We are now getting into the FUN stuff! Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO!

You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it. Our goal is to get ranked in the BIG 3 engines, Google, Bing & Yahoo.

Do note that our focus is going to be primarily on Google though as they own over 85% of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.

But why do you want rankings in the search engines? Simple...

Website Rankings = Targeted Traffic = Revenue!

The rankings are the first step in creating an online revenue stream.

Today we are going to walk you through the set-up of a Wordpress plugin that is going to do a lot of the "dirty work" for you and will take care of the optimization of all your website pages/posts, meta tags, and other aspects that search engines look for when ranking your site.

I have created a "Setting Your Website Up for Search Engines" video walk-through of this training and please follow along as it will add a lot of clarity to how SEO works, but also how to install the The SEO Framework plugin.

Task 1: Set-up The SEO Framework on your site

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very important aspect of any website's success.

In this task we are going to be setting up a plugin that makes our website code (the stuff behind the scenes of our website) friendly for search engines like Google so they can index and rank our sites properly. This is going to be very powerful for your website content getting ranked in search engines going forward, so DO NOT skip this task.

Since you activated the The SEO Framework within the last lesson, you should see the "SEO" item with your main menu now in your Wordpress back office. If you click on that menu icon, it will open up the plugin settings.

This is where you will be going to set-up your SEO settings for your website.

The main "Layout" section you are going to be updating here is the Homepage Settings section. There are two sections that you will be updating there:

  • Home Title - This is the title of your website that will show up when you get ranked in Google and other search engines. This won't actually show up on your site.

You want this to reflect the actual title of your website that you created with your site, but also add something to make it a bit more captivating.

Ideal Length: 40-60 characters, keep under 60
  • Home Description - This is a description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people. Don't overthink this part, you just want to be descriptive as to what your site is.

    Ideal Length: Under 160 characters

Although there are a TON of other settings, you are not going to need to update any of these at the moment, not for SEO purposes.

When you are done updating your Homepage Settings, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Save Settings" button.

Upon doing this, you are done. Your website is set-up and SEO READY! :)

A few important points things to take note of here about The SEO Framework:

  • You DO NOT need to "Upgrade". The free version is more than adequate for your needs.
  • You won't see these changes to your actual site. The work is done behind the scenes within your websites HTML code. It is making your code friendly for search engines.

Awesome, your website is all set-up for SEO now! As you build out your new pages/posts, they will automatically be optimized for Google and other search engines. If you have any questions about the set-up process, leave them in the comments below and we will give you a hand.

In the next lesson we are going to be discussing KEYWORDS, the root of all of your rankings, traffic and success online.

Hello Kyle or anyone else willing to help. I am a recent new member of this program, and I plan on purchasing the premium program in a little while, after I explore some more around here and ensure that this is for me.
Before that, I just want to ask you for some insight into the niche I have chosen. Since I am training as a deck cadet on board a ship to become an officer, I was thinking of making marine equipment/accessories for pleasure boating my niche. Is this niche acceptable? Is it too broad, or should I narrow it down to things like marine radars, parts, GPS, etc.
Thank you in advance for your help, I hope to learn a lot from this program and further my progress with the help of you as well as the other members.

Nice niche idea here. So the way to get a better handle on how to proceed, pic a targeted audience you wish to help and determine how you wish to help them. A great way to get traffic is to think of niche related problems and questions people have. And then write content to help them. Answersocrates.com is a site you can get questions from. This will help you to see the types of inte4rets people And how you could narrow and focus your niche. A niche is much more that products. It is helping people solve their problems and recommending solutions which are many times products.

You will be writing posts for people to read on your website - who would be the audience you wish to write for and help? You will be writing both informational posts and product reviews. Your informational posts are important to grow your traffic.

A niche should be for a targeted group of people How to narrow a niche down How To Expand Your niche later We wish you well.

Welcome Kober to WA ye I believe you are on the right track, you do what your expertise is. It's your knowledge, your talent, your experience that will help you with building up your content.
In otherwords, you will need to provide your public with eye catching interesting, information on you choice of niche.
You can have your own take on this, like a personal account on 'how to' and 'what to do' to become an officer. Explore this by taking relevant photos your own images, videos etc.
Easy, hey you can ride the waves so to speak!
By following training if you decide to go premium it will be come more clearer.
You can have sections, within sections. As an affiliate you can promote anything to do with your subject, when you choose the appropriate programs that tie in with your niche.
That's my take on this, plan how and what you want your website to be. Checkout similar websites and see what the competition is like, then you can do your spin on it.
Hope that helps a bit.
Sounds great though, good luck with it all and enjoy the process! 👍 😀

Firstly as a niche is not a product vs a subject you would help people by giving them advice on an aspect, walk them through your journey and then promote products however relevant.

You ought to discuss an aspect of marine to a qualified group of people who would be your target audience.

Marine technology and for beginners as an example.

The more focused a niche website is starting out, the better chance it has to start having traction and traffic.

Please be aware you also need to create lots of content addressing issues related to your focused niche website.

Most important is to be passionate and genuinely interested in your niche

I know everyone is going to be reading my question. I am grateful for being here and this is an amazing opportunity. As I have mentioned before, I already started my own blogging website and I love to have a team to help guide me through the training I am missing and need. I know the money I spend on my own website and other things I paid to get it going? Does the monthly payment include everything I need here? I don't want to switch everything here and lose it? I see here after so many months I can do my own tutorial videos and everything which is awesome to gain income, something I been trying on my own but I been having trouble getting there with no team. I guess I just need to be insured this is the right thing for me

Here's what your paid Premium membership costs:
First month $19 (discounted) thereafter the cost is $49 per month or $499 for one year. Every year WA has had a Back Friday special which offers Paid Premium membership for $299 for a year. Once you get the Black Friday special your yearly cost will always be that price which is a big savings..

Paid Premium membership includes hosting for 10 websites. The purchase of a domain name for the sites is your cost at $14.99 for one year for each one you buy.

You can use free WordPress themes and Free plugins. and it si free to sign up for an affiliate program.

You can be successful with only your WA paid premium membership and purchasing domain names. That is very doable.
The challenge will be to search on the internet and think there is something better and buy things you don't need.

Hi, I have two main ideas for my niche. Either earphones (Airpods, Bose ear buds, Low budget ear pods etc) or golf clothing & accessories. I'm just wondering which one sounds like a better idea.

I am passionate about both golf and music, but am not an expert on what golf clothing is best or what different types of earphones are best for their specific fields.

Firstly as a niche is not a product vs a subject you would help people by giving them advice on an aspect, walk them through your journey and then promote products however relevant.

You need aim for ONE focused niche with a specific group of people, I'd go with what's best resonates with me.

You ought to discuss an aspect of music or golf to a qualified group of people who would be your target audience.

The more focused a niche website is starting out, the better chance it has to start having traction and traffic.

Please be aware you also need to create lots of content addressing issues related to your focused niche website.

Most important is to be passionate and genuinely interested in your niche The recommendation is to focus on ONE site starting out as it takes lots of effort and work get it going, however once you know what you are doing, then the learning curve would be less steeper to scale up.

You will be writing a lot of content to grow traffic on your site. The content will include both informational (how to, what is, why, guides ) and product reviews. Which one would you feel most comfortable writing content to help people with? Which one do you know problems about and know how to solve? People use the internet for find help and solve problems. You can sue answersocrates.com to find questions people may ask about your niche idea.

A niche should be for a targeted group of people How to narrow a niche down How To Expand Your niche later Your website must be more than just products because then you would just be yet another shop among the millions already out there and Google would not rank your site high enough to be found.

You could run with that, adjust and adapt down the line if need be. You may start off with a subcategory, and once totally exhausted move on to discuss another, so on and so forth.

Yes, that sounds like a great narrowed niche. And the best part is you are passionate about it, have experience and can speak from the heart. To start your site you will want to create informational posts to grow traffic. Resource you can use to find questions people may have: answersocrates.com. Posts are a great way to answer those questions.

I decided to narrow it down even more to resistance bands that's still going to help people who have either just started or fallen off and want to get started again, then I'll add more as time goes on and I gain trust. Thank you I'm so excited!
