Thee has been a lot of questions lately as to how you can create a menu to point to a Blog Roll of a specific topic. Today I will be showing you how quick and simple this process can be.

The Secret Trick

While this may seem like something complicated to do, it is actually fairly easy and just uses your Categories and the Menu Feature. I will be using my Family Game Night Ideas site as an example here for you to follow along with. So let's see how I created a menu under my Game reviews to point to a Blog Roll.

As you can see here I added a menu on my drop down list to view the Game Reviews by post. When you click on that menu item it will take you to a Blog Roll list of all of my Game reviews that I have done on the site. You can visit my site here to see: Family Game Night Ideas

So How did I do this? Let us take a look...

Does anybody know how to move a category from a menu? I want to move my privacy policy on my page to the bottom so it looks cleaner.

Hi,

I moved mine to the footer as well. Go into Appearance -> Menus and click the dropdown on the privacy policy on the right side. You will see an option to remove it from the menu.

So should my categories be in the menu bar?

They can be or you can have them in a sidebar widget.

What would be better for the search engine and is it good for me to use keywords that are with low QSR? Thank you!

Categories are not for the search engines they are for your readers.

Hi James! Great help! Just one question - how can you make these sub titles open up in a new page?
Reply
Jaweda2k Premium
Harry, sorry I am a bit out of the loop on things at the moment. However this training is to open to a blog roll not just a new page.

The best training I know of on menus though is in the Bootcamp training: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-affiliate-bootcamp-content-keywords-and-conversions/enhancing-your-website-experience

I've been thinking about Categories a lot recently, but have been struggling to figure out a way to make it work aesthetically. I noticed that on your site you simply have links to the actual post, but I was looking for something more than that.

But, while reading this training, it just hit me that all I need to do is link an image of the post to the post. That way, on the category page, it'll look like another blog roll page (for that specific category) but it's really not.

Wahoo! I feel like I'm cheating the system here :) Can't believe it took me so long to figure that out. But I'm happy I did!

In today's world we often have a tendency to make things seem harder then they are. All to often though the answer is fairly simple and once we see and understand it we will know it going forward.

I really like using my categories as the main part of my menu. I usually only do one category per post though. And I remove "category" from the URL. That allows me to move the post in and out of categories (if I change my mind) without causing 404 errors.

I use the categories part of the menu to do this. But I like the way you did it - by just creating it as a link. I will probably start using that. Thanks!
Reply
Jaweda2k Premium
Yeah I thought it was a really simple way of doing it and also makes it easy to change where things show up as well.
