This training is primarily for newbies, and I’m creating it in response to several requests I received recently while engaged in WA community discussions.

If you are already well versed in this topic, you may or may not find something of value here, perhaps you can pick up a tip or two, but at the very least please do click on the green “like this” button, as that helps The Old Silly’s chances of WA approving this training. I am sure there are plenty of people just getting started who will find it useful.

First of all, you need to find the plugins that you want. If you have no clue about where to look, go and visit some other WA members’ sites, and see what they are using. You may need to PM the sites’ authors, and ask for the name of a particular plugin you wish to consider adding. Another good way is to simply do a Google search, for something like: “Plugins for WordPress list and purpose”.

There are thousands of them ...

... so don’t go crazy. You can overdo it, and bog down your site if you have a bazillion plugins whirling around on your site. Pick one or two to start, and go from there, a step at a time.

You do, of course, want to at least have these basic and much needed plugins installed:

    ·Pretty Link

    ·Askimet Anti-Spam

    ·All in One SEO Package

    ·Si Captcha Anti-Spam

If you don’t already have those, use the following instructions to install them first, before adding any of the “bells and whistles” kinds of plugins, which we will get into on the next page.

And please remember to click below on the green "like this" button if you are finding value with this training.
