Defining Your Life Purpose

Once you have clearly determined what is your reason for living, then you will be more motivated to fulfill your dreams and desires.

Your desires already exist as long as you believe in your mind, and believe with all of your heart that they do, at that point they need just be manifested into reality.

Of course we all live a hectic life with pressures coming at us from all sides be they in our personal lives, or profession or career and we can very easily be distracted and when that happens we veer off course and fall out of alignment with our purpose in life.

So let me ask you a question before we move on. Have you ever felt unhappy or depressed and feeling that your life was going nowhere, or at least that it was going in a direction opposite of where you thought it would?

What really determines who and what you are? Well two key elements in that composition are your Life Purpose and your values. When both are clearly defined you become aware of exactly what it is that you stand for, and that you can live your life by design, and at that point you are happier, more fulfilled and doing what is important to you.

The best way to determine what your life purpose is would be to ask yourself a series of self- examination questions, probing questions that will help you to figure out what in life would really make you happy. This exercise is designed to give you an idea of the type of questions you need to ask yourself to find true happiness in life. Of course this is just a sample so feel free to let your mind run wild and ask and answer of yourself any questions that you feel appropriate.

So first write your question followed by your answer in your journal. But the most important part of this exercise is to enjoy the experience.

In order to properly assess your true life purpose you need to understand exactly what it is in life that you love doing, what you are currently doing in your life, and in order for you to become happier in your life what exactly needs to change.

So here are the sample questions:

  • At what times and in what circumstances did you experience true happiness in your life?
  • What do you love to do in your free time or while at work?
  • Have you accomplished anything in your life that made you feel especially proud of yourself?
  • What are the qualities that you most admire in other people and why?
  • Is there anything in your life that invigorates you and makes you feel more alive? Something that you are truly passionate about.
  • Rate your level of happiness overall.
    • Overjoyed to be alive.
    • Looking forward to facing your day.
    • Neither happy or sad.
    • Can’t wait till quitting time.
  • If you could change one thing in your life that you believe would make you happy what would it be?
  • If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?
  • Is there anything that you do naturally well? Are you an artist, a good listener, a designer? Anything that you do effortlessly.
  • Can you list 10 of your greatest successes so far in your life? (not what other people think but what you think personally)
  • Can you list 10 life lessons that you have learned that impacted your life?
  • Are there certain things that other people often seek your help with, if so what are they?
  • If you could do anything knowing that you could not possibly fail what would it be?
  • If money was not an object what dream would you pursue first?
  • If you knew you only had one month to live, what would you do first?
  • If you were charged with writing your own eulogy what would you say about you? What would you want others to remember you for?
  • As you picture yourself 20-30 years or more into the future are you happy, and living a fulfilled life knowing that you lived a good productive life, or you wallowing in self-pity?

These questions of course have now given you a base point from which to build, to define and write your life’s purpose.

That is actually one of my favorites too and after going through the Rubber band Exercise myself and a big old welt on my left arm just above my watch band, I surely did learn (although not so quickly) to change my negative thinking into positive thinking. I went through 3 rubber bands. LOL

Yes, that's beautiful, but with me now it usually takes one quick switch of the mind to go from negative to positive. It might take longer sometimes, but I usually don't allow myself to dwell in negativity.:)

Oh I don't either any longer but when I was first starting out in all this years ago I was a stubborn old cuss.

Sure we all had (and still have) sharp edges, but God working on us is much greater than our imperfections.

Rich is the one "beating to the punch" here Even as I answered technically oriented questions this morning I could feel him along side or ahead in the "game". I would close and save the response, go back in and sure enough a post!!

I think he is a machine. But honestly you have to give the guy credit, although him and I may not agree on some points he does put a lot of effort into this.

I definitely agree. Appears to be Kyle's super weapon held in reserve for these times!

could even be Kyle in disguise. But no matter who it is he is always in the chat and giving out information and there are people in there that really need the help, so no matter where they get it all that matters is that they get it

I don't quite believe he's Kyle. Myself and another member speculated on that point. but he's definitely positioned for instant access on the threads knows everything that Kyle does and clearly is Kyles main man after Jay!
