This tutorial assumes you have a working version of wordpress either on your own domain or a subdomain of siterubix.

This step by step guide will take you through verifying your WordPress website (including siterubix subdomain sites) when you don't have ftp access.

This guide starts with setting up Google Analytics on your WordPress site without using plugins.

Some of the other tutorials here on WA may show how to do this with plugins.

My preference is to add the scripts and codes to the header file.
(Note - If you upgrade your theme files, you may have to add the code back to the header.php after upgrade )

I have a question. When I logged into Webmaster, my site was already listed. I didn't have to do anything. But, how do I know if my site is verified or not? When I click on the link that asks how I want my site listed (with www or without www), I click without and I go to save it, and it tells me that I have to verify my site. This is where I get lost. Another person on this site told me to enter my URL into my browser and once I do that I will receive a one line sentence saying that it is verified. This doesn't happen. How do I verify it?

This entire lesson apparently deals with the issue you're having questions about. From the Google Webmaster Tools dashboard there should be an option to Add New Property where you add the change to the URL you made. Step through and you'll find the Verification page. Use the Alternative Method tab and select HTML. You should then get the long hexadecimal verification code. Copy and paste that code into your website's SEO if it isn't there already. Be sure to Update the SEO. Then click on Verify.

I wrote a blog post on this topic. Feel free to read and use it!

I really appreciate the help, but for whatever reason, Google can't verify my site. I followed your instructions to the T, but still no verification. Not sure what I am supposed to do now. Also, when I put the meta tag in webmaster tools in SEO, after updating it, the tag is no longer there. Is this supposed to happen?

If Google won't verify then there is some kind of communication glitch between you and them. Be sure you are saving the SEO before attempting the verification.

If it still doesn't verify, you might want to get with SiteSupport and/or Google.

Good training, thank you much. However, what does Verifying SiteRubix Website with Google do to help your website out. And does site verification happen naturally with other sites outside of siterubix platform?

it works with any wordpress website, someone had asked about verifying their siterubix site here at WA, so I put this together. Verifying any website with google isa good thing especially if you are interested in how to improve the search engine positioning. webmaster tools are very helpful.

I will look into it. I worked on that one over 3 or 4 sessions of a few minutes at a time. I guess I could have recorded my screen while I was doing it. maybe next time. ;-)
