Wordpress is the most widely used platform for managing websites in the world. This is because it is "open source", meaning the general public can utilize the code.

This is very similar to how Google's "Android" is an open source operating system for mobile phones and devices, Wordpress is an open source platform for building and managing websites.

At Wealthy Affiliate we have developed the most sophisticated and secure website platform in the industry, leveraging the Wordpress framework.

One Important Aspect of Wordpress is Plugins.

Plugins are feature enhancements that you can install on your website. There are over 54,840 different plugins, everything from social plugins that allow your visitors to share your posts on Facebook/Twitter/etc, to e-commerce plugins that allow you to sell your own products directly from your website.

** As a Premium member you have full access to ALL 54,840+ of these plugins. **

Basically anything you want to do with your website, there is a plugin for it.

Task 1: Activate Your Plugins

You have three plugins that you have preinstalled with your website.

Plugin #1: Kraken Image Optimizer (Activated by Default). This plugin will crunch images that you upload to your website so they are smaller and they load quicker. This will make your website more efficient, run faster and ultimately rank better in search engines (search engines rank FAST websites better). This, combined with technology we have established with SiteRubix will give you the most optimized visual experience in the industry for your customers!

Plugin #2: All in One SEO Pack (Need to Activate). This plugin is going to be very useful to your set up and structuring for search engines. This will be used to manage your "meta" tags, which are important in terms of how search engines display your content within the results. This plugin also includes lots of other awesome features that we will be utilizing as we move through the training.

Plugin #2: Classic Editor (Activated by Default). This plugin is by default going to be activated on your website. So there is nothing that have to do on your end to set this up. The Classic Editor pllugin enables the WordPress classic editor, which in essence is a much cleaner and easier "working" environment to manage and edit your website content within Wordpress.

Your first task is going to be ACTIVIATING these plugins that are not already activated, which enable them to start "working" on your website.

To do this, you first want to click the "Plugins" tab within your side menu in Wordpress.

This will open up the Plugins menu, showing you all of the plugins that you have installed on your website. Again, with every website you build here using the Siterubix SiteBuilder, you have THREE awesome plugins added.

You will want to "check" off the All in One SEO, and then within the drop down, select "Activate". After you have done this, click the Apply button and your plugins are activated (see below).

Simple as that!

Now that your Plugins are activated, we are going to be setting them up.

The Kraken and Classic Editor plugins (as mentioned) is automatically set up and ready to work upon activating it, but the All in One SEO plugin takes a bit more work and we are going to be covering that in detail within the next lesson.

Your website is really coming along here, nice work! These are important steps that we get things set-up correctly before we get too far ahead of ourselves with content and of course, the "money" part of your business.

Tasks 0/2 completed
1. Activate the All in One SEO Pack Plugin
2. Update Any Plugin if it Has Available Update (optional)

Kyle, I am taking the Affiliate Bootcamp because I want to start marketing the Wealthy Affiliate along with a few other MMO products. Looking at the list of possible target audiences many people fit into more than one of those categories.

Are you saying to target one of those many targets listed? For example a middle class person might have a mortgage, want to quit his job and learn to make money online as well as be a baby boomer about to retire, have real estate investments as well as medical bills.

And you listed many other targetable categories within the MMO niche. At this point I am just seeking guidance, I am building a website I am calling Laptop Jobsite mainly because that is also the name of my domain.

hey Neil. I don't know if you'll get an answer from Kyle, but I would recommend that you try to be as specific to a niche as possible, but if it overlaps, then it's okay too! I guess it also depends on the products that you are reviewing, since mostly, the MMO niche would require you to do a lot of reviews.

This is my opinion and my thoughts, so I thought I would share.

Why wouldn't something that appeals to retired baby boomers with lots of medical bills also appeal to a 40 year old office worker with a mortgage who fears downsizing and wants to quit his job? All of those are sub niches to the MMO niche. By the same token why wouldn't a recent college graduate who can't get a job in his chosen field not be just as interested. My nephew graduated a year ago in horticulture and can't find a horticultural job.

It is unfair of you go offer students one course package, then when they believe their are making some kind of progress, you encourage them to upgrade, then they find themselves have to start from scratch once again. I have only been with you a few days, and already I am having regrets.

You shouldn't have to start all over again, Sarah. What makes you think that you do?

I think Sarah is half way right

Reach out to Kyle if you have any issues. I didn't have to start again when I upgraded and neither should you. Maybe there is a system glitch.

Hie SarahKerr1, yes everyone is right you need to work through the training step by step. Try not to jump from one thing to another as it may confuse and overwhelm you. WA offers every thing you need but have clear goals that you set re: what you want to achieve. You can send a private message to Kyle if you have an issue - don't give up and work at a steady pace but consistently. All the best.

Hi, I am wondering if really should post a Wealthy Affiliate review on my website because isnt it completely out of context to post that on a vegan protein powder themed one? And if yes, what can I write about to make my first review? A product ? The problem with that is that it seems very unaccurate because the only other post is my about me post.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me out here! :)

Hi - this Bootcamp training course is for those who want to build a website about making money online and promoting WA.

If you have chosen your own niche subject, then you need to switch to the Online Entrepreneur course.

On the other hand, I have seen websites promoting hiking trails, and then still have a page or post promoting WA without batting an eye. So it can be done if you don't feel it is crossing channels. Or you could actually start another site along side of your current one.

I hope that the Ambassadors agree with me on this
I have been looking at websites on Google possibly with Adsense
(I don't know for sure) but lots of them have ads on the sites that are nothing to do with the nature of the site.
Example if you are on a site for Supplements let's say some of the ads could be fo home and garden. Thats an example. I think if your ad is subtle you can get away with it.
Its an old sales thing you go shopping for 1 thing and come back with something you never intended to buy.
The other way that was suggested to me was to write a blog or Article on how WA trained me to create the website and slip it in somewhere.
Good luck

Hi - as regards Google AdSense, it selects which ads to display, depending on who is visiting the site, and what they have recently been searching for. Each visitor to your site will actually see something different.

So, if I have recently been searching for car insurance, then AdSense will display ads relating to that, regardless of what the website I am visiting is actually about.

I have deleted the Privacy Policy from the main menu and put it in the side bar but it is now appearing in both! I added and deleted it again to / from the top menu but it will not budge. Not desperate I suppose, but if anyone knows how to fix it that would be great.

Best,

Jean

Not a big issue here. You are in full control of these menus. You can add these custom menus to organize your top menu in any way in which you like, as well as create sub-menus (for themes that will support this). You can also use these custom menus to add within your side widgets on your website (within your sidebar).

Here is a tutorial on how to create custom menus: I use custom menus on all of my websites (over-ride that default menu). It allows much more control and organization....both good things!

Feedback please?

Trying to decide between two choices for my website home title:

Success With Des - Personal Affiliate Mentor

and

Success with Des - Affiliate Marketing Mentor

One of them sounds a bit more personal, and the other sounds a bit more concise. What do you all think?

My website is one promoting WA.

At the end of the day you have to be happy with your brand name. It was something I struggled with too. But if you like it that means other like minded individuals will like it too. Stay positive and keep moving forward.
