You may think that email lists are only for people who want to produce email courses or people with hundreds or thousands of visitors per week, but actually, they are useful for anybody. If someone visits your site and doesn't leave their email address, that is a missed opportunity on your behalf.

On top of that, most email servers only allow you to send out an email to 20 recipients in one go, meaning, if you want to mail 21 or more people, you better use a mail server.

In this tutorial I am going to show you how you can create an e-mail capture form for free that will let you build your first e-mail list without a large expense.

On top of that, I will also show you how you can include a free eBook or other attachment to encourage people to sign up to your list in the first place.

All of this can be done with MadMimi.com

So, let's head over there now and get started.

In case it doesn't immediately jump out, here is what you want to do first.

On the next page, you will see this. It will be defaulted to "free" package first, but double-check that it hasn't switched you onto premium. You may want to upgrade to premium later, but for now, let's be free.

As you can see, you can store up to 2,500 contacts and send 12,500 emails. Once that is used up you will want to upgrade or switch mailing host. That should be a long way off though.

Fill in all your information, then click done. At some point you will need to go to your inbox to activate you account, but you can actually continue without doing that. Nice eh?

Hi Dom, thanks for taking the time to write up this training which is very good, and if I may say so the right level of detail. The other key thing for newbies is that Madmimi is free, which is a great help at start up time,

Okay Steve, I'm a newbie and need clarification What is e-mail drip mean?

e-mail drip is where someone receives emails automatically after signing up, like you sign up, then every day, or every week/month (whatever you choose) you automatically receiving an email. Say you sign up for a 7 day course, every day you receive a new email "day 1" "day 2" etc

Be careful when you use the email drip. Madmimi is not over keen on finding any affiliate links inside the drip you set up. Before they start to send the follow up mails, they check the contents of the email drip for the peruse of account activation... If they find any, they will not activate the auto send.

I tested this out some time ago when you were required to pay for the email drip add on for Madmimi.

This is what you will most likely get in your e-mail box.

Hi there,

Dustin from Mad Mimi here. Taking a further look at the send you're working on, I'm afraid we will be unable to mail on your behalf. We've had very unfortunate results with similar mailings in the past, and we can't actually send affiliate-related content like this. I wish I had better news, but at this point another provider will be a better fit for your sending needs. We wish you the best with your future efforts.

Sincerely,
Dustin

So for those who are going to rush over there keep in mind that you could work on a follow up drip feed for nothing... Keep affiliate links out of it and just link to your blog posts, reviews and pages.
