Does It Really Matter?
If you want to be successful, you must have self-confidence. In every aspect of your life, self-confidence is required. Many people struggle to acquire it though and walk through life depriving themselves of far greater achievements, accepting medicocrity instead.
Success breeds success. Confidence ingnites confidence - in you and in others. The more you have, the more you give and the more you receive. It is like an expanding spiral that puts a spring in your step.
Getting a firm grasp on your self-confidence feeds your ability to influence others and attain the results you want. With that influence, you can inspire, motivate, create and achieve greatness.
With self-confidence, you will trust your judgement and believe in your ability and worthiness.
Self-Efficacy And Self-Esteem
The root of self-confidence lies in your relationship with yourself, your self-efficacy. Your self-efficacy grows when you master new skills and achieve your goals and objectives.
Your accomplishments confirm that if you invest time in your learning and you work hard, you will succeed. The more you succeed, the more confident you become and the more your resiliance grows. You understand that challenges will come but you are committed to continuing even though things may get rough.
With a solid sense of self-efficacy, self-esteem increases. This is the feeling of acceptance and approval - validation - that we receive from those around us.
The two are inter-dependent and you should be careful to manage your self-esteem well. If not, and you allow the negative feedback from others to seep in, you can severly damage your self-effficacy.

I never liked doing those exercises in from of the mirror, I never liked the way I felt when having to see myself. Interesting, even now, after reading those prompts, I realized how much I was hiding from myself. There's a lot more to the reasons behind that, but suffice it to say, now I understand what I needed to do to make it this far in life.
Six years ago, I emerged my true self and have traveled quite the journey. Now its time to face the mirror and, quote, 'Make that change ("Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson.).
