For a little while longer Windows 10 is a free upgrade. Microsoft gave you a year to upgrade for free. Those who don't will have to pay the price. I think it's free until July 29th 2016 and I have never seen a legitimate failure n upgrading. the only people who have had problems are people who think they know how to upgrade but went back and started using some Windows 7 tools and corrupted their installation. also some people who had some adaptive software for hearing and Visually Impaired had small issues.

I deliberately turned off the computer in the middle of a Windows 10 install just to see if it would fail , it did not.

we have done over 1,000 installs as a company. as a professionally certified person I can say this is this simplest upgrade I have ever seen and it's still free.

I am not in the position to purchase anything at this time. Can all this be done for free?

No, only the current version can be installed. the reason I said old version is that this is the original setup. It is much simpler now.

Yes. Windows 10 upgrades are free for Windows 7 and 8 users. Windows XP is very different internally and I would suggest upgrading to Windows 7 first , that being said I actually have done it. It was painful but I did do it. Upgrade to Windows 10 from XP I mean.
