You have likely heard the term "keyword research". This is the act of finding keyword phrases that are relevant to your niche and deciding whether or not it is appropriate to build content around that particular keyword.

Keywords are going to be the “root” of all your SEO success.

First Off, WHAT IS A KEYWORD?

A keyword is simply a word or phrase that people search for in the search engines. Every time you do a google search you are entering a "keyword" into the search box.

For example, here is an example search I did in Google.

This is a keyword. I searched for something that I was looking for and Google is going to provide me with the most relevant results (see below).

When I click on one of these results, I am taken to a website that has been "ranked" in Google. If I purchase something from that page or click an ad, that website owner will make money as a result.

With your SEO and your keyword research efforts, your goal is going to be to building a list of relevant keywords to your niche, and then working to rank them in Google just like this.

There are literally MILLIONS of keywords in every niche, leading to incredible potential. And by being a member at Wealthy Affiliate and what you are going to learn here about proper "ranking techniques", you are going to have the competitive edge over your competition.

In this lesson you are going to be tasked to come up with a few "keywords" relevant to your website and your niche.

Each Post You Create Will Be Targeting a Keyword...

Moving forward, you are going to be building content on your website. Each page of content that you create will target a brand new keyword (and we will be showing you how).

This means that every page/post will have the opportunity to rank under that given keyword in Google and lead to you getting traffic.

100 posts = 100 target keywords = 100+ potential Google rankings.

This can and will lead to mass amounts of traffic and those that follow along with this training are going to see their traffic continue to go up with every "keyword targeted" page or post that they create on their website.

Remember, Google and other search engines exist because of CONTENT and if you can deliver quality content (that targets low competition keywords), you will be able to get great rankings!

I have created a video walk-through of this lesson called "Keyword Mastery - Keywords are the Foundation of Your Success"and I suggest you watch on keyword mastery. It is going to increase your comfort level with keywords by 100 fold!

Task 1: Perform 5 different searches using Jaaxy.com

Your next task is going to be performing 5 searches relevant to your niche using the Jaaxy Keyword Tool.

There is a quick search feature available to you right within the Jaaxy menu. You simply click on the menu and it will pop up the submenu, with the search available right within it.

You can see I have entered "increase vertical jump" into the search (as shown below).

My suggestion is to start broad with a few of your searches (ie. two or three word searches). For example if your niche was "basketball skills & drills", you might want to start with the search terms:

  • basketball drills
  • basketball skills
  • increase vertical jump
  • dribbling drills
  • etc

After performing the search, you will simply want to click the "magnifying glass" icon or press enter on your keyboard.

Here are how the search results look for the "increase vertical jump" search.

As you can see there are several columns of "keyword data". These are all very important when it comes to choosing keywords that are going to be useful to you.

  • Keyword. This is the search phrase that the data to the right of it is representing.
  • Avg. This is the overall monthly traffic this search term gets, globally.
  • Traffic. This is the estimated amount of traffic you will get if you rank on the first page of Google under this term.
  • QSR. Known as Quoted Search Results, this is the exact number of results in Google that you are competing with under this search phrase. In other words, this is how much competition you have.
  • KQI (Keyword Quality Indicator)

If you do a search and you don't see the full data, you simply need to click the "Get QSR" link and it will fetch the data for you. You will see that if that particular keyword has never been searched before.

Next, I want to discuss how to "choose" appropriate keywords for your content. This is critical in terms of getting ranked in Google and being the most efficient with your time. Don't worry though, it isn't all that complex. :)

The Rules of a Quality Keyword

There are a few rules that you need to follow

Rule #1: More than 30 monthly searches. You want your far left "Avg" column to ideally be greater than 30. Sometimes it is OK to go with a search volume less than this, but over 30 searches per month is ideal.

Rule #2: Less than 100 QSR (Competition). You want to keep your competition below 100 pages in Google, the lower the better though obviously. You will likely come across many terms with less than 100 QSR when doing your research, and that is even better!

As you progress with your website, under 200 is perfectly fine as you will be gaining more authority and better ranks in search engines.

Rule #3: Keyword must make sense. This is critically important. If the keyword doesn't make grammatical sense, don't use it. Do another search on the keyword that makes sense as that will likely give you different data and that is the data you want to measure.

An example of this is "best tips lose belly fat" which doesn't make grammatical sense (it is missing the "to"). I would do another search on this but this time "best tips to lose belly fat".

Do this exact process within your niche to come up with 5 Keywords. If you have any questions about the keyword research proces, please leave them in the comments below. :)

Important Note: As a Premium member here you not only get access UNLIMITED keyword searches using Jaaxy, you get many more features that are available within Jaaxy. Hi - unfortunately, affiliate marketing is a long term commitment. The sooner you build your website, the better, as age plays a part as to getting your site ranked in Google. You need to follow the training step by step, and you will have built your site by the end of lesson 4. Your next step is to add lots of original content to it.

If you know anybody who may be interested in this program, you could email them your personal affiliate link and earn a commission if they go premium. You can find your link in the dollar symbol at the top of the page. Go to links and tracking.

Well, I don`t know overall to suggest; except this; you could try advertising Wealthy Affiliate on other Websites; and seeing if you can make money here; and I am not sure about making money here? But, at least if you made credits that could go towards your monthly bills for Wealthy Affiliate; it would not cost so much. You should really ask Kyle and Carson about making money quickly on here. They might have some suggestions. Just put their names into the search box above separately.

If you need to make money to fund your membership, you can do that by writing articles for other people. Try UpWork. More details: To make money from your affiliate website, it's going to take at least a few weeks or months to gain tractions. There's no "quick" way, or shortcut. If there was, everyone would be doing it.

There are TONS of writing jobs out there, and they can all be done from your computer, from anywhere in the world!

There are other models. Everything has risk of course. No guarantees. And different levels of expense required.

Anyway... you do NOT need to build an authority site to make affiliate sales. Of course not. It is only one model. The benefits are ultimately you have traffic coming in on auto pilot for free from search engines.

KEEP IN MIND... NOTHING IS EASY. AND IF YOU HAVEN'T GONE THROUGH THE TRAINING HERE YET THEN YOU WON'T BE IN A POSITION TO EVEN DO THIS STUFF.

WORST THING TO DO IS SWITCH FROM THING TO THING TO THING... ALWAYS LEADS TO "FAILURE".

With that all being said... simplest way to try to make money from affiliate marketing would be to market directly from free and paid ads to affiliate products. I have done that in the past. It works okay but nothing great.

Much better is to set up a landing page that pre-sells the visitors then leads them to the affiliate offer. And you market that landing page. You can create 25 free websites here which would be perfect for that. So you could setup 10 to 20 "campaigns" like this and let them run...just single page... landing pages.

Then just leave that stuff alone basically just forget about them and get back to work on building your authority website.

If you make an occasional sale from your landing page campaigns then great. The only reason I am sharing this is that it does at least give the opportunity to make some tiny amount of money while you are busy building your niche authority website.

I am creating an online weight reduction program with an affiliate component. It will be different than anything available now. The name of the program will be "Click and Grow Thin." I've secured the .com domain name. Affiliates would be paid 50% of the enrollment fee plus 20% of any back end up-sales.

What would an affiliate want to see in the program before they felt comfortable promoting it to their tribe? This not a commitment on your part - just a hypothetical.

What would be a reasonable price to charge? My thought is ($197) to make it super affordable for most people. Others suggested the price be $497.
Any suggestions, ideas or criticism is welcomed.

I am very eager to success through this type of business my question is looking on my future goals. Is it possible to achieve them in a space of 3 months if I am to put the effort as I have indicated the time I am willing to invest in this??

That varies in everyone. Some people start making money after one month, others after 3, 6 or even after a year! Focus on your training and making great content. The rest will come along the way.

Hi - unless you already have some knowledge of affiliate marketing you are unlikely to see any income at all for at least 3 months, more realistically it would be 6 months.

Thank you Steeph for your reply. I actually don't want to set my self some unrealistic goals☺

Thank you Diane. I surely will work hard. And will dedicate more of my time into this

I'd sa 6 months to a year is a better time frame. If you want to get results in 3 months you'll have to do paid traffic.

I've decided my niche and my question to the pros is do I create a blog for my content and tie to my website or create the website and post all the content and video on the website? the later in my eyes keeps everything under one roof instead of the jump from blog to website and vice versa.

If you follow the WA training you will see that your "blog" and your website are essentially one in the same. The only thing you don't really want to do is have a site/blog that covers more than one niche; keep the content tight.

Your blogs are in your website. You need to create a website so you can start writing blogs, adding videos and photos etc. It’ll be your blog (after you purchase a domain) so you can run it whoever you like.

Thanks Steeph and please to meet you. To what degree do plugins have incorporating my videos and a blog on my website? I have a ton of plugins from other marketers and have no clue how to use them. I had a webmaster when I use to do this so never learnt the actual processes. I am working through the courses and no problems yet. I hope we can discuss at other times when I have issues.
Appreciate you!

The possibilities seem endless!
However, why do I feel like it seems to good to be true yet a heck of a lot to do? My mind feels like it's going to explode. Yes everyone has an affiliate program, and I mean everybody. And, there are millions of niches. I get it.
But do you mean to tell me that I'll have to register with multiple companies as an affiliate once I have my multiple niches. Then create websites for said affiliations and niches, manage all of this, and still be able to find time to eat, sleep, and live my best life?
😐Hmmm, does the premium pkg include a PA??
Or perhaps my own little platoon of minions to help me steal the moon😆...
...I mean make all of this happen???
I'm certain the training will simplify things, but at the moment I'm a lil uneasy. Especially since I really can't afford an additional bill right now.

Hi - yes, this is a legitimate program, but it does take a lot of hard work and is a long term commitment.

First of all, as a beginner, I wouldn't recommend having multiple niches. You should only have one niche on a website, and trying to add content to just that one website can be time-consuming in itself. So, in other words, just start with one niche on one website.

You can't apply to affiliate programs until you have built your website, as they will inspect it before they approve you. So, your initial focus will be on building your first website and adding content to it which relates to your chosen niche.

You can stay as a starter member for as long as you like, and are given 2 free websites.

This is all covered in the training, which you should follow step by step and not try and rush ahead.

I'm new as well and I agree there's a lot to think about. But, hey now, take a deep breath and try to slow it down! You can do these lessons one at a time and build your one website based on one niche you've picked out. And you can do that for free. Just take this one step at a time because you have to learn to walk before you can run! I'm sincerely wishing you all the best!

Is there a norm on timing to get through training?
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - that's impossible to answer. Everyone learns at a different speed. You might understand it straight away or need to watch the videos more than once.

You might only have an hour per day to spare or 8 hours. It might take you an hour to write each post for your site or a couple of days.

You’re right. It takes time! And a lot of it. But as you go through the trainings you’ll find how to manage your time so that you can run your website and also step away from it for a bit. Regarding affiliate programs, you can join affiliate networks! Those have different programs to almost every niche. All you need is one account and you will be provided wit an affiliate link to the program you’d like to join.

When you’re starting out try not to make too many websites and instead just focus on one. It’ll be a lot easier.
