The Adsense lesson, found in Course 3 of the Get Started training, suggests we test our site to determine if Adsense ads or affiliate links are more effective. To do this, the lesson recommends that at least one post include only affiliate links, another have only Adsense ads, and that yet another utilize both.
Custom Fields can make this task relatively simple, as described in the following examples:
Example 1: Block Adsense ads from the bottom and the middle of a post or page.
Enter the "adsense-bottom" keyword with a value of "no". Also enter the "adsense-middle" keyword with a value of “no”.
This blocks the placement of Adsense ads from the middle of the post/page and at the end.
Example 2: Block ads in the sidebar.
Enter the “adsense-widget” keyword with value of "no".
No ads will be allowed in the sidebar when this page/post is being displayed.
Example 3: Block all Adsense ads for the post/page.
Enter the “adsense” keyword with value of "no".
Example 4: Allow Adsense ads at the top and bottom of a post/page.
Enter the "adsense-top" keyword with a value of "yes", then enter the "adsense-bottom" keyword with a value of "yes".
Summary
The Custom Fields feature provides a relatively simple way to control where Adsense ads will be allowed on a specific post or page through the use of Adsense keyword/value pairs.
Please ask any questions you might have or leave comments in the discussion area that follows. If there is an alternative method that can be used to control ad placement on individual posts or pages, please note the method in your comments.
Any help please.
