Evernote
is a free note and file archiving program that has versions to run on almost any computing device. There are versions for Windows, Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Android devices. It organizes into Notebooks which can store text and html notes as well as images, sounds and in the paid for version most any file type including program executables. I use it for tracking articles, snippets of PHP code that I use frequently, track login passwords, frequently used images, etc. etc.
Once entered in Evernote everything that was entered is sychronized to the central Evernote servers. This means that everything is now available to every other computer where you have logged into Evernote with your account!
So anything I enter on my iPad automatically shows up on my work computer AND on my iPhone. What i enter on my work computer shows up on my iPad an iPhone. If I am at friends house and need something I can install Evernote on his computer and login and put it on his computer. I can add things to Evernote from his computer and it will automatically be synced to all my other devices.
Basic Evernote is free but has limitations on certain file types and on the maximum size. For most the free version should be sufficient.
