Yoast Readability Function

Recently I discovered the Yoast Readability Function, and I thought that I would pass this on to anyone else who has not yet discovered it or who is not yet using it.

When you look at your list of Posts in Wordpress Editor, you will see at the far right hand side of that list there are two columns headed "SEO" and "Readability", as shown below:

You will see that each column has either a green or a grey circle.

It is obvious that it is preferable to have a green circle for each.

So should we do anything about that?

Next up: Checking the Readability

Good training, Chrissie! I love Yoast SEO and I take SEO and Readability seriously! The neat thing is that by checking these two indicators, it isn't long before you notice that you know the rules behind the indicators and your writing improves significantly! I can now write a post and know before checking it that it meets these two standards. I have also noticed that it says the keyword is not in the first paragraph too, when it is. So, I just ignore that.

It can be like that but very good to use for guidance.

Great job, C. I look at it sometimes, to be honest. Otherwise, I just do my best and not get too stressed by the colors. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks, Chrissie. I use Yoast and for the most part, love it. Except it tells me all of the time my first paragraph does not start with my keyword AND IT DOES. Gets me a little crazy sometimes. Other days I just ignore it. It is like Grammarly....love it some days and others not so much. HA €:) shary

One thing to note is I run Grammarly premium which checks for passive voice issues as does Yoast. I notice Yoast will flag more Passive voice issues than Grammarly, not sure why. Does anyone else have this issue?

I don't use Grammarly, so I can't help you there I'm afraid.
But I do take Yoast's strict % somewhat loosely!!

Love Yoast. It was annoying at first, but I find it is much easier to get a green light on readability now.

I've have a red light on #2 on the list, on one or more of my post's. However, it's false. I have no consecutive sentences starting with the same word. I checked, double checked, and triple checked. No such issue. I take it with a grain of salt.

I noticed that one of my bullied lists started with the same word, and on reflection I thought it probably looked better if I varied it :)
