You have likely heard the term "keyword research". This is the act of finding keyword phrases that are relevant to your niche and deciding whether or not it is appropriate to build content around that particular keyword.

Keywords are going to be the “root” of all your SEO success.

First Off, WHAT IS A KEYWORD?

A keyword is simply a word or phrase that people search for in the search engines. Every time you do a google search you are entering a "keyword" into the search box.

For example, here is an example search I did in Google.

The "calorie based diet" input is a keyword. I searched for something that I was looking for and Google is going to provide me with the most relevant results (see below).

When I click on one of these results, I am taken to a website that has been "ranked" in Google. If I purchase something from that page or click an ad, that website owner will make money as a result.

With your SEO and your keyword research efforts, your goal is going to be to building a list of relevant keywords to your niche, and then working to rank them in Google just like this.

There are literally MILLIONS of keywords in every niche, leading to incredible potential. And by being a member at Wealthy Affiliate and what you are going to learn here about proper "ranking techniques", you are going to have the competitive edge over your competition.

In this lesson you are going to be tasked to come up with a few "keywords" relevant to your website and your niche.

Each Post You Create Will Be Targeting a Keyword...

Moving forward, you are going to be building content on your website. Each page of content that you create will target a brand new keyword (and we will be showing you how).

This means that every page/post will have the opportunity to rank under that given keyword in Google and lead to you getting traffic.

100 posts = 100 target keywords = 100+ potential Google rankings.

This can and will lead to mass amounts of traffic and those that follow along with this training are going to see their traffic continue to go up with every "keyword targeted" page or post that they create on their website.

Remember, Google and other search engines exist because of CONTENT and if you can deliver quality content (that targets low competition keywords), you will be able to get great rankings!

I have created a video walk-through of this lesson called "Keyword Mastery - Keywords are the Foundation of Your Content" and I suggest you watch on keyword mastery. It is going to increase your comfort level with keywords by 100 fold!

Task 1: Perform 5 different searches using Jaaxy

Your next task is going to be performing 5 searches relevant to your niche using the Jaaxy Keyword Tool.

To access Jaaxy, you are going to simply click the "Research" tab within the top menu, as shown below.

This will open up the entire Jaaxy platform, which is a highly sophisticated research platform that you have access to here at Wealthy Affiliate.

To access the keyword research platform, you will do so through the "Keywords" tab once inside Jaaxy (as shown below).

My suggestion with your initial searches is to start broad with a few of your searches (ie. two or three word searches). For example if your niche was "calorie based diets", you might want to start with the search terms:

  • calorie counting
  • calorie diets
  • how to count calories
  • etc

Here is an example search that I did using the "calorie counting" as the search phrase.

As you can see there are several columns of "keyword data". These are all very important when it comes to choosing keywords that are going to be useful to you.

  • Keyword. This is the search phrase that the data to the right of it is representing.
  • Avg. This is the overall monthly traffic this search term gets, globally.
  • Traffic. This is the estimated amount of traffic you will get if you rank on the first page of Google under this term.
  • QSR. Known as Quoted Search Results, this is the exact number of results in Google that you are competing with under this search phrase. In other words, this is how much competition you have.
  • KQI (Keyword Quality Indicator). This is a quick indicator on the keyword viability and quality based on all of the combined metrics.

If you do a search and you don't see the full data, you simply need to click the "Get QSR" link and it will fetch the data for you. You will see that if that particular keyword has never been searched before.

**Note: If you are a Premium Plus+ member, you have access to Jaaxy Enterprise which provides INSTANT QSR results.

Next, I want to discuss how to "choose" appropriate keywords for your content. This is critical in terms of getting ranked in Google and being the most efficient with your time. Don't worry though, it isn't all that complex. :)

The Rules of a Quality Keyword

There are a few rules that you need to follow

Rule #1: More than 30 monthly searches. You want your far left "Avg" column to ideally be greater than 30. Sometimes it is OK to go with a search volume less than this, but over 30 searches per month is ideal.

Rule #2: Less than 100 QSR (Competition). You want to keep your competition below 100 pages in Google, the lower the better though obviously. You will likely come across many terms with less than 100 QSR when doing your research, and that is even better!

As you progress with your website, under 200 is perfectly fine as you will be gaining more authority and better ranks in search engines.

Rule #3: Keyword must make sense. This is critically important. If the keyword doesn't make grammatical sense, don't use it. Do another search on the keyword that makes sense as that will likely give you different data and that is the data you want to measure.

An example of this is "best tips lose belly fat" which doesn't make grammatical sense (it is missing the "to"). I would do another search on this but this time "best tips to lose belly fat".

Do this exact process within your niche to come up with 5 Keywords. If you have any questions about the keyword research proces, please leave them in the comments below. :)

Important Note: As a Premium member here you not only get access UNLIMITED keyword searches using Jaaxy, you get many more features that are available within Jaaxy. These include more SiteRank scans, faster results, domain search affiliate program search and much more. Jaaxy Lite is 100% Included when you upgrade to Premium.

Go Premium and Get Jaaxy Lite (& Unlimited Searches)!

Tasks 0/3 completed
2. Perform at Least 5 Searches Using Jaaxy (do as many as you want though)
3. Find 5 Keywords that meet the keyword criteria (related to niche, 30 avg searches, less than 100 competition)

Hi

An about me is typically a POST.

You need head to Appearance > Menus, create new and add items to it. If you made your post a page by mistake, you can always use the Post Type Switcher plugin

When you go onto the Templates for example your About Me Page, click on Publish then on the Publication Settings, choose your website name then Click Page to publish. Your pages are your menus.

Did you "Publish" your About Me page. Unless it is published it can't be added to a menu.

When you go to WordPress backoffice it should show when hovering over "all pages and all posts".

Menu access is appearance -> Manus

Look at top for menu location
Create a new menu.

To find your pages or posts to add to the menu click on pages or posts on the left hand side. If not appear do "view all" or search for one. "Add" it to menu; then drag it in order you wish to see in the menu.

You are using a different theme than the training so your site may look a little different because you have a "home page"

HI

It is a process, it starts with choosing a focused niche site, onward getting site ready for affiliate programs.

We are so happy to have you with us, and we know you are going to enjoy and benefit greatly from the Wealthy Affiliate training here.

For the first seven days you can test drive the Wealthy Affiliate platform limited premium access to see if it fits with your business needs and objectives.

The Wealthy Affiliate is a learning platform that teaches us how to build a progressive successful site for affiliate marketing. Please follow the Wealthy Affiliate training and apply what is taught all is explained within the lessons, ticking checklists at the bottom, tasks asked of you to complete in order to set up properly and guide you through the process.

You have access to Level One of OEC And level One of the Affiliate Bootcamp How to make money by Kyle As and when you decide to become a Wealthy Affiliate Premium, your first month would be $19 then $49 monthly afterwards until you cancel. Premiums can host up to 10 sites (mix of siterubix subdomains and premiums however 9totalling 10)

Or $49 first month then $99 monthly afterwards for premium plus + tier subscribers. Premium plus can also host up to 50 premium sites.

You may start with a siterubix subdomain around a focused niche and build up content and until you are satisfied with your niche and name, down the line have your own dot com, as some affiliate programs do not work with a subdomain. Cost of which is $15 yearly each privacy included. You can then move your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within the site manager which is an easy process. However hosting is included in a premium subscription to the Wealthy Affiliate platform.

Another reason is that if you made a mistake on a dot com domain, you won't be able to edit the URL, you'd have to purchase a new one.

In the first instance, I'd ask myself

Am I passionate and genuinely interested in my chosen niche, as I I'd be expected to write lots of content, it would motivate me to update blog with succinct original content worthy my visitors week in week out.

Would I be writing about it in a years time or two or more

Who would be my target audience, who would benefit most from what I have to offer.

The question is WHO would be your target audience vs Not what you are selling to an audience.

You need aim for ONE focused niche with a specific group of people, I'd go with what's best resonates with me.

The recommendation is to focus on ONE site starting out as it takes lots of effort and work get it going, however once you know what you are doing, then the learning curve would be less steeper to scale up.

That's a great niche to be in however broad you may want to narrow it down to a subcategory starting out, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites. Target audience is important too, who would you be writing to, once you are able to identify them, you are closer to finding a focused niche.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

See example blog post below A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

For example if you are in yoga

You may like review below resource for more ideas

Yoga exercises for beginners

https://onemorecupof-coffee.com/yoga-affiliate-niche-research/

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Your niche research which you'd fine in site content > templates:-

Questions People are Asking
How to Solutions
Resources Within the Niche
Products You Can Promote/Review
Affiliate Programs
Products
Top Authority Sites/Competitors
Low Competition Keywords
Popular Magazines / Papers / Periodicals
Advertisement Ideas / Headline Ideas

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Programs

Your site need be ready before you apply for affiliate programs

You would have written 20 - 30 posts and have some traffic to be able apply for affiliate programs as typically they will check your site for relevance and traffic prior approval.

For Amazon it is 10 - 15 posts. You also would have to make 3 sales in your first 180 days.

Lucrative programs - 40 posts +

Once accepted, they've given you material and special tracking code links you can share on your site.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once they do, and in accordance with your affiliation terms and conditions, how commission payouts are tracked and paid. You need to read up how payments are made because different programs follow different rules; some pay by check others via PayPal or straight to your check account.

I would always adhere to your affiliate program terms and conditions.

Hope this helps.

If you apply the ideas you have, you will know if it will work for you. The way I see it is you never know if you don't try, right sometime sooner or later the idea has got to escape the head to work.

2 ways I addressed this.

1. Follow the training step by step and things will start to fall into place. There'll be some do's and don'ts that will come to mind as you go along.

2. Put all your ideas down in a notebook. Review regularly. Often, I find once I have a product or service in mind, I can repurpose the blog ideas to help drive traffic to my point of sale.

Hope that helps.

Hi again sorry to be a nuisance as I've already asked this question, and one of the members suggested to go back through the training to find the answer. I have done that, but wasn't covered on the video and because I'm still learning how to learn to use computers lol. What I need to know is how do you take the text that is on the title and description we need to fill in on the SEO. At the moment it has Just another WordPress Site. Hope this makes sense.

How did you try to publish them? Your 'about me' should be a post and your Privacy Policy should be a page.

If your About Me and Privacy Policy are already published,
Can you find them when you go to the WordPress Back Office and hover over pages and posts?

They should be there if they were "published."

If you find your About Me and Your Privacy policy, clear your browser the go to Appearance and menus when checking "page" or "post" in the dropdown on the left hand side you may need to select all or do a search to see them.

I am just going to say; do the Training; not only that; but for the videos; you can pause, rewind and fast forward. So, if you are having a problem? Try pausing and rewinding a few times; for the videos and see if that helps?

Hi

First you need to go to Appearance > Menus, WordPress sites back office and create a new menu.

Once you do, then you start to add items to your menu. You may need to empty the browser cache, refresh and try again. Try URL in a different browser or mobile device.
Reply

To change your theme, here is what to do.

You may go to Appearance > Themes and add new.

Input what you are looking for, install and activate.

Your content will be left intact, you may lose out on CSS styles and social media icons if that, however with a bit of tweaking and you are done.

We always recommend you leaving a back up theme, you may od with the Twenty TwentOne.

Hope this helps

Furthermore, and for future reference

If you edited a document in site content and published it, future edits has to be done in WordPress. Site content and WordPress work independently.

I'd place my images in a document in site content and publish it to my site. it will be added to my WordPress media library. Then delete the “temporary image” doc in site content so that it does not get indexed as well.
