You can learn a lot from other people's websites.

What do you like and what turns you off? How are they using meta data? What key words are your competitors using?

Did you know you can view the source code in any website by going to View>Developer>View Source? It may be a little different on a PC. Even if you don't know html code, you will start to learn by looking at sections of code and seeing what it does. Look at the Title, the Description and what key words are used in the meta data.

The Title and Description are what the search engines display. They are the invitation to your website.

1. Make sure your title is a headline that grabs attention

2. Make sure the Description is accurate and inviting.

3. While metadata key words are not as important as previously, don't ignore them.

By default search engines use the first 160 words as the description they display. If your first paragraph describes your post you do not need to make any modifications.

Hi Bill,

Relaxing today. Visited your website. Seen you even offered your number as well, I see what your entire "mission" or "niche" is as well (well sort of).

Many "affiliates" that do "resell" forget and never contact or create what I feel what you are doing. "Getting Personalized" or earning the trust of those that had been generated by your efforts. That....is....very cool.

Tomorrow is work day for me....I'm enjoying "me and my dog day". And again...thank so much for making the difference in people lives. It does bring that trust...I truly needed, and be motivated to do what it takes to also...earn your respect.

Just me....

Walter

Bill, I've always been thankful for being able to view source. It helps to find out what versions of apps and platforms are used when troubleshooting issues.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks there for this presentstion.
I found it very useful.
The use of keywords on the heading and on the first paragraph has always had varying opinions with some recommending only on the heading and towards the end. What is your take there?

I have been given varying information too. A keyword in the first 2 paragraphs, maybe another in the middle and at the end etc.

Since joining i have taken the advice here and not overloaded the keywords, one in the title and one in the first 2 paragraphs i think are enough.

If you start over using keywords, of course it can have adverse effects, and to me, it also looks like it is more of a sales pitch than a piece of quality material when keywords are over used.

Iʻve read the spiders check the first 160 words of a page or post and the last paragraph of the post. I think the last paragraph is less important, but I have no stats to confirm that. You MUST work key words smoothly into the text.

I’m just following Jays recommendations. Don’t have enough experience to have my own opinion.

I need to title first paragraph and then just right. As Google analytics shows your search engine‘s will find lots of secondary keywords within an article. I just use do the two.

You do know you can edit these, Right?
Spelling and grammar. Just an observation.

Yes! Ken - I love that feature of editing posts, especially when one types fast on an Android device and you miss the correct button... :-)

I look at this and I see I have a long way to go, I wish I were 25 years younger. For the real newbies there are terms I need to know, especially the abbreviations. I'm in for the long hall however long it will be. In a few months I'll understand more. I'm glad you're on my side :)

I'm 84 and I've been working at internet marketing for the better part of 5 years. Modest success, but I feel with WA I'm making gains faster than I ever could have expected. Have questions, just ask. The world has such opportunities and challenges. We live in exciting times.

You can even say THAT backwards, too.
Bill, I am MEGA inspired. I have a long way to go, but you have just demonstrated that age is no barrier, and now I just need to get into it and stop sitting on the fence.
