I created this tutorial to help you understand how much Yoast can help your SEO. It's just like having a SEO professional standing behind you while you write. My personal experience with Yoast has been so good that it made me want to help others realize the power behind this plugin.

If you have not installed Yoast go do it now! Click on Plugin then click Add New. Type Yoast SEO into the search box. Install and Activate, now you're ready to roll!

After you have installed and activated Yoast you will need to set up your Titles and Metas before you being to create or update posts and pages.

Go into your WordPress dashboard. Click on the SEO to open the drop down menu. Then click on Titles and Metas.

It will open a page with these options at the top. Click on Post Types.

Now you will see the options below. Set it to Index Meta Robots, Hide Date in Snippet Preview and Show Yoast SEO Meta Box. Then scroll to the bottom and Save Changes.

You will also see a Help Center on every section of your Yoast Plugin. If you are ever unsure what to do click on it for further instructions.

Now it's time to start writing!

Hi Cathy
I love Yoast! I recently discovered it on my business website which had already been installed by my website guys, and wanted to install it here. I think I have successfully installed, however I have got myself in a muddle ( the readings in your training were not showing up so I have been counterintuitively clicking and installing) Is there any other training you can point me too please? Many thanks!

Hi Cathy, no worries, as it happens I have been concentrating all my website efforts on my business website lately so not much here, so I am not sure if it is working yet. I will get back to you (if that is ok) if I cannot fathom the installing process! Have a great day

Does it (Yoast SEO) conflicts with All in one SEO pack?

Yes. U must use one or the other. It is a matter of preference but some say that All-In-One SEO ranks faster than Yoast SEO.

I changed back from Yoast (premium) to All-in-One SEO (free) as have some other members and we are now seeing much better ranking results, lots of page 2-3 listings going to page 1.

I've also found SEO Framework https://wordpress.org/plugins/autodescription/ gets better ranking results than even AIOSEO but it's less user-friendly at the moment.

As Joost the owner of Yoast has stated, "no SEO plugin makes more than 10% difference to your results", as Wordpress in itself is now very SEO friendly. Yoast however is actually one of the worst performers in regard to getting you a higher ranking in search engine results.

Yoast is incredibly popular because of the interactive feedback, but this is really nothing more than ticking an automated checklist that you could easily do yourself from a sheet of paper, it has no effect in itself on ranking. In fact, there are far better tools than Yoast for ensuring that your text is formatted and optimised to get the very best search engine results (especially as Yoast have moved many features from the free to the paid version). For example, take a look at a specialist on-page seo tool, Web Text Tool https://app.webtexttool.com/#/register-free

I'd recommend members looking to achieve the highest possible rankings stick with AIOSEO!

I have just register for the webtexttool. I think it is just as good as Yoast. Thanks for providing the link. [Kelsey]

I am glad you are getting good results with AIO but I created this tutorial to help other who are using Yoast or would like to try it. I put a lot of work into this tutorial and do not appreciate your Yoast bashing. It is all a matter of preference and your reply was not done in a professional way. Maybe you should create your own tutorials.

As Gunnertwist said you do need to choose one as they will conflict with each other.

When you write anything at WA, you're likely to get both positive and negative responses, that's part of deal when you contribute here. You'l find that no-one, not even Kyle, Carson nor Jay, gets a free "pass"!

I've had many years experience of AIOSEO, Yoast and now SEO Framework, including hands-on helping restore members sites after Yoast's catastrophic 3.0 update wrecked them.

You might not think it important, but before members are encouraged to deviate from core training and ditch AIOSEO in favour of Yoast, they might like to be aware that they are risking getting the highest possible ranking for their content.

I think you might find that for many, the latter is far more important than ease-of-use, especially when there are far better tools than Yoast for on-page SEO, such as Web Text Tool.

I'd also respectfully suggest that you make it clear in your training, that members should use the migration tool if switching from AlOSEO and that they must deactivate it after activating Yoast, as only one SEO plugin should be active at any one time.
