We are now getting into the FUN stuff! Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO!

You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it. Our goal is to get ranked in the BIG 3 engines, Google, Bing & Yahoo.

Do note that our focus is going to be primarily on Google though as they own over 70% of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.

But why do you want rankings in the search engines? Simple...

Website Rankings = Targeted Traffic = Revenue!

The rankings are the first step in creating an online revenue stream.

Today we are going to walk you through the set-up of a Wordpress plugin that is going to do a lot of the "dirty work" for you and will take care of the optimization of all your website pages/posts, meta tags, and other aspects that search engines look for when ranking your site.

I have created a "Setting Your Website Up for Search Engines" video walk-through of this training and please follow along as it will add a lot of clarity to how SEO works, but also how to install the All in One SEO plugin.

Task 1: Set-up All in One SEO on your site

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very important aspect of any website's success.

In this task we are going to be setting up a plugin that makes our website code (the stuff behind the scenes of our website) friendly for search engines like Google so they can index and rank our sites properly. This is going to be very powerful for your website content getting ranked in search engines going forward, so DO NOT skip this task.

Since you activated the All in One SEO within the last lesson, you should see the "All in One SEO" item with your main menu now in your Wordpress back office. If you mouse over that menu icon, a sub menu will pop out (see below).

Simply click the "General Settings" link. This is where you will be going to set-up your SEO settings for your website.

The main section you are going to be updating here is the Home Page Settings section. There are two sections that you will be updating there:

  • Home Title - This is the title of your website that will show up when you get ranked in Google and other search engines. This won't actually show up on your site.

You want this to reflect the actual title of your website that you created with your site, but also add something to make it a bit more captivating.

Ideal Length: 40-60 characters, keep under 60
  • Home Description - This is a description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people. Don't overthink this part, you just want to be descriptive as to what your site is.

    Ideal Length: Under 160 characters

Although there are a TON of other settings, you are not going to need to update any of these at the moment, not for SEO purposes.

When you are done updating your Home Page Settings, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Save Changes" button.

Upon doing this, you are done. Your website is set-up and SEO READY! :)

A few important points things to take note of here about All in One SEO:

  • You DO NOT need to "Upgrade to Pro". The free version is more than adequate for your needs.
  • You won't see these changes to your actual site. The work is done behind the scenes within your websites HTML code. It is making your code friendly for search engines.

Awesome, your website is all set-up for SEO now! As you build out your new pages/posts, they will automatically be optimized for Google and other search engines. If you have any questions about the set-up process, leave them in the comments below and we will give you a hand.

In the next lesson we are going to be discussing KEYWORDS, the root of all of your rankings, traffic and success online.

Hello Kyle, I just finished publishing both my content and privacy policy, I followed your video to the letter, but they look so different.. Yours looks in a webpage in progress, and mine looks like a word perfect page.. My font is much bigger than yours, my web name is much smaller than yours, on the right hand side I do not have the same column listings, yet on my policy page I have comments etc..What did I do wrong.. Cant figure it out...
Thanks.

Hi this may change with themes, styles however the functionalities are same.

A privacy policy is a static page vs post and it goes in your primary menu via Appearance > Menus.

Font size, color, sidebars are set up in WP back office -'> appearance -> customize. Each them is different in the degree of flexibility they offer to modify various features. You could check your themes documentation to get a feel for what you can do with your theme.

Hello all,

Relatively new to the lessons, but I see a lot of talk about niche marketing. I am wondering, given the current situation with the pandemic still affecting most of the world, is there not a place for emphasis on more essential items to be sold online, like essential food and groceries, etc.?

I am asking this, especially since this is the experience at least I know of, that people's niche tastes have evaporated while they concentrate on more survival related basic items, even while they must order these often online.

Thanks.

Hi
A niche is anything that are you passionate about. It can be anything that you are interested in.

You can start this by writing down all the things that you are interested in on a paper on as a list on your laptop.

Look at your list and ask yourself

Are there any one of these that I love to talk about more than anything else?

Can I use this and write about all that I know to help people?

After you do this, if you have any more questions, ask me and I will help you.

Hello,

This I can do, but there is the issue of whether my passion corresponds to something marketable to the larger worldwide online audience, especially in these troubling economic times. (by the way, I am looking into online marketing in large part because I lost my regular job and do need a reliable source of income which I haven't found yet through job searches, so let me know what a good meeting point between passions and marketable business can be).

Thanks.

You need to have passion to make your business marketable
If your audience is searching for what you have to offer then you will have traffic to your website.

You can get some idea of market need by typing niche iceas into Google and see if ADs are present at the top.

Also you can check in out at trends.google.com
And to see if there are affiliate programs for it
do a google your niche name + affiliate program + (optional location)

Maybe home survival kit or something is interesting to you.

I have found that although we are in a pandemic people still have money to follow their passions. Here in the UK a lot of people have been on furlough and haven't had the expense of traveling to work yet are still being paid. As Tony Robbins says its possible to make lots of money even in the downturn. (I'm paraphrasing)

Hi

A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

One niche, a website.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/

Examples would be Hiking gear for beginners, Precision watches for skydivers etc.

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

Hi, at what point will I now talk about my site in detail and actually offer my help to my niche, who are football fans who are looking for fixtures that will update their next match dates and venues? Eg if Chelsea play Manchester utd next weekend how will I post that?

You can now write your post in site content and post it to your website.
You can talk about your content in detail

Mine is more of a live situation, do I just do research and write on the games that will be played probably next weekend? Or how do I go about it? My domain is English premier League fixtures

You can do
But what if you do not get any traffic by now and next week?
Will you writing about your thoughts before the games are played or after the games are played.

We were taught that our content should be evergreen, meaning, even long afterwards, visitors should still be looking for help in whatever topic that we are writing about
Can you say that this is the case for you?

You need to start writing posts and give this information immediately. That's what it is all about.

Hi those are products vs a niche subject focused towards an audience, in this example they are football fans. Or these are like match notices vs niche subject. Please see below how to arrive at a subject that best resonates with football fans.

If dot com domain, I would create a webmail or forward to a mailbox

If siterubix then you cannot create a webmail, you'll have to go with your private email.

Hi all! I am struggling with my niche. I have lots of ideas floating around and can't seem to find a niche that I can pin point or see as being profitable. One of my ideas that has stuck is "working from home", so organisation, productivity, ergonomic equipment, Office Feng Shui etc. Does any one have any advice on whether they think this would be a good topic or does it need to be more specific?

Hi

I choose with what resonates most with me.

You can consult with http://answersocrates.com/ to find a ONE niche subcategory starting out. As soon as site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale

Essentially you are writing more informational posts and if there’s a solution, a review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue. We highly recommend to focus on ONE niche starting out.

I think this is an excellent niche. Especially now with the pandemic and a lot of people working from home. Keep in mind that you will be writing a lot of content so if you have a lot to say about that topic, then this is a great choice for you.
When it comes to being profitable, I know this is not what you want to hear but I wouldn't worry about that at this stage. Every niche can be profitable if you have a quality website and traffic.
The key is to start building quality content and start getting indexed in google.
Also, as you go through the lessons, and work on your website, a plan will start formulating in your mind as to how you can make money.
I have been here for almost a month. Only now, when I almost finished the training, started seeing a plan in my mind how this can work for me financially.
I hope this helps.
Here's a great motivational quick blog post from Kyle. Good Luck!!

I like it ....

There's a lot to talk about on this subject as well as products you can promote.

Just like you said ergonomic equipment etc...

Since I'm in Health and Fitness naturally I think about all the aspects of "Working from home and what that entails" from a health perspective but I think its a good one..Feng Shui alone is a Niche.

There's so many people working from home now the possibilities are endless of things to talk about.

Best!!

Yes there is a lot to talk about. But in the lesson it say to make your niche specific. So, would I need to choose just one branch from the whole of the "work from home " niche - like you have said above that "feng shui" is a niche.Or can I talk about the different bits as I have stated above as there are quite a few branches to take from it?
