created the content and usually have 1st-page positions within a couple days. This is what I am used to and when we haven't touched on SEO yet the above results just had me a little worried. I will keep pressing on and see what the future lessons have on SEO. Just surprised me that we haven't filled out any and my page is basically built and all that's left is to continue to add content.

Thanks again for the reply.

Hello,
If I want to transfer the website, it says “Transfer domains from other registrars to SiteDomains here at WA”. This means that I can set up my website in order to have the name “[urlname]”.com? Why does it ask me for a transfer verification code? This transfer is free or it costs something? Thank you.
Reply
NeBro Premium
Cristian, a domain name is not the same thing as a website.

If you have a domain name at another registrar, you can transfer it into WA, for which you will need a verification code of some description.

Or you can point it to WA servers by modifying the NS (Name Servers) at the current registrar so that the DNS records and info are then handled by WA Site Hosting.

Or you can purchase a domain name here @WA from Site Domains.

Neil

Not sure what you mean exactly but know that a website can be hosted anywhere where you like.

If you are the present registra of the domain name you can have it land to a website in WA by simply changing the DNS information for that domain name from where it is now to WA. This is one of the articles I found on that issue. Use your search bar on the top middle of the WA site page and enter "DNS" then see all the knowledge available to you.

Hello, when trying to login to the admin section of my website, it says that the connection is not secure and that the content might be compromised. The same thing on Google Chrome and Mozilla. I did some digging and it says that the siterubix.com certificate expired in September 2016, I clicked on “Get certificate”, but the same. Then I got on some Mozilla support pages where it says I have to create a new Mozilla profile with a lot of steps to follow. Is there a simpler way to get my website connection secured, please? Thank you.

I would recommend logging in via WA... most secure and you won't and it makes sense as you will be going back and forth between your website and the WA

I would recommend that u ask site support. They respond usually in 10mins or so. I am not sure if u get SSL security with siterubix sites. U need to check with support on this. Send them a ticket.

Hello Billy, by "via WA" you mean to click on the admin login url in the site manager, I suppose. I did that and is the same. Thank you.

NeBro Premium
You either do not have SSL setup, for example, you cannot have SSL on a SiteRubix site, or you have not turned it on, or you have not updated your content to SSL only URLs, so you will get this padlock with a red line through it.

I get the same message on my WA test site because it is a SR site thus no SSL.

Or you have previously been logging in via SSL and/or your browser is expecting an SSL login, or you have mixed content due which can be for a number or reasons, or the cert is indeed either expired or incorrectly framed.

This is likely just a browser warning regarding a non-SSL connection or there is a cert issue,

Creating a new Mozilla account will not make any difference, the content or the site cert or both is the issue, neither will clicking on the link from within WA.

Check that your SSL is enabled if you are not running a SiteRubix subdomain.

Also, as Carl mentions, contact SiteSupport for more guidance, they will be able to shed some light on it for you.

@NeBro

http://thefrenchmarketer.siterubix.com

There's your problem right there.

You cannot have SSL on a Site Rubix. No point contacting support, they will tell the same, take a read of my post above.

The message is a generic browser message and is nothing to do with your site itself, well not directly, it's just a warning that information may be insecure as it can be seen in transit, which is true, but most of your traffic can be sniffed in the exact same way right now.

You can kill the warning of course by having a valid SSL cert, just not on your SR site which is why so many sites are now moving to SSL because they don't want users wondering if the connection is secure and questioning the padlock and red line.

Regards

Neil

Thanks a lot, Neil, for your help, I appreciate it, I saw where it says "SSL unavailable". It's good to know this.
Reply

Hi Cristian, it is a PITA you cannot get SSL on your SiteRubix but there are lots of other good reasons to move to your own domain name when you are able, SSL being just one.

I never set up a new site without SSL now it just seems silly not to as people are learning to expect it from the sites they visit.

Though to be fair, in terms of the info being passed, the only real issue is the fact you are putting login details into the back end/WordPress login, so as mentioned here in other comments, login from WA, this way you will never have to put your login details into a web page or the WP login page.

Best wishes

Neil
