Overview on the Power and Magic of Regular Routines (Daily Habits)
Do you know why regular routines are so effective or I prefer to describe as powerful? It is all about taking small, consistent steps that will accumulate and build up over time. Resulting in sometimes what feels like a 'magic' result but in actual fact it was your disciplined, consistent action over a period of time. Have you experienced it? This can happen both in the positive or the negative. Do share your experiences in the comments below.
To illustrate, let me share a quick story:
I am a person that has always been at a reasonable level of fitness throughout my life. However, about 18 months ago after I sprained my ankle, I didn't exercise regularly (as in daily or almost daily) for about 3 months. This as you can imagine had a big impact on my level of fitness. It was during this time I realised how much my regular, daily and weekly routines accumulated and built up over time for a larger, bigger result. On this occasion, quite literally I became more unfit and therefore bigger in size! However, how I usually achieve good, consistent levels of fitness is not, pressuring myself to exercise 5 times a week but I build it into my daily routine. Then as long as I follow my daily routine then I often end up on average exercising between 4 to 6 times sometimes even 7 times per week. However, it feels almost effortless because I'm only focusing on one day at a time rather than the pressure of 5 times a week.
Therefore, this tutorial is about yes planning out the goals, dreams and aspirations you wish to achieve over the mid and long terms but achieving it in a way that links directly to your daily and weekly routines and given a little daily discipline feels like magic! So who wouldn't like a little more magic in their lives?
I have broken this tutorial into these topics:
Annual Routines
Quarterly Routines
Monthly Routines
Weekly routines and
Daily routines - this is the GOLD
These will be outlined and brought to life with examples about keeping fit (as most of us can relate to that) and also getting the most out of your membership here at WA (because that is what we all have in common here).
So, let's go!
