PAGE 1 = Why sharing WA affiliate links on social media can be a problem

PAGE 2 = Which social media networks accept and do not accept WA affiliate links

PAGE 3 = How every member can get around this problem – Do what I do

PAGE 4 = Why this approach is solely for social media sharing, not rankings

Back in the early days of both Wealthy Affiliate, WA, and the sharing of links on social media, affiliate marketing was more widely accepted. However for various reasons, that has now changed in this current day and age.

SOCIAL MEDIA & GOOGLE FEEL THE SAME WAY

Because of the explosive growth in affiliate marketing both from legitimate and not so favorable affiliate programs, people are sharing affiliate links with increasing frequency. If you do not know by now, Google does not like affiliate marketing websites with many affiliate links.

With so many people into affiliate marketing, too many people are over using their affiliate links and both Google and social media are starting to crackdown. But there is a way around the blocking of affiliate links that I have been successfully doing for the past year and I will share how in this tutorial.

NEXT UP = Which social media networks will block or accept WA affiliate links

HI Robert
Thanks for this very helpful lesson.

If you share a WA blog/training will non-members still be able to get access to the blog?
How do it exactly? Click on the blue affiliate button and copy that link to your content or to your photo whichever you want?
I assume I will get the affiliate commission even if it is not my blog?

Peace and all the best
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Yes. Non-members have access to all blogs/trainings because all of these get indexed into Google.

And when you place the links in your website content people will have access to WA through those links.

If these non-members choose to join WA from reading the blogs/trainings, you will get the referral credit.

The below link shows you what non-members see when viewing your WA blogs/trainings. If the WA links you share are not from content you created, you need to use the affiliate link of that blog/training.

If the WA links you share are of content you did create, you can share the regular link without your affiliate ID number.

Robert,

I was referred to this training site from Triblu asking a question about how to post on social media.
Intelligent was of getting around problems. Thank you for thinking through and bringing up this solution.
I have one question.
Because we are allowed to promote other's posts through our link,
may I use this post you created with my niche related blog post of through my general link along with few others!
I am looking for a shortcut to fill my purpose.
Reply

Yes, you can use the link to this post or any others I have done, as long as it is relevant to what you are attaching the link to.

Hi Robert,

I went through this training quite a while ago, perhaps when you first posted it, it did make sense to me and bookmarked it as I knew that one day it would come handy.

At the time, I wanted to remain focused on the Bootcamp training before exploring new techniques.

Since a couple of months, the number of new referrals that I am getting has seriously dropped. Appart from a couple of websites that I have created, I have been promoting affiliate products extensively on social platforms, that includes WA affiliate links.

Till now it worked very well (till about 2 months ago). Then I came across this training of yours, which answered my question: Why has it stopped working?.. I found the answer in your training: the social platforms I am posting on are blocking my posts!

So, I decided to give your idea a try. I am now working on two new small sites. It is indeed very easy to do.

I have a question though:

Following what you are saying that we don't need to worry about SEO, ranking, producing lots of content, etc., I am assuming that we also don't need to worry about duplicate content, right? Not that I intend to copy from other sites anyway, but it is just to know what your think.

I wish you the very best and thanks for producing this useful training which I am sure is very useful for many members at Wealthy Affiliate.

You are welcome John.

In answering your question I would say that regardless of whether you set up the SEO plugin or not, you should never use duplicate content.

Eventually Google will index this new content anyways and you don't want them to see duplicate content. Once you start sharing the link to this site, Google will begin to compare it.

Though it wouldn't matter what happens to the SEO of this mini website, the website where the original content resides could get hurt.

Hi,
This is brilliant and has come right at a time when all of a sudden. Facebook are taking down some of my links. Something that has never happened to me before now.

I have had my page up for more than a year. I dont post links too often in my page but recently they have taken three down. Which is so annoying. I am not spamming with them neither.

I can't believe I haven't even seen this post before now.

You are an absolute star Robert thank you so much for this post. I came across this link via Trish @Triblu also another great person too. :)

Thats why I love W.A. there is always something to help us out of a situation. Thank you again. You are a diamond.

Hi Rob,
thanks a lot for this tutorial. It is very helpful and practical. I would like to implement this approach of building a mini website for this purpose!

The reason for it is the same: I have been blocked several times already from Google+ when posting WA affiliate links! Now I know the reason.

Wealthy affiliate offers so many great tutorials and posts that I want to share on Google+.

I would like to ask you, that when I am ready to start building this small website, and if I would need, can I contact you for possible advice?

That would be great!

Thanks,

I think I am going to get my son to do the principles taught in this training. Can you give me an example of two of ads that you would post in the Facebook groups please?
Reply

It is nothing more than me telling the reader, what it is I am sharing and what benefits the reader will gain if they click on the link.
Reply

Do use an image?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Yes. I always use a relevant image. People are visual by nature and using an image increases the likelihood of a response.
Reply
ramr50 Premium
Can you show me a sample image you use
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
It can be any image or photo. If my post was about hiking I would post a picture of people hiking. If my post was about baseball, I would post a baseball related photo.

There is no right or wrong selection. Just use an image or photo that is relevant to what you are posting, just like you do in your website. It is as simple as that.
Reply
ramr50 Premium
Wow this is an awesome training. I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering.
1. WHen posting into Facebook groups, how many do you post to in a day?
2. Have you ever used one of these free websites to promote on Bing ads or pay per click?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Thank you.

1. It mainly depends on the rules of the group, but a safe amount should be no more than once per day per group.

2. No, I have not yet used the free websites in this way.

Did you post the code in the 'Text' tab of the editor? If you posted it in the 'Visual' tab then you will only see the code when you view it live. It will only work when placed in the Text tab.

Of course in the text tab, but no display the banner I'm talking about my personal web site not this in the wealthy affiliate if some one know this technical issue please let me know the solution thanks.

I was talking about your Wordpress website - not WA. Do you have a link to the page?
Reply

You have to place the banner code into the TEXT portion of your WordPress editor, just like Sean shows in his attached image above.

Then after you place the code in the TEXT WordPress editor you will have to view your website, click Preview, to see the banner.

Hey Robert, what about your Facebook profile? Is it better to have a normal, personal profile or do you have business profile when you share your WA links and/or promoting your Siterubix.com website?
Is one necessarily better than the other?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
For me, I do not have a Facebook business page and I will post my links mainly in targeted Facebook Groups. I on occasion will also post them on my personal profile. Depending on your niche, I find posting your links in a targeted group is better than having a business page.

Fantastic, I really want to promote WA and just could not come up with the right strategy. As a matter of fact I recently added a page about WA to my site and it is completely unrelated to what the site is about. In my mind I just want to tell how I get to build the website through WA and encourage others to do same. It leaves me wondering though if it has any negative impact on my site.

Will be working on this soon after I use the GWT strategy. Thanks much. Well appreciated.
Reply
DocDoug Premium
I had a similar problem. My solution was to get my niche site somewhat developed and start a second site to promote WA that was more appropriate. I didnt want to confuse people who came to my niche by promoting WA there.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You are welcome.

Sometimes putting a page about WA on your niche website may seem like a good idea, but unless it is relevant in some way, it could lead to an awkward User Experience, UX.

Seeing how UX is one of the major Google ranking factors, it is important that any promotion of WA within an unrelated niche website, be done in a tactful way. I explain a few ways at the link below.

So I just took your blog post "The Best Way to Make Money Online at Home - Help People and shared it via Social Pilot to about 11 venues and it seemed to go through just fine. I have a site I build before I got here and was thinking I would just share my affiliate links via my blog as I was experiencing the same thing with the blocking but never does a blog post get blocked but it seems, WA blogs posts are good too.

Am I getting the idea of this post?
Damo
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Sorry for my late reply Damo.

WA blogs will get blocked from Google+ and Pinterest. They seem to be good on other social media sites, but I do not use them all, so some others may block them as well.

No worries, yea I found that out so now I just post my blog posts to Google + but I have not seen it with Pinterest. As long as I use Pretty links they all seem to go through.
Thanks,

Enjoy it while you can because Pretty Links does not mask the links and Google will know its an affiliate link as soon as it redirects.

At last, someone has told me here my longtime curiosity on one thing. All good stuff including how I become WA Members is from this kind web simplicity of pitching it short, sharp, and engaging but is left hanging for more stuff! From there I start taking up FREE WA walkthrough. The FREE timeline given is enough for someone to get the whole pictures. And the "sweetener" using free website option, nevermind about "domainname.siterubixdotcom" because it is pitching "siterubix" inside.

Thanks, sir! Let's rock!

I was recently blocked from my business FB page for one day, with no warning or explanation. I belong to a website and social media promotion group and I must have over-done it! :) This is terrific information on how to do this smarter!
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
The one thing you should never do on social media, especially Facebook and Google+, is to overdo it on your postings. Once per day per link type is enough.
Reply
DocDoug Premium
I would agree that one of the worst things you can do on Facebook, Google+ and I would add Instagram is over-post. Its hard to hold back when you have good content and are anxious to turn your work into income, but they have strong tracking systems that can slow or impede your progress.
Reply
ContentBySue Premium
Hi Robert, the problem, I discovered, was not over-posting but over-Liking. Too many "likes and follows" in a short period of time bottlenecks the system. Many of the people on that group were also blocked for a short period of time. I've learned my lesson.
Reply
DocDoug Premium
Hi @ContentBySue thats fascinating and not something Ive heard before. How many "likes and follows" do you have to do before you are into the caution zone? 20... 100? I have days where I am finding a lot of content to like, especially on instagram.
Reply
ContentBySue Premium
On one posting it was in the range of 30 to 40 likes and follows. That wasn't all, because there was a few more posts in the same group and I did the same with those. I had my first warning about about 100 and then blocked for one day.

I am truly amazed at just how many "out of the box" thinkers that are here on WA ... and, I'm GLAD 'cause that is not my strength, so I REALLY appreciate this sort of information.

I have always been an out of the box thinker. It was a beneficial trait to have when I was in the video game design industry and now I can apply it to affiliate marketing websites too.

Wish there was a way to train my brain to be one, but alas, that is not the case, lol. So will sit by and admire others who, like you, are out of the box thinkers. That is one awesome trait to have.

I used to daydream a lot as a child and sometimes still do as an adult. I think that is why I am an out of the box thinker.

Hmmm ... my "baby" brother did too ... and now he has a PhD in medicine. Hmmmmm ... pays to be a daydreamer ... obviously. I DO admire out of the box thinkers!

Robert - Thanks for this great training. Definitely something I would have never thought of. This is particularly useful for those of us that don't promote Wealthy Affiliate. I really appreciate you sharing your insights.

You are welcome Patrick.

And yes, this does not have to be for only members that promote WA. This can be used for ANY kind of niche and for getting any kind of affiliate link on to social media without it getting blocked.

You are welcome. Though it can take a few hours to set it up, it definitely gives you an extra way to get your WA affiliate links on to social media without them getting blocked.

Thanks for the training!. We can't post the affiliate link directly but we could post our blog post or pages which contain affiliate links without an issue correct. Just double checking.

Yes, you are correct. That is the reason for creating a website such as the one I am talking about in this tutorial.

And for the social media networks that do not have a problem with affiliate links, this website will give an extra option of posting something different than just a straight up affiliate link.

Are there any free web sites for advertising WA web sites?

Hey John,

You can build free websites right here at WA. See screen print below...

Hope this helps you.

I meant a free website where I could post and advertise my WA websites

I do not know of any third party free websites to advertise on. But social media websites are the best place to freely advertise because more people get their info from social media nowadays.
Reply

Oh sorry about that John, I'm the same as Rob for not knowing of any free websites to advertise on, as social media is the freebie detailed in Rob's tutorial here.

You are welcome Michael. Fortunately for me I have not had any major problems with Facebook and continue to post in up to 42 different Groups at least twice a week. But Pinterest and Google+ are definitely on the same page.

Hi Rob, you make this look so easy!

It does make sense not to care about getting ranked by Google seeing that it is solely for social media.

Thanks for the tips on how many times to post and when.
I read a few blog posts on how members get blocked and it doesn't have to be that way.

Great tutorial, I'm sure it will benefit many members as it benefits me. Thanks for sharing your small website.

You are welcome Patsy.

Of those blogs I have read where members are getting blocked, this is a good work-around to that problem.

Sure it will take a few hours to set up a home landing page and one or two blogs, but once it is done all you need to do is share the link to it.

Of those blogs I have read where members have been temporarily banned from Faebook, that mainly has to do with listing too many identical links in many different FB Groups and at the same time with automated listing.

When you manually post your listing in any number of FB Groups, the chances of you getting banned are slim to none. Yes it will take longer to post as many times, but the longer time reduces the chances of getting in trouble.

I have patience for posting manually, for myself I would not have listed identical links to so many at once. It's asking for trouble and looks so spammy.

Yesterday I left a comment on a blog post exactly about this topic and I just left her the link for your tutorial.

This is the blog post... Thanks again!

Yes, the problem many are having with FB Groups is that they are posting too much within 24 hours and many times the same exact link.

Also some groups do not allow posting with links. People need to read and abide by the Group Rules, everyone is different. Sometimes you have to post and ask people if they want info. Once they reply you can PM your link.

Paul (Goodwin) left a blog post and in it he stated how Facebook blocked him again. It's happened to him many times, so I left him the link to your blog post here.

I'm glad I'm learning all of this now before I even create my Facebook business page. I have all the information I need to do it now.

Thanks for all your help and support, and your excellent thorough tutorials!
