Below are productive tips that will help maximize your day and produce better content.
1) Reduce Distraction
Daily distractions are the main reasons why we produce far less than our projections. A good writing session would take at least one and a half hours (1.5 hrs), and if you decide to put in more effort, it could go as far as three to four hours. Avoid distractions during this period. It is the best period to put off your emails and social media notifications. Although there could be some that require immediate response, it is up to you to prioritize.
Another source of distraction could be your phone calls. In practice, I keep my phone at a distance from me. But when I have a deadline or writing on a topic where I need excellent concentration, I switch it off for the three hours.
Most worrisome source of distraction could be family members or co-workers. If you work in an office environment, a don’t disturb signage could do the magic. But if you work from home like me, its better you set working space like a room or a dedicated corner in your house. Also, you must set working time and help your family members know it.
2) Time Management
Time Management is another essential ingredient. Your productivity is outstanding when your time is properly managed. Proper planning, they say prevents poor performance. You can divide the day into different blocks for a different task. This blocks can now be divided into hours. It all depends on you, but most important is sticking to this schedule.
It does not mean emergencies will not occur. A lot of issues from family and co-workers can come in within your set time. But setting your priorities right will help you attend to the most important, while others can wait.
Another perspective of managing time is using a to-do list. You can keep this on a planner. It will help you organized and prevent you from forgetting your task, while you can now hold your self accountable. The good thing about this is you can use it to achieve both long time goals like a yearly plan and short time goals like a daily plan
Best wishes,
