You may be wondering whether to take more time growing and marketing to an email list or starting a PPC campaign. These are just two marketing channels available to grow your online business. Undoubtedly you should become knowledgeable in various aspects of Internet marketing, but where should you concentrate your efforts first?

Google has made an interactive tool available for your use to help sort out which channel merits your attention first. Have a look at the video - it won't answer all your questions, but it will shed some light on your efforts to prioritize.

Greetings Tom!

Your comment in your profile is spot on - technical expertise and sales ability are two different beasts. Hopefully this tool (and others like it) will smooth the way for the sales challenged among us - myself included!

Hi Dennis - nice, thanks for posting! I just checked the tool for my purpose - and it's hard to say because the categories are so general, but it looked like organic search was always on the cold side, which was unexpected. Email generally was on the warm side - what do you think about that? How is it influencing your next steps?
Best~

Good to meet you Maria!

I'm in transition. I have an AdSense site that's doing reasonably well, and am beginning to set up an Amazon Affiliate website. I was as amazed as you were to see how much the marketing channels moved around as the three parameters in the tool changed. Amazing!

I did build a small email list for the AdSense site (about 2,000 members), and made a few dollars by monetizing the list. It looks like I should spend more time and effort on a list for the Amazon site, based on the suggestions from the Google tool.

Stay tuned!

Great to know! Thanks Dennis. Had no idea this existed.
(One more thing to distract me)
Hope you're doing well :)

Greetings Stephen!

At least this distraction will only detain you for 2 minutes. At that point, you'll be armed with the information you need to focus you publishing / PPC / email efforts. There's nothing more to do with it - unless you start a new web site.

Best of luck on stage and on the web :)

Greetings Angélique!

It's amazing how much those three parameters (size of the enterprise, location of the target market, and subject matter of the web site) affect the purchaser's buying decisions. With luck, that knowledge will prove to be helpful in growing our online income.

All the best in your travels!

Never thought of all these parameters and how they affect buyers decisions.
Knowing about it will definitely be a 'plus'.
PS: Not travelling as much as I would like lately... but getting there soon ;)
All the best Dennis!

Hi Helen!

Glad to hear you've set aside spending non-productive time as you begin your online career. That's part of the beauty of this little tool. It takes literally minutes, and you won't need to use it again unless you start a new web site.

Best of luck in marketing your business!

Glad to hear the info may be helpful Rob. With so many tools to use for analysis, it can be difficult to quit playing with them and write the content needed for success.

This is a great little tool though - a few minutes of evaluation can get you off on the right foot, and you don't need to touch the tool again until you start another web site.

Gotta love it!
