Confirm contact data: Verify that the manager's contact data for the area is right (or registrant's email for .au spaces). All messages with respect to the exchange will go to the director's email (or registrant's email for .au spaces). To survey and alter your contact data.

Drop Protected or Private enrollment: If the area has Protected Registration or Private Registration, you'll have to wipe out it. For more data, see GoDaddy Cancel Protected Registration or Cancel Private Registration.

If you have content you will want to migrate your site. It will not be down for longer than perhaps 2 hours.
First, you will backup your site to a file (I use All in One WP migration plugin for this) Then you will change the nameservers on your hosting to point to WA servers.
They will propagate in under 2 hours. ( It tells you 48 hours but will happen much faster) Once the nameservers have propagated to WA, you will install the site and add the migration plugin. Then you restore your backup to the site.
