You have likely heard the term "keyword research". This is the act of finding keyword phrases that are relevant to your niche and deciding whether or not it is appropriate to build content around that particular keyword.

Keywords are going to be the “root” of all your SEO success.

First Off, WHAT IS A KEYWORD?

A keyword is simply a word or phrase that people search for in the search engines. Every time you do a google search you are entering a "keyword" into the search box.

For example, here is an example search I did in Google.

This is a keyword. I searched for something that I was looking for and Google is going to provide me with the most relevant results (see below).

When I click on one of these results, I am taken to a website that has been "ranked" in Google. If I purchase something from that page or click an ad, that website owner will make money as a result.

With your SEO and your keyword research efforts, your goal is going to be to building a list of relevant keywords to your niche, and then working to rank them in Google just like this.

There are literally MILLIONS of keywords in every niche, leading to incredible potential. And by being a member at Wealthy Affiliate and what you are going to learn here about proper "ranking techniques", you are going to have the competitive edge over your competition.

In this lesson you are going to be tasked to come up with a few "keywords" relevant to your website and your niche.

Each Post You Create Will Be Targeting a Keyword...

Moving forward, you are going to be building content on your website. Each page of content that you create will target a brand new keyword (and we will be showing you how).

This means that every page/post will have the opportunity to rank under that given keyword in Google and lead to you getting traffic.

100 posts = 100 target keywords = 100+ potential Google rankings.

This can and will lead to mass amounts of traffic and those that follow along with this training are going to see their traffic continue to go up with every "keyword targeted" page or post that they create on their website.

Remember, Google and other search engines exist because of CONTENT and if you can deliver quality content (that targets low competition keywords), you will be able to get great rankings!

I have created a video walk-through of this lesson and I suggest you watch on keyword mastery. It is going to increase your comfort level with keywords by 100 fold!

DISCUSS VIDEO: Keyword Mastery - Keywords are the Foundation of Your Success

Task 1: Perform 5 different searches using Jaaxy.com

Your next task is going to be performing 5 searches relevant to your niche using the Jaaxy Keyword Tool.

There is a quick search feature available to you right within the Jaaxy menu. You simply click on the menu and it will pop up the submenu, with the search available right within it.

You can see I have entered "increase vertical jump" into the search (as shown below).

My suggestion is to start broad with a few of your searches (ie. two or three word searches). For example if your niche was "basketball skills & drills", you might want to start with the search terms:
  • basketball drills
  • basketball skills
  • increase vertical jump
  • dribbling drills
  • etc

After performing the search, you will simply want to click the "magnifying glass" icon or press enter on your keyboard.

Here are how the search results look for the "increase vertical jump" search.

As you can see there are several columns of "keyword data". These are all very important when it comes to choosing keywords that are going to be useful to you.

  • Keyword. This is the search phrase that the data to the right of it is representing.
  • Avg. This is the overall monthly traffic this search term gets, globally.
  • Traffic. This is the estimated amount of traffic you will get if you rank on the first page of Google under this term.
  • QSR. Known as Quoted Search Results, this is the exact number of results in Google that you are competing with under this search phrase. In other words, this is how much competition you have.
  • KQI (Keyword Quality Indicator)

If you do a search and you don't see the full data, you simply need to click the "Get QSR" link and it will fetch the data for you. You will see that if that particular keyword has never been searched before.

Next, I want to discuss how to "choose" appropriate keywords for your content. This is critical in terms of getting ranked in Google and being the most efficient with your time. Don't worry though, it isn't all that complex. :)

The Rules of a Quality Keyword

There are a few rules that you need to follow

Rule #1: More than 30 monthly searches. You want your far left "Avg" column to ideally be greater than 30. Sometimes it is OK to go with a search volume less than this, but over 30 searches per month is ideal.

Rule #2: Less than 100 QSR (Competition). You want to keep your competition below 100 pages in Google, the lower the better though obviously. You will likely come across many terms with less than 100 QSR when doing your research, and that is even better!

As you progress with your website, under 200 is perfectly fine as you will be gaining more authority and better ranks in search engines.

Rule #3: Keyword must make sense. This is critically important. If the keyword doesn't make grammatical sense, don't use it. Do another search on the keyword that makes sense as that will likely give you different data and that is the data you want to measure.

An example of this is "best tips lose belly fat" which doesn't make grammatical sense (it is missing the "to"). I would do another search on this but this time "best tips to lose belly fat".

Do this exact process within your niche to come up with 5 Keywords.

Important Note: As a Premium member here you not only get access UNLIMITED keyword searches using Jaaxy, you get many more features that are available within Jaaxy. These include more SiteRank scans, faster results, domain search affiliate program search and much more. Jaaxy Lite is 100% Included when you upgrade to Premium.

Go Premium and Get Jaaxy Lite (& Unlimited Searches)!

Tasks 0/3 completed
2. Perform at Least 5 Searches Using Jaaxy (do as many as you want though)
3. Find 5 Keywords that meet the keyword criteria (related to niche, 30 avg searches, less than 100 competition)

This is wow! Firstly, I want to be sincere to myself and have a rest of mind about my presence on this platform. I am Adejare Femi from Nigeria. I was initially declined to join because of my location, I am eventually here via an IP which am sure is not unknown to this community. My quest to join or be part of a platform like this dated to 2011. Along the line I came across many systems like Digital Altitude among others. I really want to be successful online. I learnt and acquired my skills through paid courses online using my Debit ATM card. I said this because I want to make it aboundantly clear that I am legitimate in my dealings and law abiding.
My question therefore is this, am I still being welcomed to this amazing set of people on this platform?
Please I need your support and I want to be here to achieve my online goals to be successful. Whatever might be your decision, I still want to say thank you for being kind and committed to see others succeed online.

So my website is called ski and snowboard gear. I am going to start with goggles and helmets as my niche but I kept the domain broad so I could build on it in the future.

But back to Jaxxy... as I was performing my key word searches I found really good results on stuff related to women's snowboarding gear. I am a girl that snowboards and have a huge knowledge and interest base in that kind of thing too.

Do you guys think that writing content about women's gear within this website is a reasonable thing to do and makes sense?
Reply
Zappades Premium
I very much think so. The more you narrow down the easier it is to target a group of people.
Reply

If you want to concentrate on female gear then go for it.
You can always have a Category for male gear.

Hi Clay, I think your on point, if a guy needs to buy a gift for a woman he'll need to find out about the products , and your info about the products will help the sale. Good luck Pat

Sounds like a great place to start. you could always focus on the topic of women's gear and whatnot, but still have gear for everyone for sale.

I am always worried about wrinkles. Every time I go to the store I head right for the health and beauty care. You won't believe how many facial creams I have at home. I guess I just answered my question, which would be a nich around wrinkles. Would that work?
Reply
MoneyMagnet3 Premium
Hi. You can definitely do a niche around that. And if you want to break it down futher, you can do a niche for wrinkles around women to prevent it before a certain age.

You can also do a niche around "crepe skin" or wrinkly skin on their body parts.
Reply
Thank you for the advice. Can I broaden that later with facial products or anything to help wrinkles?
Reply
MoneyMagnet3 Premium
You mean the crepe skin? I'm thinking I would use that as a niche by itself and a site by itself. I googled "how to get rid of crepey skin" and it came up with:
______________ naturally
________________ on chest
__________________ face
____________________ neck
_____________________arm

The blank spots are because I didn't feel like typing in the whole phrase. But I would use this as a niche and just dedicate your site to this.

But you can ask other people if you think it's too narrow.

I agree with Shalisha, this is certainly a niche you could work at. I like the crepe skin one too!

Why is my "about Me" tab blue, when my "Private Policy" is green?? I unfortunately had fallen into a scam previously, that dealt with affiliate programs, I was blessed enough to discover it was a scam and then find Wealthy Affiliate! For that I am very grateful, and love everything here just that much more!! I started this training process though with my previous niche idea, had a few of troubles, and decided to start fresh so that I may learn properly and effectively. My questions is my previous niche, and new niche "Private Policy" tabs are green, and my old niche "About Me" tab is green,.....so why would my NEW "About Me" tab be blue? Did I accidentally do something different on that particular one?

hello :) If you have some experience in online marketing and affiliate, then you can start to earn with two free websites from us.

How realistic? :) you should walk through the first 10 lessons and then can you give the feedback?

As I said above, you don't need to upgrade to premium. The premium will allow you to get more access to lessons beyond and more benefit from other tools. And the most value is the community support :) not every platform out there have it.

We have many people here at WA from Austria that are experiencing great success and we have MANY people from EVERY single country in the world. It's awesome!

Your country will not limit your success and I really do look forward to seeing you progress as you move through the training.

And by lesson 9, you will have your own niche website set-up and a solid foundation for your business set-up which will lead you to long term and sustainable success.

You will highly benefit from Premium, but ultimately this is up to you and I would recommend that you make this decision as you move through the training.

One of the greatest things about WA is that you get a No-time limit Free account with the Starter package. That means you can learn the system and explore it entirely without spending a coin. Here there is no risk of getting scammed!
I really encourage you to go through the 10 FREE lessons, and explore the different avenues.
There are thousands of free AM programs out there, performance/income mainly depends on the skill of the business owner. It's not the program that generates the money, it is the skill and creativity of the entrepreneur. Therefore, a program that is "top" for one person may not necessarily be top for another one.
Lesson 9 covers Jaax, a tool that will help you uncover answers to many of your questions.

You should keep each site to within its own niche, but if they are similar you might get away with it.

So my niche is new horse owners, they come to my site because they want this information if they see posts about learning tennis they would at the very least think it was strange, and more than likely just leave.

Hope that explains a little.

Am I in the right direction?

Domain: health and wellness
Niche: "pain relief"

I plan to add blog posts

1. natural pain relievers (turmeric, black seed oil, ayurvedic oils etc, fruits, fruit powders)
2. vitamins (particularly Vit-D)
3. minerals etc

I think I will have many posts over the time. I like it and now enjoying writting. I respect your suggestions and appreciate your time in advance. Thank you.

If your niche is on pain relief (any specific pain relief you want to explore), then it's good to have that as your domain. Health and Wellness is too broad as niche.

I believe you want to help people that are looking for information and products that could help them with the pains they are having ... but there are still a lot of things you can relate to pains. See the simple research I did on Google (image)
Reply
anusuya1 Premium
Thank you very much for your time to reply. You are right, pain relief is broad and I have to focus on one. Please give me some more clarity. Here are my thoughts.

Health and wellness is the domain, not the niche, I can build other health-related websites under this domain name in the future. That is my plan.

If I write about a superfruit I have to have that fruit name domain. As I understand from your answer. I thought if the fruit is healthy I can launch under heal wellness domain.

What I understood from your answer is I buy a domain for every website I lunch.
Reply
newmarketpro Premium
My opinion.
I would try to get a domain that is directly related to my niche. It's easier to get the attention of the search engines. At a glance people knows what the site is all about.

I believe i understand what you plan to build. Think this way, if you create 'pain reliever for ________' you are more focused and it's easier to get ranked in the sub-niches like this rather than having the general broad niche like health and wellness. You only need one website to really make money. If the first site has established, you can move to create the second niche - second website.

It's still possible to create the site you described but my personal it should be focused on one theme topic from the start.

Just my opinion.

I activated the sitessl immediately up purchasing the domain and before actually creating my site, Hopefully you are right and it will resolve in time because having a site marked as insecure by browsers is not an efficient way of getting visitors.

The error I am getting is saying that the server cannot prove that it is bbqsage.com, its security certificate is from siterubix, com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.

You will want to pick your niche first, and you will learn how to monetize it later. You don't necessarily need a product right away to describe what your website is about, but rather you'll be working on creating content first. What Adreyna says is true.
Your "about me" can be what your website is about or it can be about you.
If you want it to be about your website, then you can let your readers know what you want to achieve with your website.
Who are you trying to help?
If your niche is something that you are passionate about, you can include that, or if you are experienced in the niche you chose, you can include that.
It is really about why you chose the ones you want to help.

I hope this made sense.

Kyle, I just finished lesson 9 concerning Keywords and was able to go to Jaxxy and work with the system to do some searching and understand how that site works. At the end of lesson 9 you list a number of accomplishments which have been done and they are all great. I feel that I have not done much as far as building my site and developing my website using the navigational tools that are part of the list of accomplishments. I did create the summary page about my site and went into some of my own story there. I also changed the privacy post so that it is connected to my webpage and I used the navigational tools to create the menu but I have not done anything else as far as posting other things and then using the navigational tools to develop the site for the front end user. What would you suggest to get a better understanding and better level of skill with that area? I kind of thought that the lessons would guide me into doing more posts or blogs to put on the website. Any thoughts that you think might be helpful? Thanks.

this is all new to me so i want to take advantage to see what i can learn from the starter status to see if any income will generate. if i feel i need to upgrade i will when funds allow me and things are going in a positive direction

thank you in advance for addressing my concern

HelloKaren and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
Once you upgrade, you can not go back to being a free member.

Your first 7 days is in order for you to be able to see if this is something you will be able to do.

It is sort of like a test drive. Then if you like it, you can purchase it. If you don't like it, then it didn't cost you anything.

You can remain a free member as long as you like. The countdown is just letting you know that you can get the first month for $19 if you do it before your first 7 days are up.

You aren't the only one who started this being skeptical. many of us were very skeptical.

I hope this helps you out : )

Hmm... you sound like me who like to plan out in ahead (even the circumstance breaks my plans all the times -.- )

The answer to the first issue is no. Once you upgrade to premium members, you can not go back to the starter. Even some periods, you would like to withdraw, you can stop the membership anytime (by contact Kyle and Carson)

"is it once an upgrade is made it will remain until i "quit" the program"-> it depends on which method you choose to upgrade. If you pay monthly, you should inform Carson and his team a few days ahead before the circle comes.

If you upgrade by yearly (which save some for you - $359 one-time payment for yearly), you can go back your WA profile-> account setting-> subscription setting-> membership-> click on "stop billing and cancel membership". You can apply this method to above.

As a starter, you can build two free websites with Site Rubix, and you can start to make some money from that.

However, you would not have the access to get more detail, step-by-step lessons, other tools, and most value which is the community support.

Do I misunderstand you some points?

No problem at all my friend.
If you don't upgrade, the countdown should disappear once you have been here for your first 7 days.
Although I didn't make it that far. I took the $19 upgrade discount. I figured I liked what I saw, but wanted to learn more and I could still quit and only lose $19. But I loved it and decided to stay.

I have a more technical type question. I just wrote my about me page and it said that it had duplicate content in it. But, I just sat down and wrote it myself. How do I know what I duplicated or what to change? Or since I know I wrote it myself, do I just post it anyway?

Don't worry about it - this is your about me page, and it's not a page that will affect your site SEO wise

You can also go one step further and have the page set not to be indexed by the search engines, you can do that below the editor window of your page

I noticed that at the end of your post there is no space in your signature between your name and website name.
how did you manage to do that? because SiteContent editor will consider every enter as a new paragraph and automatically puts a small plank space between them!

You can actually just delete empty space, go to the end of the document or edit it (if it is already published), and remove this space.

Hi Kyle,

Your Money Making Video started with the Customer searching for a product at Google, clicking the ensuing websites that follow and BOOM the affiliate earns. But what if you do not have in your website those products that the customer wanted in the first place? Where will our customer come from? How do we get customers to look at our website?
Reply
Zappades Premium
These are all skills you want to learn in the training here at WA.
Youn learn, how to target your audience, people you have a product they are looking for.
You learn where you find the products and how to add them to your website so you can earn a commission.
And you learn how to build your website so that it will get seen by people looking for your products.

It is a process and a lot of skills are involved but it can be done if you work hard and follow the training step by step :)

If someone is on your side and they click the link to purchase a product. For some reason they decide to close their browser and later on they were turn to buy that product but they go directly to the site they were going to purchase it from. Would you not get a commission in this instance?

Hello Jeremy;
Usually you would not, but in Amazon, if the person puts it in their basket and then comes back later to buy, you would get the commission. If they go directly to the sellers site, I really do not think you would get the sale.

The last time I joined WA, the bigger affiliate programs came with cookies that would expire after a period of time. For example, the situation that you just asked about would likely put a long-term cookie on the potential customer's computer that recognizes the affiliate who directed said customer to the seller's website, and then awards the affiliate with a commission. It all depends on the potential customer actually buying the product before the cookie expires.
Reply
Hi,

How does the commission in terms of currency? Does that reflect to which you are specifically located. So if you are in USA, the currency will be in $ but if you are a traveller and in the future you are in South Korea, will the commission change to won? I will appreciate if somebody answers this question.

Thanks
Reply
possumlane Premium
The currency you get paid in is reflective and most sites usually use US dollars. For Instance I am in Australia and on my site I quote that all products are priced in US dollars and when they purchase the facility handling the transaction usually does the exchange. If they choose to become a preferred customer, again the exchange is done by the facility making the payments or receiving the payments. Another instance is that WA deals in US dollars so being in Australia when I make my payment Visa makes the calculation and my $47 become somewhere around $63.
That is how I understand it but to clarify you could also ask Kyle

Go online and check out "Affiliates" there are literally thousands and thousands of them so there must be something among that lot that you could utlilise. The other thing to watch for is to really do your research because the commission varies markedly . I spent many hours going through affiliates when I set up my anti-ageing-phenomenon site because I wanted the biggest commission because the products I am promoting are high end and I only wanted high end affiliates that pay great commissions.

I'm having a difficult time selecting a niche. Am thinking of women's designer clothing, but then don't know how to narrow it down to something manageable.

Should I stick to categories like pants, or dresses? Should I include accessories? What about different designers? Is it a good idea to have several designers?

Thanks very much for any input. Feeling stuck already!
Reply
ThongN Premium
hmm...I have one opinion. How about the women's designer clothes for the thirties? (the main target will be women at her 30's ) Or you could narrow down a little more like new creative designer clothes for women in their thirties. Or workplace design clothes for young women? (this will target the range age from 18-30 or maybe a little older up to 40)

I'm not sure my opinion is narrow enough or not. You would have enough content to write and share with your niche in the next 6 months, so you should think more.

Good luck!
Reply
adreyna Premium
You might want to start by asking yourself a few questions...Is there a certain designer that you like more than others? If so, why? Do you prefer a specific category? What is it you want to help people do? It's probably best to stick with one designer, unless you're doing a comparison. I'm sure others will have some good ideas to share as well.

Question regarding my niche.

Should I be choosing just one focus niche now to start out?

Do most people just focus on one niche or do you eventually
expand and have multiple sites with multiples niche's?

Most people do only start with one niche and concentrate on that, eventually though you can expand into other niches. But focus on one first and see how that goes.

you ABSOLUTELY want to choose one niche and focus all of your attention on that niche and website.

It actually takes a lot of time and a lot of effort and a lot of content and a lot of learning to make one niche website profitable or getting enough quality traffic to be profitable.

When you figure out how to make the first one as successful as you want it to be — is the time to think about the next one

If you ever for some reason do decide to quit, you cannot downgrade to Starter, however you will be able to resubscribe to your Premium account at any time and reconnect your membership (when you can make it back). ;)

We also host your website for 30 days beyond the cut off date, which gives you time to still work on it or move it to another host in the meantime.

I need your suggestion

Actually, I am willing to build a website about electronics.

I want to build the website about the top product of an electronic device like a camera, TV, mobile etc.

But it is said here micro niche website is the best

Now tell me If I built the website about this my niche goes from TV to Camera, AC to Fridge etc.

Now tell me if I will make a website like this, Is it good or not
Reply
Justin4487 Premium
Would be better to keep it as a single line of products reason being if someone where to search for electronics in general the main sites would be first to pop up however if your site focuses mainly on one type of product you will have a higher chance of being the first the person that is searching for that product see's.

Example i search google for a home electronics a ton of sites are going to pop up while you will be in here somewhere its not a garantee it will be on the first page of google.

Now say i search for cameras for my computer there is going to be way less search results simply because I further enhanced my search to be very specific.

This isnt to say you cant pursue all the electronics however start small and work your way up.

Go to your WP "dashboard." (you can access this by clicking sites in the left menu then log in) On the left scroll down to settings. Then when the widow comes up click "general." You will see second from top, under your "Title" - "Just another Wordpress site". That is where you can change it to say whatever you like. Make your tag line keyword rich and relevant to your blog because it actually becomes part of your title.

Hi Adam,
It's not a matter of picking a niche that hasn't already been located - I was of this mindset when I first started - everyone's doing that is there anything left for me to promote...

However, it's all about using keywords to find your content. You will learn how to drive traffic to your site in lesson 9 using keywords so that your site appears at the top of the search engine results.

When this happens, internet users that are searching for that particular service or product using the keywords you have chosen will visit your site - as it appears at the top of the search engine results.
That's the traffic.

When you start to get traffic, there is the potential for converting this traffic into paying customers.

The training will help get your site in the top search engine result pages. .. just continue through the lessons. You will get there.

Hope this helps.
Reply
Justin4487 Premium
It doesn't matter if other sites have already been located.

As long as you create a niche you like and can talk about more then anything else as you start making content google will take notice and rank you higher in the search results as long as your content is on point and informative.

Don't make a site saying buy this simply because you want them to, build out the content to encourage the purchase of the product.

If google see's your site as a dumping ground for ads and promotions they wont rank you.

So, money and traffic will come with time just focus on making content and the rewards will follow.
Reply
LeeMcQuay Premium
Hello Adam and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
If you are trying to pick a niche that no one else has picked, I believe you will find that it is impossible.
BUT<
Just because others have chosen the same niche, doesn't mean you can't use it and be profitable from it.
You will be picking low competition keywords when you start creating content.
The keywords will be what people type into the search bar. You write quality content with captivating titles and this will be what keeps your readers interest and keeps them coming back to your site and sharing it with their friends and family or whoever. This will also create free traffic to your site.

Wishing you the best in all you do

usually, our Kyle founders and other members suggest going with Amazon, Walmart, Macy, etc. Since they are brand companies for years. If your niche doesn't have the products within Amazon, then ClickBank and other affiliate networks might have. It depends on your niche. However, be aware that some affiliate networks ask you to pay forehead before joining-> those might not legit. Affiliate program for publishers should be free to sign up, join.

Look for reviews or go on Forums and ask questions of the people who are Affiliates or know the ones not to join and any company that asks you to pay to join you run in the opposite direction.

Working thoroughly through each lesson I now got stuck right here. I can't complete all tasks. Jaaxy doesn't let me do any more searches after I did three. Everytime I try it does lower the number of searches left, which is on 23 now, but it keeps saying I need to upgrade to see the results... Would someone know how to fix this please? Thank you in advance!
Reply
MariaB4 Premium
There is no fix for this. As you are a starter member, your searches are limited. When you upgrade to premium, you will be able to perform more searches.
Reply
sim0n Premium
Thank you for your extremely quick response. I understood though that a starter would have the ability to perform 30 searches. In fact, one of the tasks in lesson 9 (course 1) is to perform at least 5 searches and on top of that actually find 5 good keywords. That's impossible so it doesn't make any sense...
Reply
MariaB4 Premium
You're welcome. I understand. You mentioned that you have 23 left, so you performed 7 searches. Are not able to continue the search? Maybe you can provide a print screen of your issue?
Reply

The last 4 searches only resulted in a green button asking me to upgrade. But when I tried again to get you a screenshot, it resumed working correctly. Maybe I did something wrong somewhere in which case I'm really sorry I bothered you!

No worries. Probably a cache issue. Glad that it's solved :)

Haha, it happened again, partially, and I wanted to attach the screenshot, jut to show what's going on. But I need Premium to be able to attach pictures :-)

Thanks for a great lesson. I'm trying to come up with good content ideas for a highly competitive niche market, and I'm going to focus more on using Jaaxy Lite exclusively for all keyword searches, with the hopes of landing on first page of search results regularly. It's a very powerful and effective tool that should be a great help for all WA members wanting to get noticed by the search engines to potentially generate regular income. Great training Kyle! Thanks again!

Okay, excellent. I had forgotten that he said in the video that some themes allow comments on pages and posts.

Mine does, and I had switched my About section to a page and published it, since pages allow font change from the theme, whereas the posts do not.

So just a heads up again for some people, if your font will not change from any settings under a post, you can change it to a page.

Although I don't know what limitations you may have to functionality or other displays of information you might need.

All my posts should be fine with the smaller font. I think. Definitely not changing the theme, though.

However, after walking away for a while, I was able to come back an' see what you were doing. Thanks for a great explanation. I have a question about affiliate links...
So say a customer searches a certain product and gets on an affiliate website and clicks the affiliate link to buy the product on Amazon. But, the customer decides they don't want to buy the product at that time after all. If later on, the customer searches for the product, knowing that they want to buy it on Amazon, and simply finds the product on Amazon without using the affiliate link the second time, does the affiliate website still earn commission on the sale? I would assume not, but I was just curious if somehow Amazon recognizes that at one point that customer used the affiliate link to reach the product. Sorry if this question is confusing but I hope someone can answer!

hello Zay and welcome to WA

If you have traffic already then the suggestion is transferring your website into WA. You can transfer your domain website outside into our WA hosting. The hosting fee is included with membership. One tip: if you upgrade to a yearly membership, you will save more. The one-time payment for a year is $359 (this includes the hosting fee, however, the fee of transfer is not -.- ). Comparing with monthly, it's $49.

Kyle has a tutorial video about transferring a domain. Or you can check this training other members:

This does seem overwhelming. I think I am beginning to understand this but I am unsure how to pick a good niche. And I know nothing about building a website and those seem so complex, and if you have more than one affiliate do you have to go to each of those websites and sign up as an affiliate! Maybe I am just getting ahead of myself.
Reply
ThongN Premium
- about building a website, just follow the basic training. Kyle will walk through the process step by step. It's easier than you thought.

- about affiliate network and relevance, we usually have to sign up two affiliates. One is a big affiliate network like Share A Sale, Click Bank. other affiliate relevances are Amazon, Walmart, Macy,etc.. (sometimes, Amazon, Macy are inside one big Affiliate network)

- pick good niche.... initial direction for you is following your interest, your passion, your experiences (life and career). Kyle has one video that tutors how to choose a niche.

If you have time, you can read this blog.

Hi, I think this is not a broad niche but actually three different niches.
Maybe the opera career and relationship parts could be combined but adding the clean eating is a bit far out I think.
I would focus on one defined niche, people can relate to. Maybe the opera career. In that niche, you can still write posts about side aspects like food and relations etc.
But to make it more easy for targeting an audience you should define a niche.

no - one website one niche

that example sounds like a post you'd do in a niche on gaming or headphones

try out a fixed niche - something that interests you and that you know about or are happy spending time researching so you can share about it in your posts

- you can experiment on a free website and change it up or down as you learn more - but that way you are progressing through the training

what you are looking for is a niche that you can produce 50-100 posts about as a start.
as time goes on you, hopefully, will find more to create articles about.
so don't go too narrow - going braoder is slightly better as you can create content about part of the niche and then move ont oanother part.
definitely keep to one niche per site as stated by everyone else.
focus on qualtiy content, you returns are gauged by your quality.

to try to prevent information overload and workload pick something you are very familiar with - this way you can concentrate on the training here.
once you have learnt that you may find that you want to do something else as your niche - that's fine, you knoow how to do it now.
you may have one site or many in the future, but conentrate on one at a time otherwise you dilute your efforts and it will take longer to achieve success.

I'm just not sure about my niche, what if people don't care, how can i write original good quality content for one or two years, I'm not a writer and not even an english native speaker... lots of doubts about all of this...
Reply
feigner Premium
does it make sense not to host your site here? you are already paying for hosting within your membership!
choose a broadish niche and break it down into smaller chunks, this way you can write as much as possible on one section before moving onto another.
you say you are not a writer, can you talk about it.if you can invest in a speech to text program- this way you are only modifying your articles. Kyle did this when he broke hos hand, an still uses it, saves a lot of time if you are not a typer as well.
it is good you have doubts and are not so confident that you have decided what you are doing and know everything.
you say english is not your native tongue - but from what you wrote i can see you having no problems, remember to keep your writing simple - don't try to appear superior to your visitors - talk the same language as they do.

use your doubts to find questions to answer and answer them through the training or through the community. use this to fuel your success.
good luck Luca.

It makes a lot of sense to not host my webstite here. Professional web hosting services like http://sitegroung.com or http://liquidweb.com are the top in the industry. They offer you a lot of good options to scale your business, you can start with shared hosting then move on to a vps then to a dedicated server etc. You can chose the operating system and configure your machine among other benefits. It gives you more power/control I think. I like to keep things in separate places, like a separate registrar for all my domains, a separate web hosting service for web hosting, a separate resource for education (like wa) etc. Don't give one company too much control over your business. Just my two cents.

in your ca\se maybe - but in most an easy optino is good, otherwise they would not start.
all you have to do now is to choose a niche and creat content and be very helpful to your audience.
you could have always started here with hosting and moved it later on - as others have.

Hmm... Luca, you are limiting yourself or setting yourself up to fail with that mental outlook.
no i am not saying you need to be super confident, but you need a mental attitude of curiosity- rather than ' i don't think i can do it' - change it to ' how can i do it ' what questions come to mind - write them down and find answers - otherwise you will fail.
You are capable of doing it- even if you have to get someone else to do it - then what you need to do is to find the money to pay them. so a question' how do i find the money to pay for this site'
but seriously - you need to change the attitude to one of curiosity, every time you think - i can't do this - ask yourself why an write down the reasons - find the answer and move onwards.

Hi AV2001,
If you upgrade to Premium, you have two options. You can pay $49 per month, every month for as long as you want to remain a member. That comes out to about $588 per year. Your second option is to pay yearly ( a one time payment once a year) for $359. If you take the yearly payment of $359 and divide by 12 months, your monthly amount comes to approximately $30 a month. That is a savings of $19 per month.

I have been here for a while, and I continue to pay the monthly of $49. I do not have the extra to pay the yearly in one lump sum. So for some of us, it is an option. I will upgrade someday when I have extra funds, but for now, I only have to worry about the $49/mo. Either way, it is still a great deal. Good luck and take care.

I have a niche, but you are also talking that we should choose a tiny one. My problem is that my niche is not so tiny - baking and decorating. I want to talk about recipes, supplies, products, techniques, etc. What is your suggestion? - Start only with one of those - like post recipes with the related productions, and keep the supplies out of this site, OR I can do all these into one site? I will really appreciate your reply. Thanks in advance

You don't have to keep the supplies off your site. You could incorporate them by creating a shopping tab that features all your favorite supplies and include affiliate links to the products. Hope this helps!

I think they all belong together and make great affiliate commission opportunities but that the real question is how you link them eg what sort of baking are you into, what is your segment of the market there eg these days there is gluten free, healthy, raw, regular, big variety and many audiences, choose your audience

Very thorough video but I’m curious if the process still works if someone clicks the link but ends up purchasing later or through another channel. For example, I myself am a huge online shopper; if I research something but then end up purchasing through the amazon app instead of the direct link 2 days later would that still count?

If I put the item in my cart but don’t buy until later does that count?

I guess I’m wonderif if these purchases get tracked through IP or cookies of something like that.

Hello Olivia;
They say if a person puts an item in their cart and saves it, takes the item before 90 days, you would get credit. But you cannot buy an item yourself, because if your name comes up or address that you gave them when signing up, does not count.

Say I am using my laptop and private browsing, I search “Car seats after infancy” and go to a website that shows a whole bunch and their ranking etc... I’m not ready to purchase just yet but I remember “maxi cosi”. A month later I type in “maxi cosi” car seat and find the cheapest price online and purchase from an online store but not through the original link.

Whoever’s website I originally found maxi cosi from wouldn’t get the commission am I right? So really what we are trying to do is get the individual who did the search to buy from your affiliate within the next 90 days from your link and not somewhere else? Or does the “interwebs” track that you went to that site and that’s where you got “maxi cosi” from like inception?

Sorry if that was long or confusing

They are tracked by the affiliate link inside the code by your affiliate number I believe. Now if you switch websites to purchase the object you were going to buy. Then someone lost the sale and someone else gained it. Does that make sense?

So excited already just by setting up the website!

To all those who have taken this path before...When is it worth upgrading to premium? (I'm sure it has a lot to offer!) But I'm talking about someone who can't afford to currently pay 200-300$ without reeally having to. So does there come a time when it is absolutely necessary? Or can one do without it until there is some kind of income from the 1 or 2websites? Thank you!!

Is there still the offer to get your first month at the reduced price. if there is, it's probably best to go for that. It was only available for the first 7 days, when I started, a few weeks ago. You're going to have to go for it sometime, so might as well get the first month cheaper. I'm unemployed at the moment but went for it and just hope I can afford to continue. But I had to give it a try and you won't get far without it. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a website making any money and for me I couldn't go anywhere without the training.

Hello Salma;
You do not have to spend 200 to 300$ right now. You can go premium for $19 the 1st month as long as you sign up within the first 7 days, after that it would cost $49 a month as you go along.
Wishing you all the best.

Yes, you probably won't get far without it. The lessons about making money come later--after the first 10 lessons; but those first initial lessons are very important and should be done BEFORE the money-making part comes in. You can technically do without it and ask LOTS of questions, but it will be incredibly difficult. I can't really afford it either, but I'm finding a way by doing odd jobs on the side.

oooh! Thanks for pointing that out Robert. I actually didn't realize that only the first 10lessons are available with the starter version till you mentioned it. hmm. Do you know if I do go for premium but run low on finances can I cancel it but still keep my website and account? Or will I just lose everything then?

Kyle, I was trying to sign up using another members link. I went through about 5 or 6 different WA members' sites and I really liked this guys approach and his history. Part of the reason I used his link is because it sounded as though he would be working with me one on one and due to my research on his site I had confidence he would be good to work with.

Take influence with how you were sold on WA and apply that to your niche. If you can help people, and you can help them make an informed decision on something, you can be VERY successful online!

That is something that we are proponents of and that we are going to teach here at WA!

I would like to create a blog that would help with obesity, depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. I personally know about having all these problems at once and have found it hard finding information on the internet about all at one time. I have spent a great deal of time learning all I can on each one of these subjects. I was wondering if this is too broad a subject or should I just focus on one or two of these things?

You are too broad as a general view. However, if you want to combine them all under an age group. I.e. obesity depression anxiety and sleep deeds orders for young mothers or menopausal women or teenage boys then it's not so bad because you are focusing around specific problems for a specific targeted group of people
