We are now getting into the fun stuff!

You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it. Our goal is to get ranked in the BIG 3, Google, Bing & Yahoo. Do note that our focus is going to be primarily on Google though as they own over 2/3 of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.

But why do you want rankings in the search engines? Simple...

Website Rankings + Targeted Traffic = Revenue!

This is the first step in creating an online revenue stream. Today we are going to walk you through the set-up of a plugin that is going to do a lot of the "dirty work" for you and will take care of the optimization of all your website pages/posts, meta tags, and other aspects that search engines look for when ranking your site.

I have created a video walk-through of this training and please follow along as it will add a lot of clarity to how SEO works, but also how to install the All in One SEO plugin.

DISCUSS THIS VIDEO HERE: Getting Your Website SEO Ready

Task 1: Set-up All in One SEO on your site

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very important aspect of any website's success.

In this task we are going to be setting up a plugin that makes our website code (the stuff behind the scenes of our website) friendly for search engines like Google so they can index and rank our sites properly. This is going to be very powerful for your website content getting ranked in search engines going forward, so don't skip this task.

Make sure you follow the instructions on setting this up from this lesson's video. Here are a few things that you want to remember:

  • You can update this at any time within your the main menu (the link to the All in One SEO set-up is just under the Dashboard menu item)
  • Update your Home Title and Home Description. Keywords are not all that important.
  • Change the | to - (optional)
  • Save the settings when done.

You are NOT going to see these changes from setting up this plugin as the work is done behind the scenes within your websites HTML code. Don't worry about this, it is making your code friend for search engines like Google. :)

Hi Matt,
Log into your site and go to appearances. Click on menu. Create a menu and add those pages to your menu. They should show up then.
I hope this helps.

Hey Matt, Did you create a menu? Are they published?

First check to see if they are published or in draft mode - https://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Status and check the pic Page Status...

Then for guidance on menu setup see below...

Look here - https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Menu_User_Guide

And here - http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-add-navigation-menu-in-wordpress-beginners-guide/

Then you need to make sure your menu is assigned correctly as some themes have more than one menu.

See the pic manage locations...to see if you have an assigned menu...

Then make sure your pages are actually attached to your menu, see pic..select menu

And finally, make sure your pages are attached to the menu...see pic menu pages...

Please post back if you need more assistance...

Regards

Neil

This may be jumping the gun here, but how do you find products that offer affiliate earnings? Kyle mentioned Amazon in the video, but I know not all products sold on Amazon have affiliate programs. Is finding affiliate products/services something I need to be concerned about at this point?
Reply
JCR3 Premium
No you shouldn't be concerned, Kyle fully explains this as you go through the training. But just so you know, you can earn affiliate commissions on ANY PRODUCT sold on amazon. This is because if you join amazon as an affiliate, it is amazon paying you a commission not the product you are promoting.

Anyways, just continue to go through the training and Kyle will walk Your through finding affiliate programs and products!!

Hope this helps!

Thank you JCR3. Yes, that does help. I wasn't aware of the Amazon Affiliate program. I don't think it will fit with my niche, but it's great to know anyway.
Thanks again,

Hi Laurie,
Kyle does walk you through finding Affiliate Programs, but in the meantime, here are a couple for you to look into.

Shareasale

CJ Affiliates (used to be Commission Junction)

Ok Here is a problem. I am building a second website. My first was through the bootcamp as a WA affiliate and this one will be my blog page and used for other earning, affiliate programs. I picked my theme and domain name as a site.rubix for now but the web site will not load nor can I log in. I am getting a HTTP 500 error message. Should I just delete it and try again?

HTTP 500 is an internal server error, basically, there is little to nothing you can do at your end.

I know this sounds crazy but try refreshing the page, F5, and clear your browser cache/cookies and you can even clean out your DNS. It may help...

This error can only generally be resolved by seeing what the issue is with the Web server. It is not generally a client-side problem. The other issue is that some web servers will report a 500 when in fact they are generating a 504, which is a gateway timeout...wont go into the details here...

If after clearing your browser out, still nothing going on, then contact the techs to confirm if your site was created and find out what the issue is...It could be your site was 'half' created and something got lost in the ether...

Hi kwikev, highly unlikely to be a WordPress issue, but the tech support here should be able to point you in the right direction and give you some idea what is going on and how to go about getting it resolved.

Try doing the F5 refresh and clearing out the browser if you are able to and understand the implications, it may just help...

Best wishes

It depends on how you are viewing it. I have also gone through this.

So I am in draft mode and want to see how it looks from the browser side. So I copy the draft mode adr and paste it into the browser. >>> Bingo <<< There is the error.

Your browser will not be able to see that draft page because it is hidden from it.

The troubles come from both methods... I tried to login as admin from site.rubix here and also through a direct sign in to the page in the browser. It never quite loaded right I am sure as I never did see the site after it was built

Aye best route IMO, if you have tried the other stuff I and Ed mentioned. Like I say HTTP500 is more often than not something you have no real control over and is usually an indication that 'something' is unavailable and cannot be reached.

It may be viewable in SiteRubix, but not created on the backend web server, so SiteRubix thinks its all ok until it tries to contact the actual web server and you get a big 500...

I fee like I'm accomplishing something I've created my 3 pages and right now at this moment. I really want to stress at this moment because I'm sure I will have another moment of oh my. But, right now at this moment I feel like I'm grasping something and that I'm coming along. I'm saying Pavonjed (Tyiese) Gurl I think you can do this right here. LOL I'm tickling myself right now. I'm like that litlle engine who could. "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. I won't give up I will. I can! Soon I will be posting some useful content that others can enjoy.

Tyiese, you can for sure do this. You have got this far, and remember when you first started, you did not know how to make 1 page let alone 3, you did not know what the heck WordPress was all about, what domains and subdomains were and a list of other things.

Be happy with your progress and don't worry about upcoming OMG moments, you will have them, and get past them, and you will continue your journey into awesomeness...

Just keep chipping away, little by little and before you know it you will have done lots.

Best wishes

I noticed that the wording in this sentence in the privacy policy does not seem to make sense.

"These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to the advertisements and links that appear on YOURWEBSITE send directly to your browsers."

It seems to be missing something after "technology to." Does anyone know if this is correct. From what I understand ambiguity such a this might void the legal wording.

Thanks,
Reply
NeBro Premium Top 200
Hey wlkalong, you are correct...It has some other issues in it too...I won't go into here. The basic premise is sound, though, and leaves no room to interpret what it all means really and the part about not agreeing and leaving the website is plain enough.

You can add your own 'provide' 'supply' change send to 'sent'...just mod it to make sense.

Or look on the internet for a privacy policy template, lots of freebies, or take one from another site and look through theirs and mod it to suit your own site.

Best wishes...

Great and informative video, however, after watching this video, I am more concerned about competition for my niche than anything. Driving traffic and earning commissions is all based on the chance that the person gets to the website in the first place. I am more nervous that just in WA alone, its going to be hard to outshine someone with the same niche.

Hi Nater, I read a piece, some while ago, about market saturation, can't remember where it was now, but basically the guy said, if such a thing were true and common, how the heck do companies still sell windows, tv's, beds, laptops, and all kind of things...

What makes your chosen site a success in your chosen niche, is you. You have to make your own little spot one worth visiting, some folks will like your style over others, some folks won't, and you know, look around the internet, there are some pretty bad sites out there, so don't worry about it too much, because you have as much of a chance to get your bit of pie as anyone else and you may even get some cream with your pie...

Best wishes

Its really scary at 1st but step through the training & it will start to make more sense.
Kyle's training is fantastic & I've got to say there where times were I though "What the Hell is this Guy On" & "Why do people keep telling me just go through & take in every lesson" & then the light bulb went on!
Through every lesson that we are learning, Kyle is not only teaching us how to build our web site but also lift or rankings, its Genius! So get in to the training & know matter if you think there's a step that is unnecessary "Remember theirs a method to the madness"
1st place is where his teaching is taking us.

I have to put my spin on this.

I remember back in the '60's that I was riding with a fellow. He stopped to get gas. I asked him "Jack how come you stop at this gas station. There is one on every corner here."

"Well, kid let me tell why" he says. "I've stopped at all these other stations and nobody asks how my son is doing in school or if my wife has been to the new store in town yet". "This fellow here does" "These other guys just want to pump my gas, get my $2 to fill up the gas tank and then get back inside to listen to the ball game on the radio."

It's how you treat people.

Hi all!

Great article Kyle. I'm about to set my website up, but wanted to be 100% clear about the site rubrix --> domain setup process.

I'd like to try the free version out first, then buy muy domain once I've written a few posts. When I've got the domain + siterubrix attachment does that reserve just the domain name for when I want to get rid of the siterubrix part?

Or do you recommend buying the domain first and proceding with the free account, then converting to premium?

Thanks!
Michele

NeBro Premium Top 200
Hi Michele, setting up a siterubix subdomain does not reserve your desired domain name, all it does is give you the name on siterubix as a subdomain using the name you have chosen to use here, such as, http://michelesname.siterubix.com, subdomains are 'private' to the domain they are attached to and have no direct relationship to anything outside of the root domain, in this case, http://siterubix.com.

If you want the domain name and you know for sure you are going forward then purchase it as soon as you can. After all your domain name is hostable on any valid hosting service so even if you don't use it here you can use it elsewhere if you choose to do so at a later point in time.

You will need to be a premium member at WA if you wish to use SiteHosting to host your website here.

Take a look here, this may help give you some deeper understanding of what you are getting at WA... Best wishes and regards

Hi Michele, I have, to be honest with you and everyone else, I think it makes a big difference for you to have your own domain name as early in the learning process as possible, for a number of reasons, which I won't go into here.

Just be confident in the fact your taking another step in your commitment to your continued success.

Best wishes in your journey.

Hello,
When setting up my niche web site, it ask for a user name and an email.
Is the user name what customers will see? So should it just be my normal name or something related to the niche website like if my site was for "SELF HELP BOOKS" should it be JesHelp?

Will this email i enter in be constantly getting emailed by customers and the community? It is my personal email. Should I create another email that's work related?

Kyle promotes the idea that using your personal name adds a personal touch to your prospective customer.

I like that. It takes it out of the "Pssst ..... I got something to sell you buddy" image. It shows your not hiding behind a business only website.
