Let us start by borrowing a definition from Wikipedia; they explained affiliate networks simply as an intermediary platform between publishers (affiliate marketers) and merchant affiliate programs (advertisers). Advertisers use affiliate network as a means to advertise their product package so that publishers can easily access it, as they search for programs to promote

For both advertisers and publishers, both parties have to independently sign-up to the platform of the affiliate network. While publishers join most affiliate networks for free and pay a percentage of commission earned, merchants pay a premium to get their market on these networks.

Both Merchants and Publishers can enjoy a mutual relationship without fear of cyber fraud. This is made happen by the robust technology put in place by the affiliate marketing network.

Thanks for putting this together. As the ShareASale representative here on Wealthy Affiliate, I'd just like to add a few more details.

ShareASale.com was acquired by Awin about 4 years ago, making them part of the largest affiliate network in the world. We have over 1600 employees in 15 countries. We were honored that out of all the affiliate networks in the world, founder Brian Littleton entrusted ShareASale to us.

There are actually closer to 6,000 programs on ShareASale, but with new ones being added daily, it's almost impossible to keep up. Luckily there's a great search functionality to help publishers find all the programs by keyword, niche or category, it's easy to find a program which fits your needs.

If I can assist anyone with ShareASale, please feel free to contact me. Thanks so much!

I don't like the idea of waiting 60 days to get paid

At first 60 days seems a long time, but if you are with a reliable advertiser, after those first 60 days you will have a monthly income stream if you stay active.

Commission generation constantly.

Probably, the 60 days is due to wait for the money back guarantees that some merchants have. Usually a 30 day money back guarantee.

Although some merchants pay you, and if there is a return, they will take it off on your next commissions.

Usually this could be if you are paid on sales commissions and not on pay per lead. Unless the merchant whats sometime to verify that your leads are legitimate and not fake.

If you are expecting to be doing affiliate marketing, wait time shouldn't be an issue.
