I was just thinking it would be good to write some new content for my website, but I wanted to do something different to what I have been doing lately and try a different approach. So I was thinking of what good ways of finding inspiration for new blog posts, and so I thought about YouTube.

Why not use a YouTube video as a jumping-off point for some written content? You can watch a video and then paraphrase what was said in the video, and even add your own take on it too. You can put the video in your own post too. Everybody wins. You get inspiration for some new content, and the creator of the video gets exposure and the potential for new subscribers. Also, Google seems to love videos, so having a video in your post seems to help it rank, even if you didn't record that video yourself.

Another solid idea.

Of course ensure any credit is given to the video creator.

Cheers Marcus.

That's an interesting point, actually. I would say it's not essential as the video itself acts as the credit. As long as you are embedding their original video rather than downloading it and uploading it to your own YouTube channel, I think it should be fine. If people are interested in the person who created the video they can click through.

But if you want to give an additional link that's up to you.

As for distinguishing it as not being my own video, I would probably make that clear as part of my text anyway.
