Wordpress is the most widely used platform for managing websites in the world. This is because it is "open source", meaning the general public can utilize the code.

This is very similar to how Google's "Android" is an open source operating system for mobile phones and devices, Wordpress is an open source platform for building and managing websites.

At Wealthy Affiliate we have developed the most sophisticated and secure website platform in the industry, leveraging the Wordpress framework.

One Important Aspect of Wordpress is Plugins.

Plugins are feature enhancements that you can install on your website. There are over 59,063 different plugins, everything from social plugins that allow your visitors to share your posts on Facebook/Twitter/etc, to e-commerce plugins that allow you to sell your own products directly from your website.

** As a Premium member you have full access to ALL 59,063+ of these plugins. **

Basically anything you want to do with your website, there is a plugin for it.

Task 1: Activate Your Plugins

You have two plugins that you have preinstalled with your website.

Plugin #1: Kraken Image Optimizer (Activated by Default). This plugin will crunch images that you upload to your website so they are smaller and they load quicker. This will make your website more efficient, run faster and ultimately rank better in search engines (search engines rank FAST websites better). This, combined with technology we have established with SiteRubix will give you the most optimized visual experience in the industry for your customers!

Plugin #2: The SEO Framework. This plugin is going to be very useful to your set up and structuring for search engines. This will be used to manage your "meta" tags, which are important in terms of how search engines display your content within the results. This plugin also includes lots of other awesome features that we will be utilizing as we move through the training.

Your first task is going to be "activating" The SEO Framework plugin, which will enable you to start utilizing that plugin on your website (and we are going to be covering this in the next lesson)

To do this, you first want to click the "Plugins" tab within your side menu in Wordpress.

This will open up the Plugins menu, showing you all of the plugins that you have installed on your website. Again, with every website you build here using the Website platform, you have two awesome plugins added.

You will want to click the"Activate" link.

Simple as that!

Now that your plugins are activated, we are going to be setting them up.

The Kraken.io Plugin (as mentioned) is automatically set up and ready to work upon activating it, but the The SEO Framework plugin takes a bit more work and we are going to be covering that in detail within the next lesson.

Your website is really coming along here, nice work! These are important steps that we get things set-up correctly before we get too far ahead of ourselves with content and of course, the "money" part of your business.

Tasks 0/2 completed
1. Activate the The SEO Framework Plugin
2. Update Any Plugin if it Has Available Update (optional)

I hope that the records are correct. I am repeatedly being asked to update to update to premium, I did that when I first became a member. Kyle along with many others sent me notes of congratulations for the upgrade, but I still get notices almost everyday to upgrade. Please check this out.
Warm regards,
Raymond

Hi - it looks as though you have 2 accounts. This is a free starter account. You have a premium account under the user name of RScholz1.

I presume you have used 2 different email addresses. You need to log out of this account and log in to the correct one.
Reply
I do not know how that happened. Do you cancel this account and I log back in on my RScholz1 premium account and and go from there? Thank you for your help.

I highly suggest you do what I am about to suggest.

In the magnifying glass above; click it; in the search bar; type in Kyle and leave a message about your problem on his page.

Then do the same for Carson.

I have been told they are busy; so it is best to ask both.

For sure they can solve this.

I'm understanding the process much clearer now I see it unfold. It is 'fun' as described and with regular use I guess the unkown 'technical' side will become less daunting. If I had some kind of IT training before, I guess my fingers would be moving at lightening speed! Lol :-)

Yes, the technical stuff will become straight forward and second nature as you continue to "immerse" yourself in the process of building a website.

Efficiency comes with practice!

I'm thinking along the lines of targeting for people that want to learn how to make money on the internet to get out of their current job situation. I have friends and family working their "hind ends off" for places like Walmart, and it's nearly killing them.

I worked for Walmart for just over a year and it sent me further into the disabled list. A friend of mine worked for Walmart for over ten years and she did many different jobs. I remember she was always running around the store like a chicken with its head cut off. It took a toll on her body as well. Now she has a sit down job at our local court house.

My son works in receiving and unloads the trucks. He's only 36 and with his bad back, he comes home in pain all the time. I also have a cousin that just retired early because of the pain caused by working at Walmart. She was an assistant manager.

So, my target audience is going to be for people working at jobs that's killing them. However, I need some ideas for the niche. Please, does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind Regards,

Thea

Absolutely, plenty of people in that situation that can leverage the Internet to build a business online...they could even promote Walmarts own affiliate program (and that could be an introduction to affiliate marketing that you could leverage to help them make sense of it).

So I definitely do like the direction you are heading here and this is a significant audience!

For me, I think I won't change a lot from the example given above...
The direction I am going to be choosing for my business is: "Helping people become Successful Affiliate Marketers". And the brand name to be: "Sure Deal Affiliate". What do you think guys? Please help me with this, because if I mess up at the beginning, then it won't work.

You know what; I would keep the business name and brand name the same; or very similar; because your audience may not know what you mean by "Sure Deal Affiliate". I am just saying; you audience may not understand what that means exactly.

So, I highly suggest to you; to keep the brand name and the business name the same; or very similar. Hope this helps?

It sounds nice but it's too long I think.
Try something shorter, like Successful affiliates or Affiliate program for beginners..
When is shorter it's easier to remember, therefore easier to be branded.
