Let's have a little conversation here about BRANDING.

Like the "Wealthy Affiliate" brand, your goal with your website is going to be to create and establish your own brand.

This is going to be done through your website and if you approach this as a "business" (which it is) from the very outset, then you are going to be setting yourself up for a long term, sustainable success online.

To discover your brand, you need to first decide on your "target audience" for your website.

Choosing Your "Target" Audience

There are actually many different directions you can head with your Bootcamp site. Wealthy Affiliate is a service that encompasses many different industries and verticals and you can quite easily promote it to many different types of people.

This is a GOOD thing. This means that the opportunity to promote WA and become wildly successful promoting Wealthy Affiliate is vast.

I want you to read the following tutorial, it is going to help you decide on the direction for your business and reveal just how many directions you can potentailly head.

READ TUTORIAL: Target Audiences for Wealthy Affiliate

There truly are many different facets to the platform here at Wealthy Affiliate and as you immerse yourself here, you will truly realize how BIG the opportunity is to benefit from WA.

Whether your target audience is "affiliate marketing" or "earning extra money while in college" or "stay at home moms", you can choose your own brand and niche to carve out and build a long term business within. EVERYONE can benefit from the platform here at WA, it is just a matter of finding these people and connecting with them.

The "Football" Stadium Analogy.

There you are, standing in a football stadium. 80,000+ wild fans, all of whom are passionate about something and have spent $100's on their ticket, not to mention transportation, food, and likely a beer or two at the game. The average sporting event costs a family $421 USD.

These people all have money and these people could ALL benefit from Wealthy Affiliate, if they knew about it and knew that they could take any passion or interest and build a business online.

Go into a big city, and look around. You will see the same thing. EVERYONE is a potential referral, everyone can benefit from WA, and all of these people would love nothing more than to have their own business online. In fact, I am sure you can quite easily put yourself in these people's shoes.

These are obviously just a few examples of how big the audience is. You can have a very SMALL fragment of attention on the Internet, and be very successful as an affiliate here. There are 4.75 BILLION people online, all of whom could benefit from the services here at Wealthy Affiliate to create, grow and expand a business online.

Now it is just a matter of narrowing down your audience and finding them. You have chosen your starting point niche and the "traffic" (audience) is something that I am going to be helping you out with as you move through the training.

You Are a BRAND, You Will Be An Expert.

One thing I want you to understand is that the minute you start building out your website, you are building a brand. You are working to become a SOURCE of information online and through time and effort (and helping others), you are going to become an industry expert.

But nobody starts off as an expert with anything they do in business. Regardless of the niche you choose online, you need a starting point and then through TIME and through helping people, you gain credibility and trust within that particular industry.

The same goes for this industry and being an affiliate of Wealthy Affiliate. You don't start off at the end point in business, you start off in the beginning and ALL top affiliates at one point started out as complete newbies. Many of these same folks are sitting with us in Vegas every year at our annual Super Affiliate Conference (all expenses paid).

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

Your task today is going to be choosing your target audience, or in other words, the "direction" of your brand/niche.

Again, you are in full control of this and there is no right or wrong, but the important thing is that you choose a direction that interests you.

The direction I am going to be choosing for my business is:

"Helping Affiliate Marketers"

I want to help aspiring and successful affiliate marketers, and as I build out my website and my brand, that is going to be the core theme of the topics I am discussing.

The name of my brand:

Real Deal Affiliate

I like it, it is cool, hip and I think something that I can work myself into as a brand.

So what you are going to need to do is choose your direction, because in the next lesson I am going to be walking you through the process of building a website geared towards your brand.

If you need help coming up with your "direction", simply leave a comment below. The comment area or Live Chat (chat bubble icon within the top menu) is where you can get HELP at any time, please take advantage of it.

You have an incredible amount of help here within the community and we can absolutely help you refine your ideas or give you a "yay" or "nay" if you want feedback or help you with any aspect of your campaigns.

Kyle, I am taking the Affiliate Bootcamp because I want to start marketing the Wealthy Affiliate along with a few other MMO products. Looking at the list of possible target audiences many people fit into more than one of those categories.

Are you saying to target one of those many targets listed? For example a middle class person might have a mortgage, want to quit his job and learn to make money online as well as be a baby boomer about to retire, have real estate investments as well as medical bills.

And you listed many other targetable categories within the MMO niche. At this point I am just seeking guidance, I am building a website I am calling Laptop Jobsite mainly because that is also the name of my domain.

hey Neil. I don't know if you'll get an answer from Kyle, but I would recommend that you try to be as specific to a niche as possible, but if it overlaps, then it's okay too! I guess it also depends on the products that you are reviewing, since mostly, the MMO niche would require you to do a lot of reviews.

This is my opinion and my thoughts, so I thought I would share.

Why wouldn't something that appeals to retired baby boomers with lots of medical bills also appeal to a 40 year old office worker with a mortgage who fears downsizing and wants to quit his job? All of those are sub niches to the MMO niche. By the same token why wouldn't a recent college graduate who can't get a job in his chosen field not be just as interested. My nephew graduated a year ago in horticulture and can't find a horticultural job.

It is unfair of you go offer students one course package, then when they believe their are making some kind of progress, you encourage them to upgrade, then they find themselves have to start from scratch once again. I have only been with you a few days, and already I am having regrets.

You shouldn't have to start all over again, Sarah. What makes you think that you do?

I think Sarah is half way right

Reach out to Kyle if you have any issues. I didn't have to start again when I upgraded and neither should you. Maybe there is a system glitch.

Hie SarahKerr1, yes everyone is right you need to work through the training step by step. Try not to jump from one thing to another as it may confuse and overwhelm you. WA offers every thing you need but have clear goals that you set re: what you want to achieve. You can send a private message to Kyle if you have an issue - don't give up and work at a steady pace but consistently. All the best.

Hi, I am wondering if really should post a Wealthy Affiliate review on my website because isnt it completely out of context to post that on a vegan protein powder themed one? And if yes, what can I write about to make my first review? A product ? The problem with that is that it seems very unaccurate because the only other post is my about me post.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me out here! :)

Hi - this Bootcamp training course is for those who want to build a website about making money online and promoting WA.

If you have chosen your own niche subject, then you need to switch to the Online Entrepreneur course.

On the other hand, I have seen websites promoting hiking trails, and then still have a page or post promoting WA without batting an eye. So it can be done if you don't feel it is crossing channels. Or you could actually start another site along side of your current one.

I hope that the Ambassadors agree with me on this
I have been looking at websites on Google possibly with Adsense
(I don't know for sure) but lots of them have ads on the sites that are nothing to do with the nature of the site.
Example if you are on a site for Supplements let's say some of the ads could be fo home and garden. Thats an example. I think if your ad is subtle you can get away with it.
Its an old sales thing you go shopping for 1 thing and come back with something you never intended to buy.
The other way that was suggested to me was to write a blog or Article on how WA trained me to create the website and slip it in somewhere.
Good luck

Hi - as regards Google AdSense, it selects which ads to display, depending on who is visiting the site, and what they have recently been searching for. Each visitor to your site will actually see something different.

So, if I have recently been searching for car insurance, then AdSense will display ads relating to that, regardless of what the website I am visiting is actually about.

I have deleted the Privacy Policy from the main menu and put it in the side bar but it is now appearing in both! I added and deleted it again to / from the top menu but it will not budge. Not desperate I suppose, but if anyone knows how to fix it that would be great.

Best,

Jean

Not a big issue here. You are in full control of these menus. You can add these custom menus to organize your top menu in any way in which you like, as well as create sub-menus (for themes that will support this). You can also use these custom menus to add within your side widgets on your website (within your sidebar).

Here is a tutorial on how to create custom menus: I use custom menus on all of my websites (over-ride that default menu). It allows much more control and organization....both good things!

Feedback please?

Trying to decide between two choices for my website home title:

Success With Des - Personal Affiliate Mentor

and

Success with Des - Affiliate Marketing Mentor

One of them sounds a bit more personal, and the other sounds a bit more concise. What do you all think?

My website is one promoting WA.

At the end of the day you have to be happy with your brand name. It was something I struggled with too. But if you like it that means other like minded individuals will like it too. Stay positive and keep moving forward.
