How to Set up Affiliate-ID Links to a Custom URL

Custom URLs are helpful in the area of creating an affiliate link to a blog video or post. With it, you don't need to follow the custom of linking to a product page.

  • Go to your affiliate dashboard
  • Hit the "Custom Tracking Links" tab
  • Click on the "Alternate Incoming Links"
  • Choose "Option 1: Automated Link Creation"
  • Insert the page to be linked into the space shown and press ''Create My Link''
  • By now, your affiliate-ID link to a custom URL is ready
  • You can test your affiliate-ID link in an incognito window

Always test run your affiliate-ID link in an incognito window. With this, you won't be self-cookie by your own affiliate link, which ends you up getting a commission from your own purchases. Getting a commission from your own affiliate is against the Affiliate terms and conditions.

How to open an incognito window in Chrome:

Press CTRL + Shift + N! Another way to it is to start from the menu.

How to open an incognito window in Firefox:

Press CTRL + Shift + P! You can also start from the menu.

So, install either/both Chrome and Firefox and refer to the instructions above. Hence, do not use Internet Explorer again.

This is good training Israel. My own blog is built using Thrive Suite and the affiliate programme is really good, pays out no messing about, direct to paypal. I had a payment to it recently.

What I have found helps because I am also promoting WA, is using their banners and CTAs on alternate pages, but in an in offensive way, so that readers are encouraged to sign up, ideally to both WA and Thrive, but if not, at least one or the other.

In my eyes, and through experience, I can't think of one reason, why Bloggers, would not want both platforms, especially as their work is made far easier than just using a normal blog.

Hi Isreal,

Thank you. This is helpful information. I have this bookmarked.

I was using Thrive Themes but I found it complicated. How long did it take you to learn a Thrive theme?

I would love to go back and give it another go but I was also concerned about the number of plugins it installs. It doesn't show down your site?

Like always, great info, Israel! :) I LOL at your line "Hence, do not use Internet Explorer again". I don't know why I still have that browser on my computer... :)

Hey Paula, yes it's either you stay or Chrome or Firefox. These are the two most working and popular browsers. Glad you read this post, my friend! Thanks!
