Today is going to your first introduction to proper organization on your website. One thing that we always need to remember is that we are building our websites for PEOPLE, and our visitors and how someone would view our content and our navigation is what should dictate how we present our content.

In other words, if your website is difficult to navigate, people simply won't. The may read your content, and then just move onto another website. You can increase your website "page views" and overall website revenue if you understand proper navigiation

Introducing "Custom" Menus in Wordpress.

The default Wordpress menus work in very strange ways and can be quite awkward. Typically when you add a page, it automatically goes to the main menu. A post, will go to the homepage blog roll (not the main menu).

As a website owner, you want FULL control of your navigation as your theme by default won't do a very good job of this. Fortunately, it is quite straightforward to create Custom Menus.

Navigation is going to be a critical element to your user experience moving forward and will impact your rankings (as Google ranks sites with proper navigation better), so this is an important step here.

I have created a"Creating Custom Menus, Navigation, & Widgets" video walking you through the process of creating custom menus. You can check it out below.

Task 1: Create a Menu

There are a few simple steps to creating a custom menu. The first thing you need to understand is where to find the Menu management section within your Wordpress admin area.

Under the Appearance, click the Menus sub heading.

This will take you to the custom menu creator.

Under the left tab, you are going to see a Posts section. Posts are not added to your navigation by default, so you are going to need to click the Posts tab and it will show a list of your Posts.

In this case, we have only create the About Me post. Click the check box associated with that, and then click the Add to Menu.

**Note: Most themes by default will add Pages to the top menu, but if you don't see your Privacy Policy within the Menu Structure section, you will need to add that.

Your About Me page has now been added to your menu structure (as shown below).

Once added to your Menu Structure, you can reorganize your menu in any way you like by dragging and dropping them. In this case, I am going to add my About Kyle post above the Privacy Policy, which is going to put it to the "left" of this within the live menu on my website. So in essence, I am ordering my pages here.

Upon completing my menu order, click the "Create Menu" button and you will establish your new menu.

After you have done this, you are going to want to add your newly created menu to your website, to override the Main Menu on your site. You are going to see a new tab created after you have created your new menu called "Manage Locations".

You will want to click this tab, and then under the "Main Menu" item you are going to choose the menu you just created, in this case it is called "Main Menu". After doing that click Save Changes. You are set!

For example purposes, here is what my live website looks like with my newly updated menu.

You can see the order of the menu items and that my "About Kyle" post comes before the "Privacy Policy" post.

And we are done. It is as simple as that and as we continue to build out our website, we are going to be reorganizing our websites regularly, managing this menu and likely creating "sub menus" which we will be getting into later as we have more content on our websites.

Nice work thus far!

Hi,

I'm a bit confused about choosing a niche and choosing products to promote within my niche.
If one of my passion is "sea stones" for instance, will I ever find profitable products to promote within this niche, or will I have to adapt to niches that are more fashionable or more valuable in terms of profit ?
( because it's true that the passion is important, but is also true that my aim is the ROI, so If I'll have to invest a lot of time and being not properly rewarded one day, I'd like work on other niches regardless of the passion )

I hope someone can assist me with my query

Thank you

Hi

It is more about being passionate vs profitable. Because then you can give value and original content what drives traffic to your site. If you go for the ROI, and for some reason you are not focused when the road gets tough you'd lose both ways IMO.

You can do a google search
Your niche + affiliate programs
Your niche + affiliate programs + location
and see what results you get

Further info:

A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

For example if you are in yoga
Yoga exercises for beginners

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

See example blog post below Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

Apologies if not the answer you were looking for? However, If I do not enjoy my niche how would I excel at it. What strategies I have in my arsenal to help me focus when the road gets tough, it is about value vs proceeds, when you give your visitors value in the beginning, the money will follow.

Ok. Here are some things to help you choose a niche.

A niche is something you feel super excited to write about, a skill you have attained, something that resonates with you. You will want to be focused on one niche. What is it that you want to help a group of people with or what problem do you want to help them solve (group could be age, gender, location, experience level, degree or type of need, etc.)

How To Find Your Passion If have no niche ideas here are some things to think about How to Become An Expert in Any Niche Why should you narrow your niche?
The key to getting started fast is to narrow your niche down to a specific topic. This way, you will eliminate a lot of competition and get results much faster.

Hi Brian, congrats on setting up your second site...
if you goto settings>>general then you get access to your meta site title.....
and when you goto your all in one seo>>search appearance
you can add the +site title tag to the site title box...this means whenever you change the site title it is updates automatically on all of your meta data...
if you have set your home page to a static page then you will need to edit the home page seo settings to add hte meta data...

unless you can give us a screen shot of the other errors it is difficult ot try and diagnose them...

i hope you get it sorted

The AIOSEO fields pre populate in a post or page.
You can remove the prepopulated title by placing cursor to right of it and hitting back key or delete key or on mobile hit any key. Fields will be blank then you need to enter content based on your post keyword phrase.

so as i am going thru the process, the domain that you offer, The domain ending piece, that is free in starter and included in premium package if you decide to buy your own it is $15 per domain a year. so if i choose to buy premium is a year subscribtion or is it monthly. ONE more question if i can, my niche is quest products mainly the bars can i have the word quest in my domain name
Reply
JoeRebisz Premium
The cost of the domain, if you purchase here is $13.99/year. The monthly fee for premium is $19 for the first month (discounted) then automatic recurring payments of $49/month after that, unless you join yearly which is $495/yr which is also a bargain. Yes, you can use the word quest in your domain name as long as it's not a brand name.

ok it is yearly subscribtion just for my info now is the domain that wealthy affilates offer is that included cost in the premium packet $49.99 for each website and it cost me $13.95 a year if i buy my own like .com .net etc.
Reply
JoeRebisz Premium
It's $13.99 if you buy your own, if you go premium yearly, you get credits to use to purchase on domain...........and better to purchase .com vs .net or .org
Reply

sorry for all the questions so the one that wealthy affliates have us use for starter is just for the beginners who have first site

It is a free subdomain owned by WA to get you started. Once you have purchased your own domain, you can move all of your content from the free siterubix over to your new website with one click of a button, so easy. And don't apologize for asking questions, that's what we're here for :)

Hi

Starting out with a free siterubix subdomain, you can purchase your dot com at any time, however hosting is included in your premium subscription to the platform.

You can start building content on your siterubix subdomain, till you decide when to become a premium and can later transfer your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within your site manager; it is an easy process.

For the first seven days you can test drive platform full premium access to see if it fits with your business needs and objectives.

As and when you decide to become a Premium, your first month would be $19 then $49 monthly afterwards until you cancel

Or $49 first month then $99 monthly afterwards for premium plus + tier subscribers.

More info in regards how to choose a domain name includes

You can use Namemesh dot com - look in SEO & MIX columns

You can also use leandomainsearch dot com, you input a word and it gives you another

And godaddy valuation tool to find a memorable name.

However nowadays domains are not so affected by SEO vs writing quality rich content with good choice of keywords, latter of which would rank you in the search engines.

I would always go for a dot com domain name vs dot net or dot org as people's perceptions when they start typing they would typically assume it is a dot com.

I would not include dashes and check if the domain is copyrighted, trademarked and ' or registered to an established business.

Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

You may also sign up to Amazon US however you still have to satisfy sales quotas for each as they are independent.
