Managing your Twitter account

If you have a Twitter account it's very important that you're able to manage it effectively so that your Twitter activities are worthwhile and are part of your successful marketing strategy.

Although Twitter.com is where your Twitter account is held, it's not the easiest programme for tidying up your Twitter account.

A much easier option is to use Tweepi - an app that links to your Twitter account and allows you to unfollow people who are not following you, follow those who have started to follow you and more importantly find new twitter followers.

Yeah, there are some really horrible things that go on within social networks, in particular when there is the added anonymity.

Yeah, this is pretty commonplace as many people just mass follow hoping to get follow backs...the best way to build a quality social profile is to build real relationships.

Thanks for sharing! Never knew this feature existed and it has helped greatly in pruning those who don't follow back :-)

How would you say Tweepi differs from Hootsuite?

Hi - Tweepi and Hootsuite - cover different functions. I use both. Hootsuite is great for writing tweets, scheduling, retweeting. Tweepi is a useful tool for tidying up your Twitter account.. You can tidy up your account through Hootsuite but it's a more long drawn out process.

Excellent training. I have not heard of Tweepi before reading this tutorial, but it is a good idea to have a grasp of who is following you back, in particular if you are getting lots of requests and finding that people are unfollowing you right after you reciprocate their initial follow them (fake friends).

One service I have used and is quite good as well is who.unfollowed.me. It is essentially a very similar service that allows you to keep track of who has unfollowed you.

Thanks Kyle. I think services like Tweepi are important for people to get into the habit of managing their Twitter account from early on. It's very easy to let a Twitter account get out of hand.

Yes, and it is very easy to go without social engagement which happens when Twitter accounts are pure "you follow me I follow you exchanges". There are a lot of accounts out there with 10,000's of followers that have a reach of about 10 people when they have something important to say...all that work for nothing!
