At this stage of the course you should have your website created! Congratulations, this is a big accomplishment!

Looking back to 2002 when I started my career in Online Business it took me 30 days just to figure out how to build a website. There definitely weren't any platforms like the Website platform you have access to here. What takes 30 seconds now, took 30 days back then.

How things have changed!

In this lesson we are going to be walking you through the process of the initial website set-up. This includes the removal of "default" content that is installed with every website as well as a look around of the back office of your website.

Additionally, I am also going to be walking you through the activation of your "Plugins" and be walking you through the benefits of the plugins (feature extensions) that have been installed automatically with your website.

Below is a video walk-through showing you the process of setting up your website. Click play to watch the "Setting Up Your Niche Website - The Initial Steps" video below.

Task 1: Login Into Your Website Back Office

In order to do this, you need to log into your website. This is very easy to do and can be done using the "Log In!" button (as shown below).

This will automatically show you all your users you have associated with your website and from there you can log into your website.

No more need for manual logins and the passwords within your account are encrypted and secured using SiteRubix technology!

You can also find your website login details, username, and password within the Details link on your SiteManager dashboard.

Task 2: Activate and Update Your Plugins

After you login, you will see your Wordpress administration dashboard for your website (see below).

This may look completely foreign to you if you have never logged into a WordPress website before, but don't worry, you will get the hang of this and there is a ton of help here within the community to work you through any questions/issues you may run into.

Wordpress is the most powerful and widely used website platform in the world. It is used by over 30% of ALL websites (millions) and it also has a wide range of "add ons" known as plugins that you can use extend the functionality of your website.

When you install website here at WA we pre-install three of the most useful plugins with your website automatically and your first step is going to be activating these plugins.

You will see the All in One SEO plugin, which we will be setting up in the next lesson. This is a plugin that is going to help you get found and ranked by search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo.

You will also see the Classic Editor plugin, which is already activated. This gives you access to the classic editor when you upgrade and create posts within your back office, which is preferrable (in particular when getting started) to the new and more modular editor. It is going to make your life a lot easier and it is already set up for you so you have to do nothing from you end.

Lastly, the Kraken Image Optimization plugin is going to compress and optimize all of the images on your website automatically. This is really sophisticated and advanced platform that is going to lead to better website speeds, a better user experience, and better search engine rankings. This is already set-up optimally for you.

Task 3: Delete Default Posts, Pages and Comments

Every new Wordpress website that you install will come with "default" or dummy content that is added with every website install. You want to get rid of this content before you can start creating content that is relevant to your niche.

The first thing you want to do is delete the default post that is added with each website.

Click on the Posts button, within the side menu.

This will take you to the posts page where you will go to see a list of all the posts on your website. A post is simply a content page on your site (we will be explaining them in more detail later).

Simply "mouse over" the post area and it will reveal the post management buttons. You will want to then click the "Trash" button. This will delete the default "Hello World!" post.

Do the same with the "Pages" link as well. There may be a few different Pages, including the Privacy Policy page. You can delete all of these pages as we are going to be starting fresh with our own content and starting the build out process of this in upcoming lessons.

**Do note that there may not be both default Pages and Posts. If that is the case, just move on.

That is it for this lesson, nice work! You now have a live website that is set-up and ready to go. This is your own Internet "real estate". You will use this website to connect with your niche and ultimately earn revenue through. This website is your foundation for building a successful online business!

The next lesson we are going to be showing you how to get your website ready to rank in Google and other search engines!

If you have any questions about the set up of your website, please scroll down and leave them within the comments below.

Need some help here guys with my description title is baby boomers bonus round let me help with reinventing you. Now here is my thoughts I would like to start out with a blog that addresses various issues regarding aging and boomers. I really could use ten websites. I have a psyche degree and aging was my focus. For right now though I want to focus on my Mary Kay cosmetics and their great skin care line as well as satin hands and their whole line of products. By writing a blog that will have a link to my website. Once I have that up and rolling I will venture out to affilate marking. Vitamins, music, dancing, ideas for vacation, endless possibilities. My mind is so full of ideas. I plan on signing up for the pro on the 3rd.

Hi Laurie,

I am not sure what you are calling a “Description Title” and what is “Baby Boomers bonus round let me help with reinventing you”.

If that “Baby…” is your domain name I think that would be way too long for people to easily remember.

You want to narrow down your niche to one single aspect and focus on that, the reason being the more narrowed down your niche is the easier it will be for your material to get ranked (less competition than a wide niche such as “Baby Boomers”

Try reading this blog by Boomer08 I think it might really help you in your decision of narrowing down to a specific and concentrated niche:

Here are the search results of four different niche ideas:

1. Baby Boomers - About 24,700,000 results (0.66 seconds)
2. Baby Boomers that have retired - About 38,500,000 results (0.46 seconds)
3. Baby Boomers about to retire - About 2,280,000 results (0.57 seconds)
4. Baby Boomers that can’t afford to retire - About 9,520,000 results (0.65 seconds)

Since number 3 has the least competition only 2.2 mil results it will be much easier for a new website owner to get top SERPs (explained in the training) in that niche.

I would strongly suggest that you start out with only one niche and one website: you can always branch out or expand that niche later if you want to. The reason is that most people do not know how much time is involved in running a niche based website. Or what the competition is that they will be facing in their niche.

So, if you concentrate on a narrowed-down niche it will be easier for you to get ranked on page one (increasing your potential of making money online). Page one, the first listing of any search inquiry gets roughly 80% of all traffic generated from that keyword. Aiming for the top SERP will greatly increase your odds of making money from your website.

I hope that this helped explained the concept of a narrowed-down niche and why it is suggested for beginners, better for you!

Quick question
I like to go back and check that I entered the information correctly to setting up my website only because I apparently had another account open and there was some confusion about being a premium member and I had also came with another Niche so was thinking of changing it. or to create another in addition to my Hiking one, has anyone experienced anything similar help please.

You can't really put in wrong information as all you put in is the name for the domain. So if the domain name is correct then your fine. You can have up to 10 siterubix sites as a premium member, so you can have 10 different niches on the free websites.

I am choosing my niche I’m kinda debating between baby car seats and strollers ( I have a 3 year old ) and I know how big a market it is. I’m also really into tech. So i though maybe smartphone accessories. Any feedback or suggestions? I know I can do 1 now and 1 later. What would be a better first pick?

Thank you

Hi - remember, you will be expected to write lots of content on your chosen niche to attract visitors to your website. Think about your ideas and consider which of them you can immediately think of topics to write about for your first 10 articles.

I am currently working on the Affiliate Marketing as my niche
But I haven't got any income from that yet
So I was quite guilty when writing a blog
Because I don’t really know this field

although I saw it from a Youtuber
he said don't pick "cheap" niche (e.g. Books)
cos you don't earn much from it

Just wonder what is everybody's niche?

Perhaps below explanation will help you more. Please keep in mind you would need write at least 15 quality rich content posts with good choice of keywords and have some traffic before you apply for an affiliate program.

A niche is something you are passionate about and would write 100 articles or so about it, could be a hobby, an interest perhaps. To put it in perspective, would you be writing about it in five years time.

Via Kyle:
A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?
When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:
I want to help people that ______________.
Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

If you can get high volume sales of a low priced item then it is as good as low sales of a high priced item. Many businesses have made a bomb on stack them high and sell them cheap.

Hello Kyle,

I join Wealthy Affiliate over around 11 months ago and love the training that is available to eveyone!!! I am currently working a full time job from home, that has been extreemly demanding, and time consuming. I have a question that I would like to run by you.

I would like to know if there are subcribers or partners with in Wealthy Affiliate that will accept payment to assist me with the build out of a basic Website and sales funnels for a fee? I am willing to pay to have my Website and funnel created. The reason that I am asking is that, I need to try and be up and running by the middle of next month, and I have a serious learning curve that would take me too long to learn, and meet my deadline. I would be so appreciative if you could make a recommendation of a couple developers online or anyone that could help me out reach my deadline.

In the meantime, I would continue to review the materials online and will follow steps to learn to create my own sites.

I would be so appreciative to you for your assitance with this matter.

With Respect,
Malcolm

Hi, I understand what you are going through.
I'm sure there are members here within WA that can assist you in this matter.

I'd suggest you to type within the research bar at the top, where it says: Need help...

Search for Dianescorpio. or Chrystopher...

This are just two members here who can maybe direct you.

Hi Malcolm,

The WA platform is a spam-free and private solicitation (considered as spam here) free zone. What you are asking, is prohibited here!

Here is a link to the rules: My suggestion is to delete this comment before it gets you a write ban. A write ban, is where you cannot submit anything on the WA platform for other members to read. During a write ban, you still have access to your website, but you will not be able to post any comments anywhere within the WA platform.

This is not how this platform is to be used and the co-founders frown on those that use it improperly. You can find help by contacting individuals through a Private Message.

Many of the premium members here will offer you what you are asking for, for FREE. However, there are those with no scruples that would welcome the chance to charge you a fee to do what some might be willing to do for FREE.

This website is not designed for other members to do your work for you; even if you offer to pay them to do so.

Additionally, you are not allowed to provide outside of WA contact information here!

Please read the rules and abide by them: this will help prevent you from getting banned from WA

Just trying to inform you, that want you did here is completely against the rules.
