We are now getting into the FUN stuff! Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO!
You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it. Our goal is to get ranked in the BIG 3 engines, Google, Bing & Yahoo.
Do note that our focus is going to be primarily on Google though as they own over 85% of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.
But why do you want rankings in the search engines? Simple...
Website Rankings = Targeted Traffic = Revenue!
The rankings are the first step in creating an online revenue stream.
Today we are going to walk you through the set-up of a Wordpress plugin that is going to do a lot of the "dirty work" for you and will take care of the optimization of all your website pages/posts, meta tags, and other aspects that search engines look for when ranking your site.
I have created a "Setting Your Website Up for Search Engines" video walk-through of this training and please follow along as it will add a lot of clarity to how SEO works, but also how to install the The SEO Framework plugin.
Task 1: Set-up The SEO Framework on your site
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very important aspect of any website's success.
In this task we are going to be setting up a plugin that makes our website code (the stuff behind the scenes of our website) friendly for search engines like Google so they can index and rank our sites properly. This is going to be very powerful for your website content getting ranked in search engines going forward, so DO NOT skip this task.
Since you activated the The SEO Framework within the last lesson, you should see the "SEO" item with your main menu now in your Wordpress back office. If you click on that menu icon, it will open up the plugin settings.
This is where you will be going to set-up your SEO settings for your website.
The main "Layout" section you are going to be updating here is the Homepage Settings section. There are two sections that you will be updating there:
- Home Title - This is the title of your website that will show up when you get ranked in Google and other search engines. This won't actually show up on your site.
You want this to reflect the actual title of your website that you created with your site, but also add something to make it a bit more captivating.
Ideal Length: 40-60 characters, keep under 60 - Home Description - This is a description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people. Don't overthink this part, you just want to be descriptive as to what your site is.
Ideal Length: Under 160 characters
Although there are a TON of other settings, you are not going to need to update any of these at the moment, not for SEO purposes.
When you are done updating your Homepage Settings, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Save Settings" button.
Upon doing this, you are done. Your website is set-up and SEO READY! :)
A few important points things to take note of here about The SEO Framework:
- You DO NOT need to "Upgrade". The free version is more than adequate for your needs.
- You won't see these changes to your actual site. The work is done behind the scenes within your websites HTML code. It is making your code friendly for search engines.
Awesome, your website is all set-up for SEO now! As you build out your new pages/posts, they will automatically be optimized for Google and other search engines. If you have any questions about the set-up process, leave them in the comments below and we will give you a hand.

So that means if we not upgrade to Premium we can not ask questions anymore ? That's not how you promoted WA in my opinion. maybe time to look out to another product... the more i am still waiting since 1.5 day for a solution for my problem that i described several times here...

You could remain a Wealthy Affiliate starter indefinitely and your siterubix subdomain remains valid for six months from day signing up to the platform, giving you time to build content.
However the learning curve would be steeper as communications with the Wealthy Affiliate platform ceases up in 7 days from time signing up, you will not have access to coaching and sound advice.

One of the goals questions is, How much time am I willing to invest? I know the time I have after my regular job and side business, but I'm curious... for those who have been at this for awhile, How much time did you invest initially? Especially asking those who had full-time jobs, kids, or other obligations.

Thanks for your honest answer. Great article, too! I've really committed to working on my mindset around business and I am committed to my success.
I have an advantage in that I've built up an Etsy store and have some idea of what it takes to earn regular income online, albeit on a different platform. While it took me a few years (actually about 3 months of consistent, dedicated work of about 20 hours per week, once I got some coaching), I loved it because I was passionate about it. Still do!
I can definitely see how choosing a niche I'm passionate about -- in my case, spirituality (broadly, which has a ton of different subcategories and items I could potentially niche) -- can make a huge difference in taking affiliate marketing from unenthusiastic work to dedicated effort on something that I love to do!

Personally it's what time can you put in. If your working on a blog ask yourself what days and what time will work for me to complete a blog on a weekly basis. Plan it all out and then commit to it.

Each individual situation is different and there is no average. The key is to decide with your schedule what works for you. Only an hour a day will take a long time to accomplish much.
We started with a full time job too, but our circumstances were different from yours...We just knew that unless we put at least 3 hours a day in, we wouldn't get far. But everyone is different. So it is important to decide what is possible for you.

Hi. I think I've got it wrong but I searched for companies running affiliate programs and found about 20 good ones here in South Africa where I live.
1) When my program is up and running should I link up to their program or just add them to my website?
2) Can I find a niche market by clicking on "Pharmacies" as the health care facilities/hospitals here are not always accessible?

When your site has content posts on it and is getting traffic, then you can think about affiliate links. To get affiliate links,, one must sign up to an aff9liate program. Sign up is free, but they program will want to look at your website so make sure it has content on it. No set number of 15 - 20 is good.)
As for your question regarding pharmacies, do you have medical credentials? To grow a website in such a niche without medical credentials, it will not rank well. .
You niche website will be global so anyone in the world can view it.

It's all a step by step process and you just need to follow the lessons/tasks without trying to jump ahead too quickly. It's like baking a cake in the oven, you need to buy the ingredients and follow the recipe step by step; you can't jump ahead and want to eat the cake right after you've mixed the ingredients... they need to be blended together and then baked in the oven for the right amount of time before it is ready to eat.
I know that you can do this, Rana. I look forward to your progress.

Each training lesson builds on the prior one so it is important to do each one in order.
The way to learn the online process is to complete the Online Entrepreneur Training which is a self-managed program. You can do it at your pace. After you finish each task make sure to check mark the box in front of the task.
