Step 1

Get an approval code: Check with your new registrar to check whether you require an approval code (EPP code). In the event that you require one, see Get an approval code to exchange my space to another registrar .

Many country-code top-level domain names (ccTLDs) don't require an authorization code. However, there are a few exceptions where you'll need to contact customer support to get an authorization code. For more information, see Authorization codes to transfer ccTLDs

For .uk domain transfers, please contact customer support and have the IPS tag of the new registrar (get this from your new registrar) ready when you call them
.

Step 2

Start the exchange: At the new registrar, start the exchange and give the approval code, if necessary. This is distinctive for every registrar, so you may need to counsel the other registrar's assistance or support for particular guidelines.

I guess so, unless you already are Premium, in which case you just transfer.

If you have content you will want to migrate your site. It will not be down for longer than perhaps 2 hours.

First, you will backup your site to a file (I use All in One WP migration plugin for this) Then you will change the nameservers on your hosting to point to WA servers.

They will propagate in under 2 hours. ( It tells you 48 hours but will happen much faster) Once the nameservers have propagated to WA, you will install the site and add the migration plugin. Then you restore your backup to the site.

Thanks for answering. I'm still too afraid to do it. Every time I mess with something, I break something.
