Banner ads are so common that the majority of people online have "conditioned" themselves to ignore basic banners.
One must get extremely creative if they wish to generate enough interest that will entice a visitor to click on the banner ad.
This tutorial covers 3 basic yet very powerful plugins, that you can utilize to place your affiliate banners in random locations throughout your website.
I will be using wealthy affiliate banners to demonstrate how to use each plugin, you can of course use any banner for any affiliate program that you choose.
Advanced Floating Content
The "Advanced Floating Content" plugin, allows you to place a banner in any of the four corners of your website. Top Left or Right, and Bottom Left or Right.
This is the banner I will be using to demonstrate this particular plugin. I recommend you use square banners because I feel that they are more attractive, blends in better than rectangle banners, and are less obtrusive.
Corner Ad
The "Corner Ad" plugin, allows you to place a nifty "Page Curl" ad in the top left corner of your website.
I particularly like this plugin because it allows you to set the curl to open after so many seconds (I choose 1) and to also automatically close after as set number of seconds (I choose 5 to 10).
I love using, what I call, the "Mr-Clean Wanna Be" banner that is provided here at Wealthy Affiliate, because the man just looks so darn cool peeking out from under the page curl!
CM Pop-Up Banners
The "CM Pop-Up Banners" plugin allows you to place a pop-up banner directly in the middle of pages on your website.
The banners can be configured to display on every page, or you can select them to show only on certain pages.
This is a great plug-in you can use to place different pop up ads on select posts, based on which topic the particular post is covering.
For instance, one of my most profitable niches is diet and weight loss.
If I write an article about the benefits that Green Tea provides to aid in improving weight loss; I could then place a pop-up banner on this page that advertises green tea from one of the merchants I am an affiliate with. I could also place a specialized "Subscribe Now for more great Green Tea information" banner to promote my mailing list.
If I write an article about increasing energy by increasing ones intake of Vitamin B12, then I could place a banner on that page that promotes a B12 vitamin or other product like a blender that can be used to make smoothies that have ingredients that are high in B12. Or I could also design yet another banner that states something like "Subscribe today for more great B12 information", again to entice site visitors to sign-up for my mailing list.
But for the purposes of this tutorial, I will instead be using the banner below as my pop-up banner.
