How do you mean to 'Verify' a site? Verify for what, please, Marion?

Some programs like Alexa and Google have an alternate verification method where they give you a file with a code to add to your server. You tell them where you have it located and they fetch the file to verify domain ownership.

Lots of companies require you to verify ownership of your website including Google, Yahoo, Bing, Pinterest and some affiliate companies.

Hi James,
To Verify your site means to prove to Google that you own or have the right to make changes to your website. It prevents other people from claiming your website as their own.

Extremely handy, Marion. Didn't know could be done with Pinterest as well. Thanks.

What I like about this method is that it's permanent and doesn't rely on an SEO plugin staying active.
