We are now getting into the FUN stuff! Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO!

You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it. Our goal is to get ranked in the BIG 3 engines, Google, Bing & Yahoo.

Do note that our focus is going to be primarily on Google though as they own over 70% of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.

But why do you want rankings in the search engines? Simple...

Website Rankings = Targeted Traffic = Revenue!

The rankings are the first step in creating an online revenue stream.

Today we are going to walk you through the set-up of a Wordpress plugin that is going to do a lot of the "dirty work" for you and will take care of the optimization of all your website pages/posts, meta tags, and other aspects that search engines look for when ranking your site.

I have created a "Setting Your Website Up for Search Engines" video walk-through of this training and please follow along as it will add a lot of clarity to how SEO works, but also how to install the All in One SEO plugin.

Task 1: Set-up All in One SEO on your site

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very important aspect of any website's success.

In this task we are going to be setting up a plugin that makes our website code (the stuff behind the scenes of our website) friendly for search engines like Google so they can index and rank our sites properly. This is going to be very powerful for your website content getting ranked in search engines going forward, so DO NOT skip this task.

Since you activated the All in One SEO within the last lesson, you should see the "All in One SEO" item with your main menu now in your Wordpress back office. If you mouse over that menu icon, a sub menu will pop out (see below).

Simply click the "General Settings" link. This is where you will be going to set-up your SEO settings for your website.

The main section you are going to be updating here is the Home Page Settings section. There are two sections that you will be updating there:

  • Home Title - This is the title of your website that will show up when you get ranked in Google and other search engines. This won't actually show up on your site.

You want this to reflect the actual title of your website that you created with your site, but also add something to make it a bit more captivating.

Ideal Length: 40-60 characters, keep under 60
  • Home Description - This is a description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people. Don't overthink this part, you just want to be descriptive as to what your site is.

    Ideal Length: Under 160 characters

Although there are a TON of other settings, you are not going to need to update any of these at the moment, not for SEO purposes.

When you are done updating your Home Page Settings, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Update Options" button (as shown below).

Upon doing this, you are done. Your website is set-up and SEO READY! :)

A few important points things to take note of here about All in One SEO:

  • You DO NOT need to "Upgrade to Pro". The free version is more than adequate for your needs.
  • You won't see these changes to your actual site. The work is done behind the scenes within your websites HTML code. It is making your code friendly for search engines.

Awesome, your website is all set-up for SEO now! As you build out your new pages/posts, they will automatically be optimized for Google and other search engines. If you have any questions about the set-up process, leave them in the comments below and we will give you a hand.

In the next lesson we are going to be discussing KEYWORDS, the root of all of your rankings, traffic and success online.

Talking about niche, it is better to focus on one and differentiate yourself from your competitors. Think of it like being a big fish in a small pond.

When we target a specific target audience/target market, that means we'll have fewer competitions and can focus more of our efforts in building our business better. We won't waste time and energy rambling about so many different stuff that will confuse our readers that visit our site.

We need to build trust with both Google and our readers. We want to make sure Google see us as an authority in the chosen niche by consistently publishing fresh content (2-3 posts every week) that are helpful to your readers.

If you are following the Bootcamp Training (MMO Niche), then realistically, it will take about 400 posts to really make a serious amount of income from it. If you are publishing 2-3 posts per week, then you can expect to start appearing on Page 1 of Google around months 3-6. This can vary of course based on your keyword research and your content quality etc.

The MMO niche is very competitive so you may want to choose the OEC training, your choice. It will generally take 3-6 months before you see any real ranking/income though. It takes a lot of continuous hard work to get there either way.

The Bootcamp is more focused on promoting WA. But you can benefit from both.

Hi Kingsley, have you chosen a niche and choice of keywords

Perhaps you may like to continue building out your website and content, site will remain valid for six months.

You can also do Level One -- Affiliate Bootcamp Additionally, you may like to browse classrooms: Getting started, Affiliate Programs and the WA Affiliate Platform.

Please be aware after the seven days, your communication with the platform ceases to exist, so if you have other questions or something else on your mind, do ask.

We hope you'd be able to upgrade to Premium in the near future.

Hi there,

Great job for reaching Lesson 9.

You use the keywords you found in your posts. Keep publishing fresh content to your website consistently (2-3 posts a week). Then when you're ready, you can upgrade to Premium.

Assuming you find keywords in Jaaxy (under Research on left menu) with BOTH of this combination:
AVG > 100 (good amount of organic search per month)
QSR < 50 (fewer competitions)

For example "how to train a dog to sit"

Then you will incorporate that phrase in your title, first paragraph, and then once again near the end of your post.

Title: "3 Easy Steps: How To Train A Dog To Sit" - Always add to the title to make it enticing and reason why people should click on YOUR post on their results page.

First paragraph (within first 160 characters, this is called Meta Description):
"When first getting a new puppy, you will want to learn how to train a dog to sit when he or she is 2 - 4 months old.
I have 3 easy steps below that I'm going to go through with you so you can teach your new puppy...."

In the body of your post: anything you want.

Last section of post somewhere:
"If you have learned how to train your dog to sit, then please comment below and let me know of your results!" - or something else, anything that will bring that keyword back into your article.

When researching keywords you need to beware of Stop Words like "what is" "how to" and words like "in" "a" "on".

If you'd like to add pictures, the Site Content has integrated with sites like http://pixabay.com, http://pexels.com, http://unsplash.com where you can get royalty free images.
Once you're done writing in the Site Content, click on the ABC icon next to the Add Image icon to check for spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc.

It is also a good practice before publishing a content to check for plagiarism. You can use a free online plagiarism checker that I listed in my blog post here: You should have less than 5% duplicate content (I'd rather have 100% original content). If Google found you have duplicate content, your post won't be ranked.

Hope this helps,

Ferra

Hi ,Just joining and very new to this. My reason for doing so is to sell my handcrafts . I am retired and want to make money at home. I am looking for a way to sell it and get paid with out having to go to bazaars or have all the people in my home. Also when a person gets set up in here is it recommend to go to premium and pay a fee in order to sell or can you sell at the starter package?

Hi Robin,

At the starter package, you get a siterubix subdomain which remains the property of WA, however if you upgrade to Premium you can purchase your own .com domain to sell your wares and hosted with WA with your premium membership or elsewhere.

It is advisable to go Premium, as the training here is second to none. However it is totally your choice.

Please ask as many questions as you'd like going forward.

Welcome to WA, wish you success in your endeavors.

Is it suggested that you do all your profile, adding pictures etc prior to upgrading to premium ?

You can get sales while you are a starter member, but it is much more difficult than when you are a premium one.

Hello everyone,
I'm on lesson# 8 and my website is looking a bit messy. Somehow, I messed up and I don't know where or how to trace my steps back. I have the "title" of the website on the far left instead of it being in the center and the "Home, About Nikki, and Privacy Policy" on the far right next to each other instead of being one above the other. And under the title on the far left I have "About Nikki" which my first post. Under that I have "Admin and date". And right under that I have "About Niki" again which is a bit redundant.
Please help. How can I rearrange things in order?
Thankfully,
Nicole

Hi hi!

So I have a question. I am busy going through the initial training videos and am at the "Build Your Website" video. I just want to make sure I can do this before I go through all the videos and realise I should have been hunting for better options. I want to build an ecommerce store that sells my own products - at this stage it sounds like I can only sell other people's products. Can I build my site based on my own products? So people come to my site, go through my products, pay on my site for my products?

You can certainly build a site for your own products. There are several here that have similar sites.

Thank you so much! I have spend weeks building my product and getting my team together - I am so excited :) The only problem I have had was getting an acceptable hosting site that can do what I need and is actually affordable. It seems like my search might be over.
