Why choosing your battles wisely matters?

Writing reviews about new products does make Google go: “New content, great!”

Your posts should be at least 500 words if you don’t have enough time to fiddle a lot with it. Preferably, it should be at least 1.000 words long. That’s what Google loves even more and tends to move immediately such posts up on its ranking.

What I mean by choosing your battles wisely?

Do not write about any product that comes out. Even if you wanted to, you don’t have enough time.

Take for example the following screenshot taken from JVZoo.

You see all newly released products have less than 10 sales. The last one at the bottom has 250. Perhaps you’d be better off writing a very comprehensive review about that single product, than perhaps five reviews of other products.

On the other hand, you never know if some of these products will become very popular. If they do, improve on such posts and turn them into killer reviews.

Sometimes a single in-depth review can contribute more than all other reviews put together.

I'm #1 in your 2nd screenshot ;-)

My only concern is that if everyone at WA were to do this, it would be much more difficult to grab the #1 spot. Luckily, there are so many new launches every day, there might be plenty to go round anyway.

Isn't that interesting? Your posts rank pretty high on Google so you're doing a great job.

I don't think that's going to happen. You know why? Very few people will actually publish many reviews. So I wouldn't worry too much, though more competition may cause some problems.

Also, many people don't take action. Sad but true.

This technique does involve a lot of work...but it does eventually bring results. I now get over 3,000 visits per months, and the vast majority of the posts on my site are for new IM products.

You mentioned 'traffic lights'. Is this a specific feature for some kind of plugin? Thanks.

Hi Cathy. No, I just labeled it that way for the sake of making my copy more interesting. Have a look at the image below. In the left top corner you'll see something that looks like traffic lights. Your goal is to make sure it turns green from red while you're preparing your post to be published in WP.

I still don't get it. Where do you find this 'traffic light' thing on your WordPress?

Oh I see the confusion. You must have YoastSEO installed to see these traffic lights. If you have this plugin, here's what you have to do.

1. Log into your WP.
2. Click Add new post
3. write your post
4. Scroll down and find "Edit snippet", click on it and
5. Add you meta description that includes your keyword.

Hope this helps.

It's not even thinking outside the box really. Kyle mentions in the bootcamp course that it's good to write about new products as they get released.

I'd like to know other sites that announce new releases. I mean different industries.
