Use some related keywords or Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI keywords) that are related to what you are writing about. It is good practice and you don´t spam your main keyword all the time. The same rule apply here as with your main keyword don´t spam one LSI keyword, but use different ones where it comes natural.
If you want to learn more about LSI keywords please take a look at http://lsikeywords.com/ you can enter your main keyword and find the LSI keywords that is connected with it.
As many of you probably know the presence of social media signs such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest is important on any site. However Google+ plays a more important role now than before as Google consider anything owned by Google as more valuable. If your site is added to many Google circles it will have a positive impact on your site rankings.
Even more important is Google Authorship, as big G wants to evaluate not only the content of the page and the links to and from the page, but the author of the content as well. This will most likely play a very important part of site rankings in the years to come. Authors who establish them as creators of quality content writers will have an easier job ranking their content in the search engines than others. Craig with the nickname welshy has made a great video source here at WA “How to Manually Setup Google Authorship on WordPress” explaining everything in detail.
Yet another factor that will be positive for your Google ranking is the use of Google Local. Google Local is used on many sites using Google Maps in order to show where they are. This in combination with a good about me / about us page with detailed information is signs that Google will be paying more attention to in the years to come. This will make the site more user friendly and it will be easier to contact the people behind the site. As of February 2013 this is still more important for Local businesses, however there are signs that big G will give this more credit for every site in the future.
Some of you wanted me to expand the tutorial even further. Actually Jay has given a very useful webinar on SEO a few months a go with a SEO Checklist Cheat sheet that I recommend you use in addition to the advice given in this training. Actually if you do this and use the rest of your time focusing on creating unique quality content your site will rank. You should not over optimize your sites as this is not good practice after the Penguin update.
I hope these tips were useful!
If there is one thing to remember for 2013 it is diversify everything so that it doesn´t look spammy!
Thanks!
Henning
